cung le

Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le (6-0) graces the cover of the December issue for Black Belt magazine.

The talented Vietnamese striker and Tae Kwon Do black belt has not competed since capturing his title from Frank Shamrock back in March. He recently stated that he’ll stay on the sidelines and continue to be out of action until early 2009 because of other commitments, including his role as Marshall Law in the big screen Hollywood adaptation of the popular video game Tekken.

The December issue of Black Belt is now on sale right here.

I would like to see him fight Silva. He’s probibly the only guy that has the potential to hang with Anderson on his feet. I still think Anderson would win, but it would be a fight.

Kevin is absolutely correct, Le would get destroyed. I don’t even think he could hang with Robby Lawler let alone Silva. I would like to see Le fight in the UFC so he would get destroyed by someone like Marquardt.

I’m not saying he has any chance of beating Silva. Let me be clear, HE HAS NO CHANCE OF BEATING ANDERSON, but he has the portential to have comprible stand up. Le was a world champion striker, you have to believe that it’s possible for him to hang with Silva on the feet.

i would like too see an opponent at least try and take le down insted of always playing into his strengths.( i dont know what f. shamrock was thinking, his ego most likely) he does have an ok college wrestling background, but i would like to see how he would do if he fought someone who could and would put him on his back and had good bjj. jake shields perhaps? shields had talked about moving up to 185 to fight lawler, why not le. i would love to see shields in the ufc, but would’nt complain if where to fight cung he strikeforce.

Is there an article in that magazine about “How to defend a mma title” aswell? Because if there is Cung Le needs to read it.

Cung Le is my favorite striker to watch. His kicks all have perfect form and are lightening fast. I have only seen him fight twice, butn neither fight involved any ground action. It would be interesting to see what kind of ground game he has. It is hard to predict how he would do against Anderson Silva, but that would be a blockbuster fight.

It’s very little, but in the Sam Morgan fight, a good deal of it was on the ground, and it was actually Le’s corner that screwed him over. Le had a kimura on Morgan from side control and he really could have submitted Morgan with it. He looked over at his corner though and they kept yelling at him to let it go.

His BJJ isn’t top-level, but he really could have a submission win on his record right now, if his corner had believed in him.

he needs to defend already, it would be fine if he didnt have the title but it’s way too long to hold onto the title without a defense

Cung Le is also really good at throws. Frank did take him down but he got right up. This guy would be a fun fight to watch against Anderson Silva. If it stayed on the feet Le might win.

Cung Le would beat Silva, the reason why.. Silva would try and stand with Le , and has faster feet and more powerful than Silva and would drop him with a head kick.

I would like to see Silva fight Lee. Silva would break his jaw.

Cung Le should defend his belt at least once before handing out mma advice. He fought cans before he fought Shamrock and Frank didn’t even attempt a takedown. Sorry Le I think you’re way overrated in mma.

i dont know why you guys are compaing Cung to Anderson, so what if Cung is just as good on the feet (i doubt he is)? You think anderson would have any trouble getting him down and submitting him? I surely dont. It might be a stand-up war, but if silva got sick of that it would be over.

Cung has better wrestling than Anderson does. Silva has better BJJ. Cung has better kicks, Anderson has better knees and boxing.

Anderson would most likely TKO Cung, but with crisper boxing.

That all makes sense to me, but do you really see anderson TKO’ing him with his boxing? Obviously you have a little more knowledge then i do, but i feel like Cung stays far enough away and is quick/elusive enough to really negate boxing, even at silvas level. It might work but i dont see Anderson fists ending this fight for him. I think it would probably end with a submission or Headkick (by either guy). If Anderson Didn’t push the pace, maybe decision but that’s doubtful IMO.

Lemme hear back Space!

I’d like to see Le-Silva just because Anderson wouldn’t be able to dick around on the feet like he did against Cote.
