Quoteworthy:
“San Antonio is very much on our radar. If we can make it work, it will happen. Our fans would like to take a walk on the River Walk. With the right fight, absolutely it would work there. We’re bullish on San Antonio.”
-Marc Ratner, vice president of government and regulatory affairs for the UFC, talks about Zuffa’s plans to hopefully return to the state of Texas at either the AT&T Center or the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio between September and December of 2009. The UFC’s first and only appearance in The Longhorn State was UFC 69 ‘Shootout,’ which drew a crowd of 15,000 fans at Houston’s Toyota Center and generated a live gate of $2.8 million – the largest gate in Toyota Center history. southern cal damn it!!
With all the problems they’ve had with the CSAC, you think they want to try to stage an event there? Come on down for some good barbecue, Tex-Mex and frozen ‘ritas.
i’m from texas! thats why i’m mad i’m usmc located here in socal now my family is from texas and 3-4 hrs from SA
yup, i’ll be going, i’m in houston and went to UFC 69, it was pretty good, been waiting for them to return to texas, they said maybe dallas in 08 but no deal.
Yep, that’s one of the great things about the UFC. They don’t put up with retarded commissions.
San Antonio is one of the coolest cities in America.
Hells yeah, the place they filmed “Cloak and Dagger” and the city of the second best team in the NBA, behind the Lakers, son!!!
Not sure what the river walk has to do with the UFC from the fans prospective.
Adult beverages!
I could probably make my first live show it they put one on in
San Antonio. It would be the first show within a reasonable driving distance for me. Awesome….fingers crossed.
Finally about time, ive been begging for another event in Texas every since UFC 69 in Houston. It was great, I got to meet Forrest and Leben and of course the excitment of being at the event live is amazing. Im in Houston and dont have a problem driving to San Antonio for an event. Come on Dana, lets make it happen
I’m in Dallas and if they bring a a UFC event to San Antonio I will make the 5 hour drive especially if its a good card! I wonder why they dont hold an event here at the AA center in Dallas? Art of War 1 was held there and it was awesome!
Cuban is 50% owner of the AAC, and he has competing interests, so he won’t allow Dana to have an event in his arena. Just a guess.
unless it was broadcast on hdnet
ufc in texas sounds awesome….im from henderson,nv but am stationed in ft.hood….hopefully ufc comes to s.a. but have been to ufc 66,74,84 and 94 in a few weeks….vegas is the one you want….the shows are so much more entertaining….and for those that want to meet fighters, trainers etc….u r bound to meet them in the hotels. casinos the strip….i love the fights in las vegas….but bring them to the lone star state bout 3 times a year….since im stationed there….hehehe…..enjoy the fights
Hell Yeah! I live in Corpus Christi and that’s only 120 miles away…….. It would make the trip so much cheaper
i am going to colunmbus but if san antonio it goes i might take the flight to go to texas
OMG! I HOPE SO! I live in Corpus Christi also… I’d love for this to happen!
I am from San Antonio and would love to fly there from vegas to watch a ufc with my dad…
I’m from laredo. 150 miles away. MMA is pretty popular here. I would love to go if I wasn’t so poor.
I had tickets to UFC 69. My grandmother died a week before the show and I ended up watching from Oklahoma where the funeral was at. I’m excited about this, I’ll drive to San Antonio to see it.
If this is the case I’ll try to make it down from Dallas.
YESSS! Please make this happen, UFC!!
I’m in Houston and like the rest of these guys I would definitely make it to SA for the fight.
