The official weigh-in event for UFC 91: “Couture vs. Lesnar” today took place from a jam-packed MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. All fighters set to compete on the card made their respective marks on the scale.
As promised, ESPN.com provided in-depth coverage of the festivities before, during and after the weigh in. While there were no real surprises, perhaps the biggest storyline heading into the show is that UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture tipped the scale at just 220 pounds.
Meanwhile, his opponent Brock Lesnar came in at a massive 265 pounds. That’s a 45-pound difference — the equivalent of a big lightweight fighting a small light heavyweight.
Yikes.
The special guest ESPN announcers, including Frank Mir and Stephan Bonnar, indicated that it is likely on purpose to provide “The Natural” with a speed and cardio edge that will carry him to victory.
We’ll find out tomorrow night.
In the meantime, here are the official UFC 91 weigh-in results:
265 lbs.: UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture (220) vs. Brock Lesnar (265)
155 lbs.: Kenny Florian (156) vs. Joe Stevenson (156)
265 lbs.: Gabriel Gonzaga (256) vs. Josh Hendricks (238)
185 lbs.: Demian Maia (185) vs. Nate Quarry (185)
170 lbs.: Dustin Hazelett (170) vs. Tamdan McCrory (170)
155 lbs.: Jorge Gurgel (155) vs. Aaron Riley (156)
155 lbs.: Jeremy Stephens (155) vs. Rafael dos Anjos (155)
155 lbs.: Alvin Robinson (155) vs. Mark Bocek (155)
170 lbs.: Matt Brown (171) vs. Ryan Thomas (170)
*Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight night, which is slated to air at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on November 15. Of course, the latest quick updates of the prelim bouts will begin to flow earlier than that at around 8:30 p.m. ET.
It’s going to be a fun night of fights … check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight coverage you can handle.

not one 205 fight
i would pee my pants if lesnar cant make weight!
I can’t help but loke Mir as a commentator!!!
weigh in is working!!!
wow, a live broadcast from the weigh ins…this is a big event!!!!!
loving it!!
Randy looks so much smaller than Brock. I can see a ton of speed and cardio advantage going towards Randy. Brock might not necessarilly gas, but I could easily see Randy being less tired in the later rounds than Brock is. It’s going to be difficult for Randy to get a grip on Brock in the later rounds being as Brock sweats so profusely. (As seen in the all access episode leading up to UFC 81) I can’t help but think of Royce Gracie vs Dan Severn. Unfortunatly, this isn’t the same type of match up stylistically. Mir vs Lesnar was much more similar. However, Randy is a crafty veteran. He may not be a BJJ expert, but he certainly has enough experience with it to submit a rookie like Brock Lesnar. I don’t see Randy trying to finish Brock with a submission, but I do see Randy trying to frustrate Brock with frequent submission attempts. This might frustrate Brock enough to allow the fight to go to the feet. If he does that, he will be trading with a quicker and more experienced fighter in Randy Couture. Randy has outstruck dangerous strikers such as Tim Sylvia and Chuck Liddell. I am pretty sure that he could outstrike Lesnar. Even Heath Herring was able to avoid punches from Brock after that first punch. Bear in mind, he avoided these punches with a broken orbital bone.(which impaired his vision) I have heard several arguements as to why either fighter could win this fight. I agree with all of the arguements for the most part. Regardless, I am leaning towards Randy Couture as being the victor. I am a huge fan of Brock and I fully understand that he could easily prove me wrong, but I’m pretty sure that Randy Couture has proved me wrong much more than Brock Lesnar has.
2 years of BJJ is hardly a rookie. Especially someone training BJJ 6 days a week! NEXT EXCUSE?
Three years of training in MMA and only 3 MMA fights to your name sounds like a rookie to me. Excuse? For what?
he in no way has 2 years jits, and thats an infant mike, get a clue man, he’s no BJ penn!
ok guys, I’m actually pumped for this fight, the weigh in is finally working for me, and I like the espn commentary! I like florian, like quarry, though maia is a good fighter, but not readuyI don’t think! lmao…commercials for the weigh in!
couture in the 3rd or 4th
waiting for stare down!
220!!! quick randy!!! smart move, can’t make up strength, but speed is good!
kev, maybe that is a good idea, but randy does not look good in that pic. wish i had watched the weigh ins live. he looks like an old guy in good shape there instead of an elite athlete who is gettin up there. look at the skin hanging over his shorts and stuff. I’ve thought Brock was gonna win from the start with a few second guessings about Randy being too experienced in there, but now i’m actually a little afraid for Randy. He does not look like a guy capable of taking out a monster like Brock. I hope you are right.
