Fedor has said in the past money was never the issue with the UFC, at the time they were offering him more money than anyone else, a lot of it was to do with contract itself and the restrictions it imposed, one being that he would not be unable to compete in Sambo competitions in Russia. It is really only the PRIDE haters and fans who believe that the UFC is the centre of the universe that believe that Fedor still has something to prove, and he needs to do it in the UFC, but when you have the most of the top fighters in the world calling Fedor the best, it doesn’t really matter what a bunch of keyboard warriors think.

The hype train has begun. That’s all it is Kevin. Brock knows better than most how to sell a fight. I think secretly he’s pretty happy too. He now gets to appear on 100 and get a nice healthy slice of the ppv buys. Furthermore I always felt that if there was ever going to be a rematch it was in Frank’s best interest to get it over with as soon as possible whil Brock is still somewhat green. I assure you that Brock will use the extra time to his advantage. I’m sure he’s learning everyday. That’s 2 months (or whatever it is) of extra BJJ and striking to work on. He’s going to be even better against Mir than was against Couture. He could be scary good in a couple of years.

Couture was being aggressive but did nothing to get ahead on the score card, Brock did a great job staying calm and taking advantage of the over aggressive couture. Egads, I’m 100% sure the contracts are percentage based. Not a dumb thought on your part at all, you were thinking, but different fighters get a different % (not all get it) just as everyone earns different base pays!
I think Mir is pretty good but I don’t think most HW will fair well against Brock, the one guy in the UFC that I think has the best chance against Brock is Carwin because he has KO power and good size to stand with Brock, Brock doesn’t have many fights under his belt and may make a mistake but I doubt it will happen again vs. Mir again. It is my belief wrestling is the most competitive MMA style and thats why good wrestlers seem to translate into good MMA fighters. Wrestling is probally the most fatiguing sport in the world and to be good you must be relentless and battle for body control to win much like MMA. Brock with his size and strength advantage combined with his superior wrestling advantage is why he was able to jump to the top so early in his career. Fact that he has KO power makes him even more scary. Take Barnett add 35 pounds of muscle add a better wrestling game and more KO power!!

Actually Randy was not winning. Brock won the first round against Randy with the take downs and being on top. Then he obviously finished Randy in the 2nd.
Yeah Brock didn’t finish Herring but that’s because Herring went in a turtle position the whole time. That was Brock’s first fight going more than 2 minutes so he was still learning.
The bottom line is that he couldn’t finish Herring for his submissions are way way below the charts. Hence, the inability to submit.

I think Mir’s knee is the least of his problems in this fight. The last fight was a crock of shit. It was stood up for no reason. Shots to the back of the head my ass. Brock will end this one fast.
Murr knows he got bailed out by il Moustache last time they fought. Lesnar has gotten more knowledge and experience by now and won’t fall into a sub again, and Murr knows that too. Murr can’t stand with Lesnar because even if he lands his clever little jab-uppercut combo it won’t phaze Lesnar, and Murr will eat a cinderblock fist or two for his trouble. All that being said, I think Murr has ruined more than a few pairs of underpants thinking about this fight.

The only reason that combo took out Nog was because Nog had a severe staph infection at the time that dramatically slowed and weakened him. Being able to take a punch (which Lesnar can do) and actually enjoying it are two different things.

If you watch the first Mir v Lesner fight, you will see Mir getting overwhelmed by Lesner. Punches to the head, body, rolling around while getting pummeled.
Unlike every other figher in this situation who would have curled up in a fetal position, Mir was looking for a sub on a leg, or an arm while eating those hits. He made his attempts before and after the ref stood them up.
To me, thats a true fighter, one that kept looking for a way out when being bombarded. That is skill and training at its finest.
Mir will pull it off again, he is a true champion.
I agree. and as a side note to everyone… the ref standing them up didnt really change things. Mir didnt get hurt until AFTER they got stood up. Brock first took down Mir by catchin a leg kick and dumping him on his ass (not hurting him). then started raining down little nothing hammer fists…. the ref stood them up and THATS when brock hurt mir with a huge punch, which landed them in the exact same position… the only difference is that now mir is actually HURT. its almost like the ref did brock a favor by giving Brock an opportunity to get a good punch in b4 returning to the original position on the ground… If brock couldnt finish Mir on the ground when he WAS hurt…then he wasnt going to finish Mir the first time it hit the ground when Mir WAS NOT hurt
Excellent points Jesse. If Mir is smart he will not come out with those leg kicks and put himself in a position to get dumped on the mat again. He needs to stick to using the more technical boxing skills, keep his feet under him and be ready to sprawl when Brock’s wrestler mentality starts to take over.

