good link Rob. When did people start hating Tito? Tito, IMO had one of the greatest strategies ever, i.e., be deadly from inside your opponents guard. This eliminates an opponents Jitz, doesn’t require any passing skills, and the opportunity arrises in almost ever fight unless you opponent has worldclass takedown defense. I still think Tito could take a lot of top LHWs.

Maybe Tito was made an example of. Maybe Dana wanted to send the message, “No one is too big to be cut.” Anyway, I like Dana, but I think it was a mistake to let Tito go.

RoB, there just has to be some kind of connection between you and Ortiz in order to explain your extreme nuthuggery when it comes to The Head. The guy just isn’t very likeable from a fan perspective. He constantly oversells his importance to this sport, he ducked Chuck while he was in his prime, and he has trouble speaking properly/clearly yet constantly runs his yap to anyone with a microphone. I mean, I understand that he was a big name in the early days but all his “outside of the cage” garbage has really hurt the guy’s long term credibility/respectability. So, how do you know Tito RoB? Facts are that TIto only chose to fight Chuck when he had no choice because Chuck had the title…Tito Disgraced the UFC title by refusing to fight Chuck who was the #1 contender at the time…I will never forget nor forgive that! The UFC title is a prestigious thing in my eyes, and I hate fighters who disgrace the title of being a champion. “the Head” preferred to run away from the UFC as champion, rather then defend it against Chuck! He only got the balls to fight Chuck when it was his only way of possibly getting the title!

Like I said earlier, I enjoy chatting with you on a daily basis rob, and we hardly ever agree….but man, I find it hard to even admit to knowing you when I see you defending “tHe Head”…lol Just teasin!

I think you got it wrong with the Machida and Rashad fights too, Machida was the one running around, in the Rashad fight Tito grabbed the fence twice but won anyways..

Great post Cogito. Rob, you can bash all of tito’s opponents, but I dont want to hear you bitch about Machida. That was a very entertaining performances on Machida’s part. I dont ever remember seeing a fighter get outclassed the way Tito was. Machida wasnt running…he was picking Tito apart and then making him miss. Seeing TITO SO FRUSTRATED WAS one of my favorite moments in UFC history. Those leg kicks, into a jumping roundhouse kick combo’s that Machida was throwing were incredible.

Lets not forget the Knee to the liver…that was bad ass! and it was one of my favborite fights of the year. Tito only landed about 2 shots, and a triangle choke in 15 minutes of action…masterful Performance by Machida!

I’m right about the Machida and Rashad fights. Machida never is aggressive so Tito should have prepared for that instead of looking scared to engage. Also there are point deductions for a reason, grabbing the fence multiple times is preventing your opponent from getting points on a take down and also from trying to finish you on the ground, hence why he lost points because he was scared to let Rashad take him down. Like I said tho, if Tito actually does fight some good competition (win or lose) I’ll start respecting him as a fighter again. Until then go do fake wrestling.

Think of what Ken has done for the sport… do you think he has a chance at becoming the best? Or is he on his down hill slope? Don’t like that example? How about Hughes (my favorite fighter)? People will always remember what these people have done for the sport and we will always thank them but there comes a time when you need to stop acting and realize that you just don’t belong here anymore. I’m willing to admit that Tito could turn it around granted he accepted some real fights and showed improved stand up and aggression… but seeing as that is probably not going to happen I don’t want to see him fight or hear him pretend he is going to fight. Let him go to the WWE where entertainers are needed and not real fighters.

let me just say that every pro sport is for entertainment, it’s on tv for entertainment, they pay the athletes for putting ppl in their seats.. this is an individual sport and getting your name out there is a must! that does not go for team sports cause then it’s about the team and who performs the best to make the team succesful that is important..
