Nate has very good taken down defense and when he’s on the bottom it’s very hard to keep him there. His jits game is also better than many realize. I have Nate winning this fight by strikes.

I don’t particularly find Quarry’s striking to be advanced. He has a lot of power but not that technical. I forsee Maia go for a single leg and if quarry defends well, then pull guard from the clinch for a triangle; otherwise RNC.

And as far as being a jits guy he is a black belt, titles or not that qualifies him as a jits guy.

Not comparing, just replying to Wow’s comment way up above that even though he thinks Phalares and a few others are overrated, going the distance with Hendo is impressive.

McDonald is very well versed in submissions. HE has 17 submission wins out of 21 fights, all ranging from chokes, to heel hooks and key locks. The hardest guys to submit are submission guys. Macdonald is much better then he gets credit for. He defended all of Maia’s submission attempts excellently. Of Macdonalds 10 loses only 3 come from submission, so I think more credit should be given to Macdonald then Maia not being able to submit him in the first few attempts.

If it goes to the ground you have to give it to Maia, but I think that Quarry will be too strong and powerful for Maia to take him down and Quarry will have him knocked out by the end of the second round. Quarry has shown that he can take a beating in the Sell fight and still end up winning. Maia will not be used to that sort of punishment, and I think that will be the deciding factor. Should be a good fight.

gotta love quarry. but he isnt as fast or manuverable as pre-surgery. even pete sell was catching him (knockdown). i give it to maia early
