MMAmania.com has received the fighter payouts from Elite XC: “Heat” from the Florida State Boxing Commission for the CBS event held on October 4 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Main event loser and hometown favorite Kimbo Slice pocketed half a million dollars for his 14 second loss to “The Ultimate Fighter 2″ alum Seth Petruzelli. Slice missed out on a $100,000 win bonus as well.

Petruzelli reported on a radio program earlier today that he made six figures for the win … he was half right, according to the commission, anyway. He took home $50,000 for stepping up at the last minute and shocking the world.

The Affliction/Elite XC co-promoted heavyweight bout participants were paid out by the tee shirt company turned MMA organization. The former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski earned $500,000 for his second round technical knockout win. Roy Nelson walked away with $80,000.

Elite XC’s other top two earners were Welterweight Champion Jake Shields ($50,000) in his first title defense and Murilo “Ninja” Rua ($35,000) in a loss.

Here are the entire payouts and bonuses for Elite XC: “Heat”:

Seth Petruzelli — $50,000 ($35,000 to show, $15,000 to win)
Kimbo Slice — $500,000
Petruzelli defeated Slice via technical knockout (strikes) in round one

Jake Shields — $50,000 ($40,000 to show, $10,000 to win)
Paul Daley — $12,000
Shields defeated Daley via submission (armbar) in round two

Andrei Arlovski — $500,000
Roy Nelson — $80,000
Arlovski defeated Nelson via technical knockout (strikes) in round two

Gina Carano — $25,000 ($15,000 to show, $10,000 to win)
Kelly Kobald — $6,000
Carano defeated Kobald via unanimous decision

Benji Radach — $30,000 ($15,000 to show, $15,000 to win)
Murilo Rua — $35,000
Radach defeated Rua via knockout (strikes) in round two

Cyborg Santos — $8,000 ($4,000 to show, $4,000 to win)
Yoko Takahashi — $2,000
Cyborg defeated Takahashi via unanimous decision

Conor Heun — $5,000 ($2,500 to show, $2,500 to win)
James Edson Berto — $6,000
Heun defeated Berto via technical knockout (strikes) in round two

Mikey Gomez — $4,000 ($2,000 to show, $2,000 to win)
Lorenzo Borgomeo — $1,500
Gomez defeated Borgomeo via submission (armbar) in round two

Bryan Hamade — $1,000 ($500 to show, $500 to win)
David Gomez — $1,000
Hamade defeated Gomez via submission (guillotine) in round one

Nicolae Curry — $1,500 ($750 to show, $750 to win)
Jorge Boechat — $1,000
Curry defeated Boechat via submission (strikes) in round one

Keep in mind the salaries listed above do not include fight bonuses, sponsorships, percentages and other unofficial payments. It also does not include deductions for expenses such as insurance, taxes, etc.

The total base fighter payroll for the CBS event was $1,319,000. Affliction MMA payed $580,000 of that total for the heavyweight bout between Andrei Arlovski and Roy Nelson.

It’s disgusting isn’t it. I’d definitely get KO’ed numerous times for that amount of money per fight.

Might have to submit a few staged “street fighting videos” to youtube or Elite XC lol. Hopefully the brutal KO’s don’t look like fresh airs.

dana white always talks about how he treats fighters fair. what’s with Nog making 100k per fight an brock getting 250k per fight. Nog’s the 2nd best HW in the world and he’s went up against top competition for about 8 years running, where’s his respect??!! it’s an HONOR for dana and the ufc to have a man of that caliber ’skill wise and personal wise’ fighting for their organization, not the other way around

This is way Elite isn’t going to fold. If i was in the UFC i would get out as fast as possible. Go to another organization that pays better. Trump invested in Affliction, he isn’t a billionaire by accident. Pay the money and the fighters will come. Short term losses means nothing. Look at a 5 year plan. I see UFC falling from the top.

Sorry Kid but Elite is 58 million in the read and the gate was only a little over $800,000 dollars. Can we say negative revenue. Moreover the CBS deal is more of a pay to play deal with the only up side going to CBS. In addition their socalled “star fighter” got exposed as a novice at best and their chief (Shaw Jr) decompensated himself to the level of a professional wrestling script writers. This is no future my friend, again u can hate on the UFC for the BS it pulls but still have the testicular fortitude to call a spade a spade and a duck a duck.

