“We’re waiting for the belt all the time… I made five fights there and won all of them well, so I think I’ll have the opportunity. If they give me, I’ll train very hard and focused for the fight…. The fans are excited… Every fight that I do there, we’re gaining more and more fans. I like it a lot! The guys love my aggressive style, we get there and try to do the best for the public…. I fought [at 135 pounds] in the past and, if I could, I would fight [Miguel Torres]. But, now, I prefer to take the belt of my category, earn it, and then yes (I’d fight him). If I’m well and with the belt, I’d go fight with him…. He already said he wanted to fight with me… I have nothing against him, but I think it would be a good fight. I would look for the standing fight and, if it goes to the ground, I would show my jiu-jitsu. He has a good jiu-jitsu too, but I guarantee myself in mine.”

– Electrifying World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) featherweight (145 pounds) fighter Joe Aldo talks to Tatame.com about the possibility of dropping 10 pounds to battle bantamweight (135 pounds) champion Miguel Torres. “Junior” is interested; however, he’d like to first test his skills against featherweight champion Mike Brown if the promotion grants him a title shot. It’s hard to deny Aldo the opportunity — the Brazilian smashing machine is now undefeated (5-0) in the WEC with five straight (technical) knockout victories. He recently scored a crushing win over Cub Swanson at WEC 41, ending the fight in just eight seconds with a slick skin-splitting flying knee. It would appear that a shot at championship glory would be a no brainer. Perhaps the only thing standing in his way is his Nova União teammate, Wagnney Fabiano, who is also among the top 145-pound fighters in the world. If Aldo were to somehow capture the title it would dash Fabiano’s championship hopes because the pair would more than likely not fight one another. It sounds like 135 might be a better spot for Aldo in the long-term … and it might even mean better fights for us fans.

Wooooo!! That would be a sick fight! Aldo is so dangerous and finishes people really easily for a small fighter.

Torres would have the toughest test yet IMO if this ever happened.

looks like the story I posted yesterday is indeed true…which is VERY SAD!!!

Zuffa puts non UFC fighters on notice:

***ANY FIGHTERS WHO ALLOW themselves to be in the new EA sports mma video game will be FOREVER banned from the UFC!***

This is the worst thing that Dana has EVER done. TO keep FANS from seeing top fighters compete in the Octagon, because they chose to be in the “OTHER mma game” is simply UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

Quote:
I hear that all mma managers were informed that if any of their clients not currently under contract with the UFC….. sign to be a part of the EA game…….the will forever be banned for fighting in the UFC.
Fighter Manager Ken Pavia Confirms:

Quote:
It’s true. And they told me want the word out.
This comes after EA made this recent announcement:

Quote:
When asked about fighters such as UFC star Lyoto Machida, Moore added: Machida? A great fighter. Theres plenty of great fighters that have their image rights, and well start announcing fighters pretty soon.

Although no official announcements of fighters for EA Sports MMA have been made, several leaks have indicated that top fighters not locked into the UFC are indeed stepping up and signing for Electronic Arts title, which is due out in 2010 and developed by EA Tiburon.

A tour schedule around E3 indicated that notable Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko was taking place in a photoshoot for the EA title, alongside colleague Gegard Mousasi.

In addition, famous ex-UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia recently said in a radio interview that both he and notable former UFC star Randy Couture have signed up for the Electronic Arts game. None of these signings have yet been confirmed by Electronic Arts.

Great Idea Dana white! Ban Fedor, mOusasi and other top fighters that fans have been drooling at the thought of you signing for years, from competing in the Octagon over a video game beef. This is an all-time low, and If this crap continues, DANA NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!!!!

Truly disgusting behaviour again then from Mr Insecure.

Its a fucking game for god’s sake. If its Tiburon rpoducing the game it will most likely be better than the UFC game as well which will really piss Dana off.

What a prick.

Exactly. ITS a FOCKING VIDEO GAME for crying out loud. How can Dana call this a sport, if decisions are based on video games?

