With less than two weeks until his ultimate grudge match against bitter rival Matt Hughes at UFC 98, former UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra (9-5) will join us tonight at 9 p.m. ET on MMAmania.com’s exclusive presentation of Pro MMA Radio.

“The Terror” will break down his unlikely reign as 170-pound champ, the behind the scenes shenanigans from The Ultimate Fighter 6 and how he plans to retire former welterweight kingpin Matt Hughes on May 23.

Hosted by Larry Pepe, Pro MMA Radio is professional, guest-driven program that features some of mixed martial arts biggest names.

If you’re looking for a radio show that revolves around a couple of MMA fans ranting and raving about everything that’s already been covered ad nauseam, then Pro MMA Radio probably isn’t for you.

However, if you want to hear from actual fighters and industry insiders answering questions that are relevant to the current MMA scene, tune in every Monday night at 9 p.m. ET for our exclusive live feed.

Half of this interview will be Serra saying how much he hates Hughes.

LOL! I didn’t listen to it and I was thinking the same thing :) . Tough fight to call. I’d say Hughes wins a boring decision. Who you got JV?

I hope Hughes wins, but I think Serra has more of an edge. But only because Hughes is past his prime as we all know.

Yeah, Hughes would have dominated Serra a few years ago for sure. I still think he’ll pull out the victory, just not in very exciting fashion.

if hughes is past his prime so is serra there about the same age and serra is really a lw no real excuse if hughes loses this one.

Serra is past his prime then too. If he ever had a prime.

Who cares, it will be things we’ve already heard 1000 times.

hughes wins via laying on serra most of the fight and winning with take downs, shocking eh?

There really has been only one fight where Hughes just layed on the guy the whole time. That was the Lyttle fight. All you commentators are amazing at pretending you’ve ever watched Hughes fight. He has never been the guy who was supposed to win, he’d be getting a beat down and then pull off a sweet upset. I see Serra frusterating Hughes early but making the mistake of following Hughes to the ground where Hughes will win via gnp.

Serra is good enough off of his back to avoid a ton of damage from Hughes. I’ll stick w/ my fellow commentator nathan on this one.

No, he’s not good enough off his back. Karo won the fight by beating up Serra on the ground, and Matt Hughes is 70 times better at it than Karo is.

I agree with Cogito here, Hughes only “boring” fight was vs Lytle, and I was not very bored with it at all. I thought it was a good, solid fight. Better than Anderson vs Leites for sure, and most of you people LOVED that fight.

Hughes hasn’t had an exciting fight since 2006. It’s been almost 3 years. Since then he has had his @$$ kicked by GSP twice, and his @$$ kicked by Thiago Alves. Throw in the boring fight against Lytle and there you have it. He may very well beat the snot out of Serra, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I just think it’s funny how you and Cog are so sure that Hughes is going to GnP Serra into the mat. Even if you go back to his fight against BJ, he was getting tooled until BJ gassed. Matt Hughes was a stud back in the day, but he is not the same fighter that he used to be.

BTW- the SIlva Leites fight sucked BAD! I’m sure this will be a more exciting fight then that. At least these 2 guys don’t like eachother so they’re bound to hit eachother in the face.

Fights are not either “exciting” or “boring”. Theres an in between there, which is where I place Matt Hughes. I’ll say the Trigg 2 and the Penn 2 fights were the most exciting of Hughes’ 2nd title run. The rest of his fights, wins and losses, have been the in btween type. Not exciting, but not boring either.

And how are you going to nag on Hughes for losing 2 rounds to BJ? Seriously man.

Everyone says hes not the fighter he used to be. Well, the fighter he is now is still better than whatever Serra is. Serra was not a real UFC champion, and is just a mid level gatekeeper.

I dont even think its funny anymore, I am baffled by the fact that so many think Serra will win. And some guys are even guaranteeing the victory!

Serra wins by GNP.

Hughes has lost all will to fight.
