carano cyborg

“She comes from Muay Thai and knows jiu-jitsu but is better standing up than on the ground. I look for the Muay Thai game in all my fights, but I’m also prepared to fight on the ground. I’ll keep the fight standing up and look for the knockout, but I’m preparing a special game for this fight, because whoever commits the fewest mistakes will win…. I can’t have problems [making weight] this time. I promised it would never happen again, and I’ll keep my word. I already started the diet, and I don’t believe I’ll have problems. If it’s difficult for me, I believe it will be difficult for Gina, too, but I’m sure we will both be ready on the day of the fight and put on a great show for the fans.”

-- Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos talks to Sherdog.com about her preparation and training for Gina Carano, indicating that perhaps she could look to exploit the ground game of “Conviction” if it’s a stalemate standing. She also assures her fans that there will be no problems this time around on the scale — Santos and Carano have struggled mightily to make weight in the past. Let’s hope she delivers because Strikeforce is wading into uncharted territory with not only booking the first-ever major 145-pound female championship, but also giving it top billing on a very impressive card, which is scheduled for the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., on Aug. 15. It’s time to shine ladies … can they live up to the lofty expectations and pull it off or is it impossible?

The only game Cyborg will play with Carano is Hide the Penis.

Honestly I dont think this fight will even be close. My opinion is is that Cyborg will destroy Gina with ease. I know everybody loves Gina but I think she is going to get handled in this one.

If BOTH of them have to cut weight why in the hell are they fighting at 145 to begin with? why aren’t they fighting at 155 or some other agreed upon weight? Is there a freaking rule set in stone for women fighters I’m not aware of? I mean men have 155 pound weight class, why not women?

so we can see them slim. neither girl has much going for them so at least they can be skinny. lets face it carano is a hog. and cyborg looks like a man.

Well that would essentially be creating a division for the two of them and would only be viable for at least one more fight beyond this matchup if Toughill decides to move up. The premier division for women has always been 135 (ie LHW for women), anything outside of that has fewer competitors in the US much less around the world. So they chose 145 because it exists (unlike retarded EliteXC divisions), is a weight that both women have hit before without?! problem (assuming their problems came when they got near 141-142lbs) and finally is close enough to 135 that they can make other matchups besides this by paying smaller girls slightly more cash to move up. Hell Coker can probly convince more japanese imports maybe even legit ones without any difficulty with a tiny bit of money.(guess what the top 3 p4p females get for matches – less $300 a fight). At least this is my take on it.

yep..i think the women would not want to be in what would be the heavy weight for chicks..that is laughable though..personally i don’t care for womens mma..but they should be more realistic..especially if you are to be muscular to do the sport..as in muscle weighs more than fat theory..

Am I the only one who thinks Gina looks hotter in pics than in action? Saw her demo vid on here a few weeks ago and thought she looked pretty rough, then she spoke and sounded very nasal which always puts me off, and she had fat ankles. Not that I’m judging her as a fighter, but if women will insist on doing man-sports I am gonna be checking out their tits.