Its really going to get messy when fighters like Machida and Couture who still own their own rights sign on to be a part of this video game…I predict a few temper tantrums in the imediate future out of Dana!

Will the Tim Sylvia character have a feature that allows his weight to balloon?

Who in their right mind would ever pick that underachieving, bloated slug as a video game character?

I would rather pick Bob Sapp!

a)i doubt its dana’s call (at least it wouldn’t be his alone.. and b)i doubt its true. The UFC would kick out Randy and Machida? I doubt it. I find it hard to believe this story.

There should just be a lifelike Tim Sylvia shaped punch bag in the training room to beat up on!

That would be the shit. LOL

You honestly find that hard to believe after they buried Arloski on under cards, jammed Randy up for a year and fired Fitch over video game likeness rights?

Yea I don’t get this move at all; I think it makes the UFC look bad, but it’s exactly what these other organizations need to grow. Now they’ve got these fighters in an EA game; getting publicity and advertising some alternative brands; with absolutley no concern that the UFC is going to come along with a bigger better deal and snatch up their stars. I still don’t see Affliction making it as an MMA org, but as far as the UFC having to deal with serious competition and going head to head with other competitive shows; I can see that happening a lot sooner than I thought at this rate.

Awful news, Dana is an idiot for banning quality fighters over a video game. Surely the Fertittas will intervene, otherwise the UFC has made a catastrophic era. This is great news for any competetive MMA organisations because Dana’s bully boy tactics has just secured them some quality fighters.

Yep it was ridiculous when i read that a couple of days ago. It’s probly just posturing because if they lose machida to EA, then they’re not gonna do anything. Handy is already part of it too. The problem is they’re trying to force that trickle down economy by wedging themselves between sponsors and fighters. They want a complete lockdown on all source of revenue in MMA on the large scale. Don’t know about anti trust regulations and if this may fit in them but none in MMA has the resources or the balls to do anything.

If its accurate I highly doubt Dana could make this decision with consulting Lorenzo or Frank first

Anyway….where’s the love for my boy Aldo???

Talk about a bright future for this guy. I don’t see anything impossible for him to achieve at those weight classes in 2009/2010.

He may even hold both belts if he carries tearing people up like he has.

Ca$z -

Aldo’s a freggin beast. I’d like to see him take on Torres. Two guys with great jits and fast nasty stand up. The biggest difference of the 2 is that Torres has gone 5 rounds and has proven his cardio. Aldo is sooo good and finished fights soooo early, he hasn’t been tested in the deep waters. It’d be a hard one to bet on.

Hell, Mike Brown vs. Aldo will be a great fight too.

I feel sorry for MMA watchers who don’t have or chose not to follow WEC. They’re missing out on some great MMA talent.

You know it. The WEC is great fun and has some seriously fast paced fights with a surprising amount of KO’s and subs considering these are small lightweight guys who usually don’t have that KO power. I live in the UK and download them the following day (sorry Dana…lol) and recommend anyone do the same in my situation as it is must see MMA.

You could be right about Aldo’s cardio but it isn’t usually a big deal for the lighter guys although it may be in a 5 round title fight. Especially at the pace Aldo fights at.

Can’t wait to see it though and we know we will before the years out. At least the Brown vs Aldo fight then maybe if Aldo takes it we will get to see the Aldo vs Torres fight.

Wooooweee…I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about it!!

This kid has the potential to do it up Hendo style in two divisions. He’s gonna be on fighter of the year list in 2010 and be on a p4p list shortly. These lighter weight divisions are blowing up like crazy with way more diverse talent and technical acuity than any other division. And though most people don’t keep with up the smaller guys outside of the WEC, the talents getting ready to come over from M1, Shooto brazil, etc is fn ridiculous, fighters like Dudu Dantas, Hacran Dias all guys you can see p4p potential in.

Aldo v Torres or Brown are both dream fights, this guy is a monster and is going to have a great future in MMA. That win over Cub Swanson was scary, I’ve never seen a cut like that and that was from the first strike. Aldo is a killer and right now is the only guy with a viable chance at dethroning Torres or Brown.
