The fight card for WEC 36, which will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., on November 5, was made final and official yesterday by the Zuffa-owned mixed martial arts promotion.
It is scheduled to air live on the Versus network, beginning at 9 p.m. ET next Wednesday night.
As expected, the main event will feature “The California Kid” Urijah Faber (21-1) defending his 145-pound featherweight title for the sixth time against American Top Team product Mike Brown (19-4).
Brown has recent victories over Yves Edwards and Jeff Curran and hasn’t lost a fight since late in 2005. His lone victory under the WEC banner came in June at WEC 34 against Curran.
Here are his thoughts on the fight:
“I just want the win. I don’t care how it comes. I just want to be the No. 1 guy … this is the biggest fight of my life.”
There are plenty of other intriguing match ups on hand for this event as well, including former lightweight champ “Razor” Rob McCullough (16-4) taking on undefeated Greg Jackson trainee Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (8-0), as well as Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia (15-3) locking horns with former UFC champion Jens “Little Evil” Pulver (22-9-1) just to name a few.
Oh, and WEC Middleweight Champion Paulo Filho will attempt to dismember Chael Sonnen in their 185-pound rematch.
Here’s the complete WEC 36 fight card:

WEC 36 was originally scheduled for September 10 in South Florida, but the threat of Hurricane Ike in the area caused promotion officials to reschedule the event for November 5 “just in case.” Because of the switch, there are a few subtle changes to the fight card from its original form.

I’m glad they rescheduled this, November has somewhat of an MMA drought in contrast with December which has 4 or 5 cards atleast.
I was really looking forward to EliteXC’s show.. but that is gone now.
Wonder where Alvarez will go.
He’s already there, Japan. Although he would be a contender at 155lbs immmediately in the UFC, Alvarez should bolster that NYE show for DREAM. This card looks exciting, even the under card, especially Maeda v. Rani.
take fedor away and this card is better than affliction easily!!
Yeah, this is a great looking card. Should be a great night of fights. That is unless Filho is too depressed to fight.
lol
Even with fedor in it.
didn’t want to be the one to say it, but you’re right!
was gonna say it, but wanted to be nice
wrong! ill tell you one thing though… this card is better than ufc 91!
Solid card. Looking forward to Filho’s fight.
Sonnen is losing an arm for sure. There is gonna be controversy, am telling you.
Two title fights, a No. 1 contender fight between Razor and Cowboy, a slugfest between Pulver and Garcia, plus two undefeateds at MW. What a card! Even out of all that, the Maeda-Yahya fight still has FotN potential.
Awesome card… Just a little strange Zuffa is competing with Zuffa on a Wednesday night.
Oh sh*t! I hadnt even noticed that! Thats why I say the DVR is one of the best investments!
DVR is the best… Especially when I am watching something my wife has no interest in, like any MMA related TV, if she tries to talk my ear off, I just hit pause, look over and she realizes its time to hurry up or shut up.
LMFAO! Thats exactly what happens! But I love the fact that I have (TUF) (InsideMMA) (MonsterQuest)(Gangland) (Street Customs)(American Chopper) and a few other shows that are set. Cause I can just get home at what ever time, see whats on the list and skip through comercials
There is really no excuse not to have 1, isn’t it only like 5-10 bucks a month? I got TUF, UFC Unleashed, UFC Wired, Deadliest Catch, Heroes, Entourage, True Blood and all my wife’s damn Novelas.
lol “novelas” you mean like entourage, brotherhood and tuf!?
how is true blood? i saw a preview, it looked good!
“Novelas” LMAO! Im glad my girl doesnt like that sh*t! But I have to deal with Bridezillas, Judge Judy, John & Kate plus 8, shows like that.
I guess TUF is the male version of a novela, probably worse judgeing by this season. True Blood is a pretty bad a$$ show. I always liked vampire crap so if you do check it out.
JV, LMAO at Bridezillas. At least with the novelas I don’t understand what they are saying and the chicks in them are always hot!
they sure are, I see them on at break time at work sometimes (janitors watching) wow, bunch of hot spanish bitches!!!
lol, I guess you guys are right!
just watched the 1st episode of true blood, was kinda slow, but seemed worth watching episode 2. Thanks BNF, good looking out!
1 hour long HBO dramas are never really action packed, but it is still a good show and will get better, trust me.
you see, I always find myself cursing entourage because it’s not an hour. True blood definitely got my attention!
yes, that is wierd. i know spike usually airs tuf 2 times in a row, so maybee the wec show will be over by the 2nd airing. other than that, its dvr time for tuf.
it’s not by design, the initial wec event was cancelled because of hurricane. now they are at the mercy of when the hard rock could accommodate them. wec events are usually on sunday, but I bet if you check it out, something is going on on sundays at the hard rock for the next few months!
the police are doing shows there on sunday nights…
there you go!
WEC events aren’t usually on Sundays. They are typically on Wednesday nights. I believe that WEC 33 and 34 (the two previous ones) were like the first ones that were on Sunday instead of Wednesday. At least since they started airing live on Versus.

I really hope Yahya vs Maeda is shown. It is going to be great.
I tend to like the BJJ side of MMA more, but Nov 5 I will be hoping Sonnen puts a beatdown on Filho.
i cant wait for this its just an hour away. im pumped to see this shit live!!!!!

this is a great card. I totally forgot about it after it was postponed.
Faber is gonna pound Brown, and Castillo will run all over “9mm”. UF/ Team Alpha Male Rocks!!!!! Sactown!!!!
PLEASE… WEC show:
“135 lbs.: Rani Yahya (12-4) vs. Yoshiro Maeda (23-5-2)”
for real, id take that fight over rosholts any day, this ones gonna be nuts!
Agree. What style of fighter is Osterneck? I know Rosholt is basically an evolving wrestler, so this has the potential to be boring. Then, WEC has never aired a bad fight.
OSTERNECK…NOT BORING…EXPLOSIVE…..Check out his website…..
http://www.nisstenosterneck.com
this will be a great fight, the fight of the night if you ask me…other than Uriah.
That’s my opion…have at it!
Jake Rosholt is a must for the main card. He has more potential to fight in the UFC than anyone in WEC, even Filho. Although, I agree that Maeda/Roni is the #1 undercard bout.
i got
Faber.
Sonnen- he can do it, hope he does.
Pulver, but ill never count out Leonard “Tabasco sauce” Garcia.
Rosholt.
Cowboy without a doubt, if he cant win on the feet, he can easily take it on the ground.
Aldo.
Schoenauer.
Ratcliff, i havent seen anything out of castillo that could give 9mm real problems.
Maeda- this ones gonna be sick! quite possibly fight of the night.
Simpson, but id be lying if i said that was an educated guess.
this card is friggin awesome, i love the WEC! seems to me these fighters are usually more hungry and fight harder.. even then the ufc fighters… less to lose, more to win = badass fights. PLUS its all free. if you like mma and dont watch the WEC i dont know WTF is wrong with you!

That guy was hilarious!
i wonder why there are two light heavyweight fights. i thought they were already “folded” into the UFC and supposed to be done?
