Bas Ruttan is the best commentator in the WORLD!!!

Rogan knows his stuff, but is to biased towards certain fighters that at times he doesnt give an accurate description of whats going on. for example: the Chuck vs. Wanderlei fight. Both fighters were trading back and forth, but Rogan was only commenting on the strikes that chuck Landed. If a blind man was listening to that broadcast, he would have thought that Chuck was DOMINATING the entire fight, when in reality it was a very close fight until the 3rd round.

Goldberg is TRASH!!!! I can name about 30 people on this site that could do a better job than GOldberg. He has been working for the UFC for ages now, and he still doesnt know S**T! All he does is Ride Rogan’s coat tail, and recycles the same for lines over and over again!

I watched Saturday’s event while I had PhilQNY on the phone….now that Man knows his stuff! I learned more listening to phil break fights down, then I ever have listening to Rogan and Goldie!

Exactly John! Great post and Bas is the best commentator in the world. I would love to see him in the UFC, but I’m sure it would never happen.

John, I agree with you on Joe Rogan. I said he does a great job for the most part but then there are times he is biased like you said.

I guess I will have to listen to Goldberg more closely and hear what he says since there seemes to be a lot of people saying he is trash on here.

I don’t think it’s possible for Bas to go anymore downhill. The shallowness of his fight analysis is on par with Kenny rices nowadays. He just reads their fight record and says “he can win by submission or by knockout like me.” It’s like he doesn’t care anymore. At least not like in his pride days. Everything else, you say though john, is as usual on point.

Are you extemely high right now. You need to say no to crack. Bas is the best commentator their is. He can break down a fight like no one else plus his fight perdictions are that of Randy Couture. You must be mad at Bas for F***ing your women.

Its interesting how so many of you say “Mike Goldberg is shit or that he doesn’t know the sport, or that they ( Joe or Mike ) cant fight or dont know as much about MMA or UFC”…blah blah blah blah blah!
Jesus friggin Christ…you seriously are worse than a “ladies aid meeting” or a “Oprah/ Dr Phil audience”! Wow…truly A M A Z I N G how most of you actually don’t even know the sport enough to not “boo” while grappling is going on, or while someone is trying to pass guard….or EVEN better yet…..”booing” , yes “booing” while there are punches being exchanged-and a tiny “lull” happens because the fighters are trying feel each others game plan out so they try this or that. It is a chess match but in the octagon people! If caught in ONE mistake a fighter can loose a in an instant for what he’s trained hard -over 3 to 6 months for.
I feel very sorry for fighters when so called fans have such an deep stupidity and ignorance of how this sport is and that it isn’t just a big brawl, or a boxing match. Whats really sad is when you all don’t even know the rules- like no hitting to the back of the head, or knees to the head when the fighter is down on even one knee)
Thus that point brings me back to why the UFC announcers are EXTREMELY good at what they do, for 9 times out of 10 they NEED to explain things in great detail for those of you who “think” they know it all, but seriously and sadly DO NOT know this sport at all!!
Mike Goldberg does an great job for “play by play” (that is his job discript…HELLO ) and Joe does an great job with “color” ( and hopefully there is someone on this message board that knows what that means in live sports TV)!! Together Joe and Mike are the best team in MMA commentary. Period.
Joe and Mike work extremely hard at what they do, and if ANY of you feel you could do it better – well then maybe you should let your ASS cash the check that your MOUTH (and I really mean: self-satisfying, self-patronizing, self-made egos) is writing.
Do…DO PLEASE step up to the plate…have the balls you are so willing to cut off of other people and try out for the job – put up or shut up! I suspect that maybe…MAYBE 1% of you actually know what it takes to be in front of the cam or the mic to do that job…or if any of you have ever been trained in or are as well versed in multiple martial arts at one time. Its truly disturbing yet not that surprising to me how many proverbial “couch quarterbacks” there are in this world.

As far as a third person on the commentary team…there are guests from time to time, however just as ProKev mentioned – yes, 3 would be too many for every fight.

Back to what I was saying before -now that I think of it..Id like to know if any of you have ever stepped into the octagon ( which is a trademarked term used only by the UFC- so I dont mean anything OTHER than the UFC,UFC fight nights or the WEC- their sister company for lighter weight divisions- and if you didn’t know that and until now & thought all “cage” fighting was considered “the Octagon” now you learned something new…yippie! Glad I could help)
I am ashamed that MMA has such so called fans/followers and I think that maybe such “holier than thou” F%#ks would be better suited to go back watching the WWE.
I think that the majority of the mentality that I have witnessed with such posts in this thread is a much better fit for the “glam and faux” of the WWE.
As far as the true fans and those who are educated in the sport and the fighters and who are grateful of the announcers to inform and entertain us with play by play and interesting facts,possible next moves or just triva during the fights…I hope that you know you are VERY APPRECIATED and WELCOME by true fellow fans.
