sorry to say, but i think that maybe at max 5% of the mma fans look at mma websites and see wut is going on in the behind the scenes stuff. Elite XC, controversy or not they put on a exciting show. Way more exciting then quite a few UFC PPV’s, the fans want to see good fights, granted i dont think you could call the kimbo slice a good fight since it lasted 14 secs, but all the other fights were fun as hell to watch. Dana White is seeing that elite XC is putting on more exciting shows and now he has to run his mouth about how “Disgusting” this company is. UFC is my favorite organization to watch, but Dana White should shut his mouth about other organizations, how is he helping the situation at all? He is just making it more public about the flaws in MMA,.

Average people make no distinction between UFC and the Elite garbage, so when Scumbag and Scumbag Jr. do crap like that it reflects badly on the UFC to most people.

more exciting shows?? i think you are way off base there. Production value is part of the excitement and nobody does that better than Dana White. Perhaps ppl on this site hold the UFC to a higher standard. Especially when it comes to PPV’s. Granted a free show on CBS or if u have Showtime is gonna in some way have some serious value considering you’re not shelling out 45 bucks for it but i would much rather watch better fighters any day. The WEC consistently puts on the best fights in the sport but I still get more jacked up for a UFC card. Dropping money on a card, watching months of hype and then getting a clinch fest is gonna disappoint you. that’s the nature of the sport. I think ppl gotta let it go on the occasion the card didn’t live up to their expectations. Ultimately it’s up to the fighters to go out there and get after it not dana white. Part of what’s so disturbing here is that it appears other companies are paying fighters to sacrifice their strengths and game plans for the purpose of puttting on a good show.

i think that you misread my statement. I didnt mean that Elite XC is putting on more exciting shows then the UFC granted they have put on a few shows that were more exciting, but elite xc is putting on more exciting shows then their previous ones.

They operated at a loss while getting TV coverage, sanctioning in virtually every state, mainstream media coverage and building and promoting the best fighters in the world. Now these little fly-by-night promotions are trying to stick their fingers into the UFC pie, and Dana is protecting his product. Very well, I might add.

theres a reason for competition… economics 101: competition drives prices down and makes a better product, end of story… now maybe the UFC will become the only organization but that is definitely not a good thing for fans… higher prices and lower quality product… mark my words, this has been proven time and time again in worldwide economics, mixed martial arts is a product just as gasoline is… so when all you UFC n*thuggers get what u want and UFC is the only organization and youre paying 80$ a PPV to watch karo parisyan dry hump tyson griffin against the fence for 25 minutes and sit through endless advertisements between bouts dont come crying because this is what you all wanted

Thats pretty funny ,I wasn’t complaining about the cards when it was basically just UFC and PRIDE,all of these other organization are watering down the sport,and making it where ,we as the fans can not get the matches we want to see .Oh yeah ,we are not talking about cheeseburger,this is a sport,who does the NFL compete with,they put out a good product every year,as long as there is people training their ass off,UFC will not be watered down.If people love to fight,and they are in for the sport,than they want to go where the best is at.Dana White knows that these organizations,are eventually going to ruin people perspective of the sport,and he does not want to see everything he has busted his ass for ruined by these organizations that really do not care about staying true to the sport,

takin it too personally brendan. i have no problem with competition. you are right about economics but this is sports and it is different. look at all the major sports leagues. you have the majors and the minors. you only have to look at boxing to see where having fighters spread across many promotions and all types of sanctioning bodies and multiple belts for every weight class can be problems. I think it is possible for one “Major” promotion to exist in the USA, one in Japan, one in Europe, etc… the rest should be feeder leagues. then you have the opportunity for cross promotion here and there. i wish that economics/”competition brings out the best” argument would really come to an end. there is not that much validity there. If all of you got what u want then belts would be meaningless, fighters would be spread out through many organizations and we wouldn’t see the fights we want to. these other companies are gonna start to see the danger in cross promotion. Dana doesn’t do it for a reason. I really don’t care which company comes out on top but there can only be one. I just take issue with ppl like the shaws coming in and undoing what others have tried to build.

If the UFC was the only promotion, how would we ever see the fights we want to see? theyd have to have a card every weekend in order to get all the good fighters in action, and thats not gonna happen. With these other promotions competing we get to see MMA every week about, so i ask the same question… would we get that with just the UFC? probably not. also, i ask you what would happen to fighters salaries if the UFC was the only promotion in MMA? they would be a fraction of what they are now and the contracts would be ultra restrictive, because no one could leave and go to another organization if their contract was unfair. if you dont like your UFC contract youre straight fu**ed and have to find another way to make a living

if the UFC becomes the only promotion we will never get to see Fedor fight again, because theyll never pay him the $ he wants and hed go back to russia forever and probably wouldnt look back

the ufc offered fedor the highest amount of money, of any fighter they had ever had, before he even fought 1 time for them. at the time the ufc offered him this contract they still had randy,a.a.,sylvia,nog,herring,gonzaga,cro-cop, and kongo under contract. they had every major hw (except barnett) and offered him millions, and he still turned them down. i dont see how you think the ufc is cheap when concerning fedor.

Besides the fighters that you named you forgot a few others like BJ penn who left while he was the ww champ, Jens pulver who also left while he was the lw champ. Randy also had problems years ago with dana, this wasnt the first time. I agree that dana has done a great job with the ufc and elite xc is shady, but dont act like dana is all high and mighty and cares about the sport. The difference is that dana cares about the ufc, not mma, there is a difference. He trashes guys like Fedor simply b/c he wont fight for him, and you know that’s true bro. He brings viewers, look at elite’s first and third show. BJ Penn is the current LW champ so your argument there isn’t valid. Jens Pulver got knocked out by Joe Lauzon, so his marketability took a dive from there, plus the fact that he was an aging vet, so again, he wasn’t much value to them. Yes, that’s harsh, but that’s the business they’re in. Matt Hughes is in the same boat right now and he and Dana know it. Matt just happens to be friends with Dana, other than that, it’s a business. That’s the way shit rolls.

As far as Fedor goes, if the UFC has 99.99% of the world’s best MMA fighters, you can see why Dana may talk shit about him. Fedor may be viewed as one of the best fighters in the world in some fan’s eyes, but until he signs with the UFC, many including Dana, will knock him because he isn’t consistently fighting the top talent in the world every 3 months.

The fact is, the best thing Fedor could do is sign with the UFC (probably won’t happen). That way he can prove to Dana and the world that he is the best, but until then, he’ll always be viewed as the best/unknown fighter

Kimbo may have been a draw for two cards, but that’s only because people were curious and wanted to see him get his ass beat – Which he did by a nobody no less. He’s a novelty act. A flash in the pan. Lesnar is someone who has the skills, size, strength and speed to stay in the game for a while and that’s why Dana signed him.
