By: Jesse Holland
With UFC 100 less than a week away, Spike TV is presenting a five-part special, highlighting the 100 greatest UFC fights in history, as voted on by the fans.
Voting was done over at Spike.com (Ultimate100.spike.com) or by clicking here. Fans were able to choose their top 100 fights from an extensive list of bouts selected by the UFC and Spike TV.
Each episode of “UFC’s Ultimate 100: Greatest Fights” will count down the top 100 with clips and highlights from each contest. The first one-hour installment (Part 1) will premiere tonight, July 5 at 9:00pm ET.
The next four episodes will air:
Monday, July 6 at 9:00pm ET (Part 2)
Tuesday, July 7 at 9:00pm ET (Part 3)
Wednesday, July 8 at 9:00pm ET (Part 4)
Saturday, July 11 at 9:00pm ET (Part 5)
Saturday’s final episode will serve as a lead-in to the UFC 100 pay-per-view event.
UFC 100 will feature Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar tangling with the division’s interim title keeper, Frank Mir, to determine once and for all an undisputed champion. In addition, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre will once again defend his 170-pound strap against number one contender, Thiago Alves.
Rounding out the stacked card is a middleweight brawl between The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 coaches, Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping, who will collide to determine who earns the right to challenge the reigning middleweight champion later in 2009.
Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night (Saturday, July 11), which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view from the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
In the meantime, go ahead and give us your top five greatest UFC fights of all time in the comments section below.

alot of big fights fail to live up to the hype. exp: couture liddell 3, and gsp penn 2. some of the best fights have happened by surprise. i still think huerta garcia was one of the all time greats.
Anyone hear Meltzer’s comments about how petty the UFC was in picking these fights. They left out everyone they’re on the outs for example- Ortiz vs Lil Shammy. Wonder how Dana will respond or will Iole’s nob polishing soothe him before he really loses it.
I thought Kelly/Taylor, Griffin/Edgar, Sherk/Griffin and Hughes/Sherk should’ve at least cracked the top 40 or 30
I hope they do a bit during the show that is like “Fights that almost made the cut” and show Anderson vs Leites as a joke (in no way am I advocating the re-airing of that fight to even death row prisoners, rather a montage of the different times Thales was on his back during the fight would be a funny message to send in comparison of a bunch of great fights of what not to do).
Not really sure what my favourite actually was…but if I had to guess what will be number 1, I would have to guess that it is Griffin/Bonnar. What else might it be?
spike and the ufc picked the fights and we the fans just placed them in order. not fair. let us the fans pick the fights and spike and the ufc can place them in order based on requests.
there’s a lot of fights worthy of top 100 that will not make it. for example josh barnett vs randy couture. have a feeling it’s because barnett is with affliction, and testing positive after he won the fight.
be curious to see how many of the top 100 i saw live
my guess is at least 5
Many of the greatest fights in my opinion were the dark horse fights on the cards. Where neither fighter was a superstar but came in and put on one hell of a fight. Jones bonnar would fit this category everyone was like who is this Jones kid, and bonnar hasn’t lived up to the hype after TUF. Then BAM what a fight
i want to see all the undercards that i have missed..after so many years of ppv i’d like to see what is taped to fill in the live feeds..
that has been a complaint of mine for years. ive spent a small fortune on ppvs. least dana could do is hook us up with some undercards. instead of trying to make you buy them off the website.
Pretty dam gay they don’t even show the fights, just clips and people talking about them. What a dissapoinment.
koppenhaver, rollins was like 88????????? Dude that was top 25 at least.
Bad call
Did you really think they were gonna show 100 full fights?
Thatd take alot longer than five hours.
did anyone else notice that Dana made the mistake of saying paul kelly had no ground game? i bet someone get fired over that