Gonzaga looked fat. Demian looked on point even though the fans were giving Wand more props. McLovin has a serious beard. And i don’t care what anyone says, couture’s comment at the end was a shot at nogueira. Also Brock has lost the mental battle already.
how do you figure?
Didn’t you see how pissed Brock was at the booing? He easily gets irritated and he said himself that now it’s b/t him, handy and the fans. He was all tense compared to randy. The media also seems to piss him off too.
Just undiscovered Roid Rage .lol.
Oh good, they changed the article… When they first posted this, they stated that Brock used his one pound allowance and came in at 265. Last I checked, the weight limit was 265 and there is no one pound allowance in title fights. That irked me lol
doesn’t look like anyone of these guys should miss weight.
man, I hope the live feed works for once, I always get pumped to watch it, and the feed always sucks!!!
Kev- Your Jorge Gurgel t-shirt was hilarious yesterday!!
thanks man, if I don’t win or at least place, I know that mania hates me!! I don’t think he does, and I think I had some good ones! I like the kimbo homeless one myself!
Live feed? How do I access it?
Me too!! Anyways this is one fight where I am really struggling to find a winner, simple fact that not really sure just how good brock is yet, also how big a difference size will be? Further Randy hasnt fought in over a year, getting older, can he cope with the bigger, stronger, fitter moth athletic guy? Alot is being placed on Randys experience, however im not so sure, if he was a great bjj practioner then maybe, but he is going to have to rely on his wrestling ans striking to get him through i feel.
edge for some reason is for brock, however i really cant decide??
Hay Mo, you read my mind. I feel the same. Although I am a big Brock fan, I see Brock winning this fight by STEAM-ROLLING, for the reasons you gave above(hasn’t fought ia 18 months, Brock is fitter, bigger, stronger, and more athletic). What does that leave? Wrestling? Brock is the best wrestler in the UFC. Striking? Brock will hit harder and can take a better punch.(He’s been hit in the head by steal chairs harder the Randy can punch.). Brock will go on to win the HW Title. Mark My Words!!!!!!

im watching on espn from the uk can someone tell me how long 8:30 p.m. ET. is? is it 30 minutes?
technically it is zero minutes long. It means 8:30 eastern time zone
whats that site called where you can watc the fights online? i always forget
channelsurfing.net
they should of had it live on tv. but this will do.
sweet, thanks!!
Justin.tv or Channelsurfing.net or a few other places i like to keep secret!
I SO watching everything related, AND counting down til tomorrow! Experience vs. shear force! This is gonna be such a great match, although I’m taking Lesnar. Great update!!
Experience vs. Shear Force. Looking SO forward to this match up and can’t believe it’s finally a day away!! Great update!
christ i want randy to win but i got lesnar by tko in the first i cant get over that weight difference sorry randy im betrayin you but i just dont see how your going to win
randy can’t knock Lesnar down with punches, randy can’t keep lesnar against the fence to dirty box him, randy can’t out wrestle Lesnar, and the only way Lesnar can lose is to a black belt in BJJ or someone just as big and athletic as he is-
Good stream i got on espn! Randy will get destroyed i don’t even think he has a speed or cardio advantage! Frank Mir says its good to come in a 220.
Yea, Geesh Lesnar looked HUGE ! But let’s go JOE DADDY and COUTURE, That’s right, I’m taking the underdogs.
Yeah I can back that. Couture and Stevenson, I will be a happy happy man if they can both pull it off.
Any pictures of Gonzaga and Lesner side by each?
220 for Randy. I weigh 220, but of course a lot of that is not functional strength, but it used to be. I played rugby at about 225, football and soccer too.
Of course in non of those sports do you cut weight…
gonzaga is fat, let’s go bet on hendricks, even though he looked terrible as well..
wow this is the lightest randy has come into heavyweights in a while… thats an insane amount of weight to make up for…
As many have already said, Randy might be coming in light for a good reason. There is no chance that he will overpower Brock and I think it is clear that Brock will be able to handle Randys weight the same whether he is 220 or 230. The loss of weight will do much more for Randy than for Brock. In other words, it will work towards Randys advantage.
jared this is MMA and the natural has defied the odds before, I honestly don’t know who will win, and won’t be too surprised if either guy wins.
wow, brock is basically fighting a lhw. randy had better move around fast!
