i have to admit, Barnett scares the crap out of me!

I think if he was gonna lose it would’ve been to AA; he hadn’t trained right for the fight, Arlovski was winning the exchanges, looked like he could be in some trouble but then landed the big overhand right. Barnett probably won’t be catching Fedor on an off night, or under trained for this one; I think the window of opportunity there for a Fedor loss got passed up by AA last fight.

I hope he loses so they wont have any more leverage to stay out of the ufc. After Barnett who’s out there for him to fight that people will pay to watch???

Yea I know Barnett is a quality opponent but I don’t see what you guys are worried about. His strengths are Fedors strenghts; and Fedor has him beat in the striking. I think wether it stays standing or goes to the ground it’s a lose/lose for Josh either way. At least with Arlovski he had a marked advantage in the hands department, which is an advantage that Barnett will not have to enjoy.

yeah, but Barnett is a great grappler with a lot of size that knows how to use his size. He has a great mix of size and technical ability in both Jits and wrestling. Im the biggest Fedor nuthugger alive but Fedor wont be submitting Barnett. Barnett is to good to be armbared or kimura’d. Imo Fedor’s only shot at submitting Josh is to take his back..loosen him up with punches and sneak in a RNC.

If I were gameplanning on Fedor’s behalf against Barnett, I would strongly advise him to use the blueprint that he used to beat Nog in their 1st fight. Put him on his back, and unleash that frightening g n p for 25 minutes, or until Josh breaks! Dont waste your time going for submissions trying to end the fight. Put him on his back, while Fedor is still standing, push josh’s legs to the side, and throw that diving punch right into josh’s side guard that Fedor and shogun made famous. Repeat til he breaks or until time expires. BUt I doubt that nog could take 25 minutes of that kind of punishment the way Nog did!

I think Fedor takes this fight for reasons others have mentioned. He just seems to make the right decision in every fight, he never seems rattled. However, does anyone else think that Fedors recent wins don’t seem as impressive after both Silvia and Arlosvski have both been laid out recently by other fighters just as quickly? I just think that Fedor would never be able to clean out the UFC heavyweight division. Someone would catch him (Couture, Lesnar, Gonzaga, Cain, Carwin). Too bad we will probably never find out.

Lol, I hear ya on the Randy vs Brock fight; I thought Couture was about to do it again, until he ate that big right hand. All in all though, I still think it was a good showing for Randy.

you idoits are building Barnett way up, he has no chance in this fight, would get owned in the UFC and isn’t even a threat to any HW belt – the guy hasnt won a decent fight in 5 years. Get real.

Really coldchill? u r comparing GSP with Guida. U must be out of your mind. GSP was a good fighter when he first enter the octagon. GSP had really good stand up and He always went for the finish. Even try to submit hughes on their first fight. Whenever Guida is fighting someone legit he always try to Lay n Pray his way into a desicion win. He doesn’t make fights exciting his opponents do. Watch the fight again and tell me what was so exciting in the second round when he was on top position for almost 4 minutes, well besides the elbows from Sanches.

Agreed John, I knew the Guida fans would be tryin to say it was a close fight and that “Guida put on this great show of heart, and what a gritty performance”, etc.. etc.. He got beat down; plain and simple, and imo it would have been worse had Diego not had problems with the cut to 155 for this fight. And there’s no excuse for landing 3 strikes from top position the entire time he was on top in the 2nd round. The only Guida fights that are exciting are the ones where his opponent is getting after it and trying to make it exciting.

maybe the fights look better now but on fight night I’d be surprised if Affiction has the same card…the UFC’s depth saves them from injuries time and time again whereas Affiction posts great fights that don’t always happen…I see your point though, anything can happen and great fighters don’t always make for great fights…i will be getting both no questions asked

im leaning on affliction here, the only fight i give a crap about is hendo vs bisbing and if bisbing wins, i will be in a foul mood. brock and mir, wont last long enough to be any good, and im tierd of gsp humping his way to victory, there is no way he is gonna stand and trade with thiago (even though he could). so im more excited for affliction, but will buy both.

GSP’s ground game is definatley not “humping” at all, if by “humping” you mean non stop punching/elbowing his opponent in the face and kneeing them in the ribs while constantly looking to improve position then ok.. but there’s a HUGE difference between GSP’s ground game; and “lay n pray”.