How many years has a guy like Shogun trained in BJJ. hes forgotten more about BJJ and submissions than Lesnar has learned. But somehow Forrest was able to choke him out. Anderson Silva caught Lutter in an nasty triangle too. awareness of the possibility of a submission is not enough to keep you safe. Lesnar wont see the submission coming b4 its too late. and being a wrestler at heart, lesnars wreslting instincts are more likely to put him in a comprimising position when the element of submissions is introduced. To rule out the possibility of a 2nd submission is very naive. That said; I think Brocks chances of TKO’n Mir are about the same as Mir’s chances of submitting Brock. This Fight could go one way just as easily as it could go the other way. But wether Mir gets the submission or Brock gets the TKO.. it wont last long

Wether he is scared or not the. the end result will be the same. Lesner by total destruction. I am not a big Lesner fan simply because he hasn’t racked up enough credible wins for me to be dazzled by the sun most people see shinning out of his backside, but as far as I concerned, it was Lesners inexperince that lost him the fight more than Mirs experience giving him the victory. Anybody who believes Mirs mediocre stand up against a past his sell by date, walking punch bag like Nog was impressive are needs their heads testing, and if they actually think that Lesner is going to just stand there and take a beating like Nog, then they are ignorant. Mir was constantly and blantantly going for that move the whole fight, and in desperation after being battred like baby seal he manged to pull it off thanks to Lesner more or less gift wrapping it for him. There is no way it will happen again, Mir will not see the end of the second round. I have always thought he was overrated and after Lensner beats him he will slip down the rankings quicker than George Micheals pants in the mens toilets. I personally think Mir was just disappointed that he wasn’t the first choice for a historical UFC 100. He used the injury to delay his fight to get on that card for historical reasons alone. This is an example of a fight where my heart keeps me holding on to false hope. I want Murr to win so bad that I keep creating scenarios where he can. But, deep down I’m thinking Hulk will smash. More than likely, it will be over quickly and make for a dissapointing main event. But here’s to hope.

I saw Mir yesterday at the Q&A for WEC 40. He doesn’t seem scared one bit of Lesnar. It wasn’t his decision to postpone the fight, it was the doctor’s recommendation. He’s been getting injections for his knee ever since the accident and decided the operation needed to happen. What his quote really said was that he’d be at the point in his training that he could fight on May 23. He’s training year-round now, which he didn’t used to do and it’s making him a better fighter. What he said about Lesnar was true. He gets hit harder by the 195-205 lb guys he trains with than Lesnar because they throw their punches fast, which comparable Brock does not. Force = mass * acceleration. Mir got that one right and as he pointed out, it took a number of little punches to Couture’s head to finish the fight.
Mir said he got flak for not breaking Lesnar’s leg the first time they fought and waiting for the ref to stop the fight with Brock tapping. He says that this time around, he won’t be getting any flak.

Mir has never been knocked out with one puch … neither has he been submitted (correct me if i am wrong). The losses he has are by ground and pound , i.e., TKO.
It is very unlikely that Brock will knock out Mir or submit him. the only way he can win is by ground and pound. On the contrary Mir is a better boxer and a better ground fighter.
True Brock has come so far so fast and he needs to be admired for that. And since he has power, Brock does not need submission skills in his game (for the time being), but until Brock learns how to throw his hands, he will remain to be an incomplete fighter in MMA. My prediction is Mir will be the victor.
