The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 castoff Jesse Taylor (6-3) — who was cut from the UFC for the second time in July following a loss to fellow housemate CB Dolloway as well as some questionable comments about the Rampage Jackson situation — didn’t have much trouble finding work outside the Octagon.

“Cocoa the Monkey” will compete in the main event at Total Combat 32: “Notorious” at the Sycuan Casino & Resort, which is just outside of San Diego, Calif., on October 2. The former middleweight will make the move down to 170 pounds to face Drew “The Master” Fickett (35-6).

Fickett is a huge step up in competition for Taylor. In fact, he hasn’t faced anybody with even half the experience of “The Master.” To make matters worse, the experience isn’t even the only thing that makes this match up look one-sided.

All three of Taylor’s career losses have been by submissions, which is Fickett’s strongest attribute as a fighter. In fact, he’s won by way of tapout 24 times in his career. Therfore, if Taylor had trouble with Dolloway’s submissions then one can imagine what kind of problems a technician the caliber of Fickett poses for him.

Regardless, Taylor is going to be a beast at welterweight. And it’ll be interesting to see just how much of a strength advantage he’ll have at 170 pounds. He was known for his wrestling and control while on the show and he’ll need to be at the top of his game in those areas to have any chance at all against “The Master.”

Kim Couture — wife of UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture — will also be in action at Total Combat 32 “Notorious,” facing Team Quest product Megan Gangitano.

Total Combat also just announced a partnership with MTV 3, which will be the new home for the mixed martial arts organization.

how bout relevant news???

2008-09-22 12:24:11

wow, i knew ufc was going global, but how bout bj/gomi 2?? here’s a snip from gomi’s blog:

Gomi:
I don’t like to have a long break between fights, for it takes longer to condition physically and mentally if I don’t fight constantly. Since SENGOKU finally made a TV deal, I want to fight soon and show my performance to my fans. It’s ideal if I can fight every 3 months. I want to participate in SENGOKU.6. in Nov, which has semi-final fights of the lightweight tournament so that our fans can compare my ability with others. Finalists are all grappler; therefore, I want to fight someone grappler next. It’s too bad for a winner of the tournament, because he has to fight me next. I bet a winner would have hard time conditioning mentally. (There is a rumor that the UFC may have an event in Japan next year and Dana White wants Gomi fight) SENGOKU allows all fighters fight in other events. I wouldn’t mind fighting in the UFC. I think fans are excited to see a fight of champions, Gomi vs B.J.Penn.

Josh Barnett has stated that he too will fight in wvr’s nov. event as well. no opponent has been named. as far as gomi fighting i the ufc, it would be great, but we both know he would have to sign exclusively to the ufc, not a 1 fight deal. penn has already dominated gomi and has improved since, while gomi has not. if gomi were to sign with the ufc, i would rather see him fight a few top 10 ufc fighters before penn.

I read another article months ago saying Gomi’s people are tough (like fedor’s) to deal with. you never know, 1 fight in Japan isn’t out of the question!

just for the hell of it (im bored) i looked up a ranking on the worlds best econmies and the u.s. was #3. the u.k was #6, ireland #7 and canada #8. it was based on about 10 different factors and was on a website called Doing Business.org. so were not so bad after all, but we could definetly do better.

Haha, I guess that didn’t work. It would be funnier if we could hotlink pics. Even small ones.

You can never go wrong with talk of Gina’s chest. Someone wake that senile fossil Hugh Hefner up and tell him to put Gina in the next issue of Playboy, or even online. Whatever it takes!

Does anyone here have a good friend who has a little brother that was always trying to copy and impress his older brother and brothers’ friends but always ended up looking like a complete retard in doing so? That kid reminds me of Jesse Taylor. I wish he’d relax and not try so hard. That hair and sunglasses makes him look like a clown.