A bum off the street … he’ll have to actually fight real fighters soon … at which point continue to lose and then fade away …. ahhhh that will be nice.

Subtract the gate and the net is $90,433 or so. I’m sure Tito is going to be signing that contract any day now. Just his purse alone would be more than the gate. You think he’s gonna want to take less than Kimbo? Shit like this among other things is why is often refer to these roundmouths as un-Elite XC.

Seth said he was getting paid 6 figures but only 75k was reported so there is 100k or so that was left out. So they are in the red before you even factor in all other costs.

me: “Alvarez/Diaz yes. I could care less about Lawler/Villasenor.”

brendan:”dont care about your fellow mexican?”

me: “Yeah, thats how I normally decide weather or not I want to watch someone fight, is if they are mexican or not. You’re the man.”

Far from a rip. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. And wasn’t this yesterday? Quit being so sensitive.

based on how good he really is, jake shields should be getting paid way more. he should move to ufc where he can get paid double his salary for a win bonus plus ko of the night, submission of the night, fight of the night bonuses. plus going up the against the top contenders, possibly the champ, and getting himself more exposure.

gina carano should also be making more cuz i think she brings in alot of american gladiator fans.

Comment by jay
2008-10-06 21:27:38

jack don’t know jack. How is Jake Shields ever going to get KO of the night? He has zero stand up. His take downs were shit. He would never fight for a title because he would be demolished by GSP. He is the most one-dimensional fighter ever mentioned in the top five of any weight class. The only exposure he would receive for going to the UFC is being exposed as a non contender. And even if Gina Carano brings in all 50 of the American Gladiator fans she wouldn’t be worth any more money to EXC or any other fight organization. She is getting paid peanuts compared to Kimbo which is unfair but women’s MMA isn’t what pays the bills for EXC.

that’s retarded, no wonder elite xc is losing money right left and center. kimbo makes 500k, and roy nelson makin 80k? wtf. then again i also can’t believe how many fighters they paid $2,000 or less (3 with 1,000 and 2 that needed wins to earn $1,500, and people bitch about ufc paydays), brutal! by the way, Liddell makes 500k no matter win or lose plus bonuses and ppv revenues, but he also brings in a lot bigger crowds, and oh ya, he can also fight (not sure about it anymore but i’m routin’ for him to get back in the game, don’t think he’ll ever hold another title tho, still he used to be very good and great to watch)

one more thing, Jake Shields is good but he wouldn’t be at the top of the food chain in the ufc welterweight division. i thought it was funny when he called out GSP in his last show, GSP would murder this guy. shield has a lot of potential but right now he wouldn’t be about to even handle kos, sanchez, fitch, or alves. i was not impressed with him on saturday although he did win it was not against the top of the division and he still struggled. a few more years and we’ll see what happens

Shields is decent, but no where near the top 5 or so at his weight in the UFC. That armbar was slow and way too obvious for the top tier guys to be submitted with (ask Hazlett how it is done).

$500,000.00 for the Sliceman. Think how many competent HW fighters EXC could have put on that card for 500K combined. They wasted that money on a relatively untrained street brawler who sucks in every range. Amazing.

This is why all the excessive babbling about fighters being underpaid can backfire on everyone. Promotions go too far in the other direction trying to make sure they pay their fighters well, and you end up with a novice like Kimbo getting overpaid by several orders of magnitude. It’s ridiculous.

These payouts make me sick. Undercard fighters bringing home less than 2 grand with a win while the company is throwing 6 figures at dudes like kimbo!? That is an absolute crime. Not to mention gina carano is their biggest marketing tool next to kimbo and she’s only getting 15,000 to show? Terrible, just terrible.

2008-10-06 23:07:00

$500k for Kimbo?? No wonder he was ok with loosing!? Who wouldn’t be ok with getting knocked out by a jab and make $500k?

I think it is interesting to see that Affliction payed for the AA fight. Pretty smart of them if you think about it. They got to air their commercials, Affliction advertising in the cage and people got to see one of their fighters. I know they paid extra for the advertising but I think it helps them build their brand in the MMA world as they got to put their product on a major network.

I am sure Tito will get around $1m per fight plus incentives if he signs with Elite. He has at least twice the marketing power that of Kimbo and he is a better fighter with some history in the industry. He does deserve some credit whether you are a fan or not.
