An explosive match up between heavy-handed welterweights Dan Hardy (20–6) and Rory Markham (16-4) is in the works for UFC 95 from the O2 Arena in London, England, on February 21, according to MMAWeekly.com.

Hardy lived up to his billing as the top British 170-pound prospect in his Octagon debut with a hard-fought split decision win over the crafty Akihiro Gono at UFC 89: “Bisping vs. Leben” last month.

With the win, “The Outlaw” kept his red hot win streak intact, taking nine of his last 10 fights. And the lone loss during that span was because of a disqualification. It won’t get any easier, however, for the former Cage Warriors welterweight champion … he has essentially been thrown into the deep end in a very deep division right off the bat.

Markham is a super tough competitor who has also been on a tear of his own of late. The former International Fight League (IFL) welterweight standout continued that success within the eight-sided cage, kicking off his UFC career with a bang … literally.

He nearly decapitated Brodie Farber at UFC Fight Night 14 back in July, earning “Knockout of the Night” honors for the scary finish. It has to rank among the best knockouts of the 2008 fight campaign.

But that’s Markham’s MO — the Miletich-trained fighter has never gone the distance in 20 professional fights — win or lose — since his pro debut back in 2003. He comes to scrap and leaves it all on the table … just ask notable opponents such as Mike Pyle, Brad Blackburn and, of course, Mr. Farber.

Nice this is exactally the fight I wanted to see. Markham is coming off that HUGE head kick against Brodie Farber and Hardy just picked up the big win over Gono. Should be a good one.

Hardy is not as heavy handed as Rory but probly more technical, So this will be the usual Markham fight where he gets lit up early but gets the KO.

Was Markham’s KO that kick to the face? If that was it, then yea that was pretty nasty.

Yes, I’m back. Can anyone fill me in on the major things that have happened in the last 45 days or so? I know about the PPV results and stuff, so anything other than that will suffice.

Possible HW fight between Couture/Liddell

Fitch getting fired from the UFC for not signing the Video Game contract! But then rehired for signing the contract!

Werdum was let go!

Jake Shields wants to come to the UFC!

Cung Le has about 3 movies lined up and probably wont fight at all in 2009!

Golden Boy is going to put Margarito/Mosley on Jan. 24th on HBO! That fight being on the same day of Affliction is going to kill them!

Cant think of much else?

Mex, it was something about Affliction acting like they had a partnership with Golden Boy. All to distract people from them postponing their card from Oct. to Jan.

Thanks man. I just read the new post of the semi’s for TUF. I’d like to see Efrain beat Junie to set up a match against Nover.

Who the hell is going to skip the Affliction card to watch Shane Mosley get his ass kicked the guy can’t compete with Margarito at this point in his career. It’s a waste of time.

JV that is the most ignorant statement ever… why does it matter if theyre going under? so if you had several of your favorite fighters on the card you wouldnt watch it? right…

I have heard that Hardy could be facing Karo Parisyon or Diego Sanchez. Hardy is a stand out fighter and at 26 has a good chance of being a future champ, he keeps getting better and better!