Probably the strategy. Your right though, many lhw’s come into their fights at around 220.
i no its just mma thats just a huge obstacle that randys facing and i just want to see how he deals with it
Anyone got a link where I can watch the weigh ins?
man i thought that couture will come into the weigh ins as close as 265 just to get have a strength as psoibly he can to face Lesnar, but he’s tip in 220! but i guess captain america has a plan. who knows….
lol @ you thinking couture would get anywhere close to 265.
Frank Mir thinks its a good idea coming in at 220 for speed and stamina advantage! But i don’t see know speed and stamina advantage its a myth.
maybe couture accepted the fact that he’ll goin to lose in this fight base on point system, so he just decided to tip in 220 so he can have enough endurance to try to look for the finish lesnar by any means in whole 5 rounds.
does he realize lesnar fights at nearly 285. herring weighed in at 250 or 255 and still looked small against buh buh buh buh buh buh buhrock. Mir acts like he is so f**kin’ smart. what a tool, if brock hadn’t been so inexperienced in their fight, mir would probably not even be mentioned anymore.
i bet Brock could eat Randy in one sitting.
Cant wait
“Meanwhile, his opponent Brock Lesnar used his one pound allowance”
1. he didn’t need the weight allowance, the limit is 265lbs and he weighed in at 265
2. there is no allowance, it’s a title fight
3. fix yo shit!
Non titles have a 2 pound allowance, title fights have 1 pound allowance.
You were good kid, real good, but as long as im around you’ll always be second best ya see?
There is no allowance for title fights. Just ask Lutter.
265 is the limit and Brock made weight.
yeah yeah yeah that’s what I meant, you guys must have read it wrong or something.
Do the comments work/
Fixed.
don’t answer to these guys mania!! it’s your site!
hey why couldn’t I make a comment on mir’s assistants thread??
Brock will man handle Couture!!! there is no way he will handle the animal Lesnar!
rANDy would win hands down…if brock wont use his steroids in this fight he’s gona beat up..i remember olympian kurt angle said against Brock.that brock cant handle pressure back in the day in wrestling..thats why he needs the juice…he’s a mentos hard on the outside soft in the inside
There is no allowance for title fights Brock made weight.
Wow. Randy looks like a 98 pound weakling standing next to Brock. I don’t normally bet, but I might have to put something down on Brock this time. I am afraid Brock may hurt Randy badly.
I hope Couture pulls this win off.
I’m actually nervous, I don’t want Lesnar to have the belt.
wouldn’t it suck if Brock lands one of them sledge hammer fists in the 1st 20 seconds of the fight and it is over…..
I hope Randy takes it because I don’t think Brock should be fighting for a belt & I don’t want to see Brock do his head bob to “Brock Brock” like he did in the last fight. He must have had a WWE flash back. LOL
Gonzaga looks to be in horrible shape, he’s fatter than ever! he must have been hanging out with Werdum too much..
sry he actually looks good to the untrained softy Hendricks..
Couture knew he couldn’t out muscle Brock so he came in light incase the fight went deep into the championchip round which Randy is made for.
Randy by split decicion.
How on earth are any of you taking Couture. Lesnar has this for sure. It’s been over a year since Couture fought!! He’s 45 for Christ’s sake. This is a ridiculous freak-show bout that Randy might actually get killed in.
Despite all of this, I’m rooting for Randy. I mean I want him to win but god I’m scared for him.
14 years, 60 pounds… Think about it guys. Randy won’t be faster here, and did Brock show any signs of fatigue in his 3 round fight against Heath Herring? No, he really didn’t. He did show amazing control and ferociousness athleticism though.
People keep mentioning Randy’s age like it is a bad thing. When Randy was younger and LESS experienced had some trouble with bigger guys. What part of Randy’s last 8 rounds at a relentless pace, where he DOMINATED bigger (YOUNGER) guys, leads you to believe his age is somehow a liability, rather than an asset, due to his increased experience and SKILLS. Which one of them has abused his body for years and which one has led a life condusive to slowing down the ageing process. Randy has said, he will quit when he feels he can no longer competitively compete. That day hasn’t come yet, so his age is just a number. Randy has an advantage, BECAUSE of his age. If Randy was 12 years younger, he would just be a smaller Brock Lesnar (wrestler only) and Brock would have the size advantage. Randy is way smarter and way more advanced in MMA. That’s why Randy WILL win.
god all of us are afraid for randy haha i think hell pull it off i get the feeling hes going to surprise us with his gameplan and just wreck the fuck out lesnar
whoa i was just watchin the weigh in again and josh hendricks has these big ass bumps all over his arms and shit i wonder what the hell those are
Like Randy said,”Brock comes at you like a freight train, but it’s not easy for that freight train to change directions”. You watch, Randy will out maneuver him and get his back.
