Quoteworthy:

“From the beginning it (a reality show) was something always in our plans. Versus, we’re in discussions with Versus. We’re looking right now at trying to figure out what we’re going to do exactly. We’ve got a lot of ideas. We want to find ways similar to the UFC to showcase our fighters on a more consistent basis. I don’t know if we’ll do exactly what the UFC did with The Ultimate Fighter, but we do have plans for a reality show of some nature, possibly soon and launching in 2009.”

-WEC Vice President Peter Dropick on replicating the success of The Ultimate Fighter – which gave its parent company Zuffa unprecedented success. Is the promotion trying to offset the upcoming elimination of its light heavyweight and middleweight divisions in 2009? With WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho, WEC Light Heavyweight Champion Steve Cantwell, Chael Sonnen, Brian Stann and several others being folded into the UFC talent pool, the WEC is going to have to do something special – and in a hurry – to make up for the superstar exodus.

ive seen a few excerpts from faber’s show and it looks ok. it just follows him around in his everyday life, training, at home, pulling pranks. i dont think it is a contest where someone gets to actually fight faber at the end, unlike the premise of the “fighting fedor” reality show. they definetly need to do something with faber to get him out there more in the general publics eye.

i think he just needs to put on some weight and move up to 155, or go to japan… fighting scrubs in the WEC isnt going to build his name

To the casual fan, they are. Most fans started watching after Pulver passed his prime.

jens no, curran… while he does have alot of experience he hasnt beat anyone in the top 15-20, japan has alot of good 145ers though so i think that should be his destination

BW, by the sounds of what I just read, it seems like they havent even begun filming. How did you already see clips? Maybe you are thinking of that WEC preview show they had leading up to his fight with Pulver

Yeah Kev – that’s typically what happens when #1 faces #2. With the exception of GSP/Fitch and… Ok. I’ll stop being a smartass… LOL

I haven’t seen anything on this, and it could bring new fans in, he’s a young charismatic kid. I personally am already a fan of faber and mma, but sick of reality shows, maybe I’d catch an episode or two on a friday when nothing else is on (dvr), but not really interested otherwise!

if faber were to move up to 155 in the ufc, he would have plenty of legit fights and fighters who have more of a chance at beating him.

Faber is sick!!, but once he’s cleaned out the division i think he should move up to 155, he’ll have alot more problems in that weight class he already lost to tyson griffin…

Deff too small for 155…. I wanna see him keep dominating 145, lets see the wec get some more contenders!!
If leonard garcia beats pulver id expect him to challenge faber next…

Where is din thomas? he was suppose to move to the wec at 145.

Faber vs Kid Yamamoto needs to happen asap! I know Yamamoto is injured right now but when he’s healed who dosn’t want to see that fight.

2008-11-02 19:03:03

thats what I wrote, but it was omitted. He either has to move to 155 and be small or fight kid!

ABSOLUTELY KEVIN!!! The only fights I even care about Urijah taking part in is the Kid fight or If Miguel Torres moved up to 145 lbs. If He wants to stay at 145 lbs, then he should head over to Japan….because as much as I like Urijah, I dont really care about his fights because he is not fighting Elite Competition.

People bitch about Fedor’s opponents….But Urijah gets a free pass? All the best 145 ers are in Japan, and Urijah hasnt fought any of them!

I’d way rather have a WEC reality show on versus then Tapout.

Comment by ViolentMike
2008-11-03 10:15:27

Once you get past those two retards, TapOut is actually GREAT Show. You get to see way more training on there than on TUF. Plus you get to see them training at thier own camps. And they are fighters that you will potentially see in the UFC a couple years down the lines. It allows you to follow and watch a young fighters career progress.

When TapOut first came out, I watched 10 minutes and HATED it. Didn’t watch it again for weeks. But then I gave it another shot and watched an episode from beginning to end. At that point I was hooked and have seen every single episode.

off topic, but my buddy bought those same exact mitts, for 90$. I bought mine for ten (not the same mitts). is there anyone who trains or boxes who can tell me the difference? unless its just quality, then thats what i figured. but is there a real difference?
