It only took a year and perhaps a struggling economy for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) to finally distribute a version of “Octagon” that most fans can afford.
The book, which has more than 800 four-color and black-and-white photographs, was printed and hand bound in Italy, weighing over 50 pounds. It ranged in price from $2,500 to $7,500, depending on the edition.
The commercial edition, which has all the same pictures but comes in a smaller-sized book, will retail for about $40. And to kick-off the latest (and cheapest) version of “Octagon,” the promotion is putting together a nationwide awareness blitz on December 15.
Here are the details:
“Join fighters of the UFC for the release of the trade edition of Octagon book at Barnes & Noble. Fighters will sign purchased copies.”

LOL, go to san jose to meet mike swick??? nope, he may swick out on me or give me a swickatine if he finds out how much I bash Kos!
would anyone on this site (normal guys, not introvert) spend that kind of coin on a book? I mean come on, unless it gives me a rub and tug every week for a year, it’s a book!
Hey, I have to drive to LA to meet Karo and Kevin Lynch. LMAO! Karo was 2 feet away from me in Vegas and all I wanted to do was throw my beer on him. If I got the book as a gift I would be happy, I will never pay for it myself. The UFC already gets $45 buck a month from me.
diego sanchez for san diego? lol that figures, i think ill go have an intelligent conversation with him… or not
They said the new version of the boook is only $40.00. Yes, I would absolutely spend 40 bucks for a book. What books are you reading? Goosebumps from WalMart? I may not spend 40 bucks for this book though, but only because I am not really that interested in it.
goosbumps are one of my son’s favorite seies!! lol
But it was bound in Italy! You know by italians. Are you so dumb you can’t see that added valeu?
I was bound in Italy once, and it didn’t cost me no $2500, I’ll tell you that.
Good stuff.
$40 bucks too much for you Kev? Tough times indeed.
I would get this for some friends as a gift if I could get a decent autograph. As it is a 2 hour trip to Sac for a James Irvin sig is not cutting it.
lol, was wondering who the first guy to call me out on that would be, obviously I’m talking about the 2k+ version!
hey guys, went 11-5 yesterday, NFL up big! 100 a game. tonights picks:
houston
over
any thoughts?!!
I have a sure fire one for ya.
$200 says Tony K makes an idiotic remark while Jaws tries to sound intelligent while they both completely ignore the replay showing what actaully happened on the play and fail to discuss said replay.
Easy money.
Kevin, I gave you some thoughts, but got moderated or something.
lol, true too, thats a sure bet!
Ohh, the 2K+ book. Yeah, I would spend that much, on the first printing of the bible, not a UFC book. haha
For the Record Kevin its spelled “Swickotinne”. Just kidding!
RiverHorror-for the record it’s “Swickotine.” lol
Dude! lol. I pay $7500 for a book, it better come with orally talented women.
$7500 on a woman? what are you kidding? don’t you know you can get a book?!!
Iv’e met most of these fighters…so no need for me to go. But i’ll get the book anyway. Hopefully its good.
For any Brits out there, Bisping (obviously) is doing a signing at Zavvi on oxford street and Birmingham:
“British UFC superstar Michael Bisping will be signing copies of new UFC book ‘UFC Octagon’ at 5:30pm on Thursday 4th December at the Oxford Street zavvi store and 5:30pm on Friday 5th December at the Birmingham zavvi store.”
I’ll probably go to San Diego to meet the nightmare. I only saw him once at the weigh in for UFC 79 when he fought fitch.
He fought Fitch at UFC 76.
Why not come to Kansas City?
that’s what I was wondering where at in kc do u live?
Why not St.louis
WTF no cleveland, throw in the meat cleaver forrest petz!
How about someone one the east coast. Maybe someone like in Washington DC or in Pittsburgh. These two cities are mad for the UFC as well. Hey – Koscheck and others are from the western PA area.
Houston Alexander? HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!
Glad to see you back, Mexi.
Say what you may, but he has given us two exciting knock outs (albeit disappointing since then), looks cool, seems to be a good family guy, and is Nebraska’s own, which is the most important part.
“looks cool” thats how I rate guys who fight too!! lmao!!
We need BROCK to show up in MPLS!!!
“It ranged in price from $2,500 to $7,500, depending on the edition.”
Wow, That must be some rare picture of Marvin Eastman…
yeah, it was a picture of him winning a fight.
I’d want an Irvin signature. The guy might not be the best fighter but that dude can fight. Win or lose you always get a fairly entertaining fight or a great knockout. Anyone know how long he’s suspended for or if he’s getting the boot?
No Philidelphia! Bull Shit. I know MMA isn’t sanctioneds in PA, but Come on. How bout somewhere in Jersey with Frankie Edgar? Come on now.
I think he was suspended for 9 months… I hope he doesn’t get the boot, ive always liked him, he’s comes to fight and could still have some exiting fights in the ufc.
WTF?The best fighter they could find in vegas for this thing was Bonner?
Don’t complain too much. We got Guida and it ain’t even in the city of Chicago. Oak Brook is some podunk suburb of Chicago.
Big deal
Serra in Long Island…what a shock…
I love it/find it amusing when you come out of ab-so-lute-ly NOWHERE with a little dig on someone in your posts!
I am a big Alves fan, but that is a retarded amount for this book, even if you do get to meet your favorite fighter. This is also unfortunately the most the average mma fan can comprehend as far as books go. Excluding you guys of course
maybe melvin will show up to get richs autograph lol j/k. i live like 10 min away from that barnes n noble and rich is a good guy so ill let him sign my book lol
LAME !!!
I’ll sign some of your guys’ books in the KC area…look me up on Sherdog’s fight finder!
Man no one doing any apperance’s in Texas, that sucks. Give us Junie Browning, I’ll go up there and gladly torment him. It would be funny too see that Trailor park trash go insane and start throwing books around
why no anywhere in canada?
I’ll wait till it’s in the clearance bin.