Fedor will easily beat Barnett.
Santiago is no match for Vitor.
Hieron vs Semtex is interesting to me.
Buentello is ok, but its not for sure who he’s fighting. Rizzo or Yvel could get injured, and then we’d have a nobody fighting him.
Horodecki vs Lauzon is one I’m looking forward to.
Ben Rothwell, who should be fighting Buentello, is fighting a nobody.
And the rest of the undcard is nobodys as well. Not saying that they are going to be bad fights, but as far as getting me excited, they dont do the job.

Babalu vs Mousasi is what really gets me. Gegard is my favorite fighter, and he will handle Sobral. Im a big fan of Babz as well, but Mousasi is the better all around fighter. Mousasi is NOT losing this fight, but I will get nervous till he does win.

On to UFC 100, Brock/Mir is interesting to me, because I dont like Mir a whole lot, but I REALLY dont like Brock, and his immediate title shot and for beating Randy. I dont know if Mir can beat him, so that makes it exciting for me, cuz I hate when Brock wins.
GSP is always exciting, and Thiago is crazy tough. THat will be a good fight (GSP will win submission 2nd rnd).
Hendo, no matter how old, is still good, and in a possible no.1 contender fight, I think he will look better than his last 2 fights. Plus the TUF hype = anticipation.
Sexyama making his debut. Belcher has only lost 3 times in the UFC, and is riding high on confidence. which means he’ll most likely stand with Sexyama and get KTFO’d.
Jon Fitch will beat the crap outta PT.
Jon Jones who everyone nuts over is on the card. Stephan Bonnar will destroy Coleman.
Danzig vs Miller will be good, as will Grant vs Stun Gun.
To me, I’m more excited about UFC 100

Even if Barnett was the best which is hard to dissagree with u there. GSP vs Alves will be a much better fight then Fedor Barnett. Come on everybody knows Fedor is the best Pound for Pound fighter and everybody in the heavyweight division is a far second place even Barnett. Now Alves is a clear cut second and He will have a really good chance at beating gsp. GSP will try to take the fight to the ground and Thiago will defend the takedown. They will strike at some point, GSP will try to submit him. This fight has all the ingredients to be fight of the century. Fedor Barnett does not. It will be a real treat to watch this ground clinic this bad boys will have but other than that Fedor is so much better at all the other aspects of the fight game.

I think people are going to be surprised at just how one sided the Alves vs GSP fight turns out to be. Sure Thiago might fight off the TD for 1-2 rds, but it’s going to happen and the second it hits the ground it’s all GSP from then on.

Not seen Barnett fight but three losses to Cro Cop and one to Rizzo makes me think he doesn’t fair as well against top strikers, especially those who like to kick… Fedor, just kick his knees (as generally works against all wrestlers) and you’ll be fine

I won’t be surprised at all. But this fight scares the crap out me though. Alves is always dangerous but if GSP doesn’t have too much trouble with the takedown he would cruise to an easy win, but cant be careless againts someone with the power of Alves. Everybody say you cant use mma math but Alves was submitted by fisher and Ficht. GSP’s Jits are better then those two and if he gets a chance he will submit Alves.

GSP will get the TD by catching a leg kick…you’ll see!

That and once he gets one or two TD’s and puts a little dmg on Alves with some GnP, he’s going to start landing strikes more frequently with Thiago looking for the TD to come again. I think this fight is going to start out pretty even, back n forth, but GSP’s like a vice, every move is calculated, and the vice is slowly but surely inching in and squeezing the life out of a guy; by mid-late rd 3, that fight is going to be all GSP.

I can’t wait for the GSP Alves fight it has potential to be one of the greatest fights in MMA history! I also think GSp will wear Alves down and take the victory but I wouldn’t be shocked if Alves wins by KO he is by far the most dangerous fighter GSP has faced. Fedor vs Barnett will be another great fight that finally will take place but for some reason I’m not as excited as I was last year when there was rumors of this potential fight?

whoa Matthew I think Ufc 100 is stack but i wouldn’t pay to watch Henderson Bisping fight. Bisping will try to use his speed and better technique to earn a desicion just like he did with Leben. Is going to be another boring desicion win for Bisping.
