While most fans in around the world will have to check out the Sherdog.com live video stream to get a glimpse of “Strikeforce at the Mansion II” next Saturday, our friendly neighbors to the north in Canada will be able to watch the event their television sets thanks to a deal struck between the San Jose-based organization and The Score Network.
The Score Network is a Canadian-based television network primarily based around sports news, highlights and live event sports coverage. It provides all the WWE coverage in Canada, as well has NBA, NFL and NCAA sports action.
The deal calls for the network to begin its Strikeforce event coverage on September 20 with “Strikeforce at the Mansion II” beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET. There is also a program that debuted last Saturday (September 6) in the mold of the successful late night program in the U.S. titled, “Strikeforce on NBC,” which the network will continue to feature going forward.
Here’s a snip from John Levy, Chairman and CEO of Score Media Inc on the deal:
“The Score looks forward to bringing an awesome line up of Strikeforce MMA programming to viewers across the country and as we go from live broadcasting of our studio launch party on September 20th to ‘Strikeforce At The Mansion II,’ we know we’ll be giving our fans a broadcast line-up they can’t resist.”
Strikeforce has really been making a push to get to that next level as a mixed martial arts promotion. It’s a shame a once solid fight card for its second trip to the Playboy Mansion has been bombarded with injuries.
The good news is that the promotion almost always delivers solid events. And this one should be no different — even with the watered down match ups. The main event of the night will be the Strikeforce debut of Japanese stand out Kazuo Misaki. He’ll face former UFC top contender Joe “Diesel” Riggs.
Lightweight Champion Josh “The Punk” Thomson will also be in action, as well as another top lightweight fighter Mitsuhiro “Endless Fighter” Ishida.
Strikeforce still feels like this event will be an exciting one for their new Canadian television viewers.
Here’s a snip from Strikeforce founder and CEO Scott Coker:
“We are excited about the opportunity to bring the Strikeforce MMA product to fans in Canada. The Score has a reputation for being an exceptional sports television platform and we are proud to join their family of programming.”

Nice….not like its the best organization in the world but they have a few guys i’d enjoy seeing fight.
I like them as well. Wish they did more shows. I still get confused as to exactly which fighters are strikeforce and which are elitexC but I enjoy a lot of their fights. however, They are still a long ways away from being able to successfully hold ppv’s
JOHN. me too! until a month ago or so, i actually thought they (strikeforce) were co-owned by elite xc. kinda like the ufc and the wec. even us longtime fans are still learning.
u mean they are not owned by Proelite? I thought they were? They confuse me!
Good, and it looked like TSN was going to broadcast the WEC show before it got canceled
TSN has been so spotty with their MMA coverage. I hadn’t heard that they were looking to air the now canceled WEC show. That is definitely good news (not the cancellation but the fact that… anyway, you know what I meant). Let’s hope that this Strikeforce deal is a winner for the Score, so that TSN or Sportsnet feel the pressure to pick up their MMA coverage.
it’s so funny how Strikeforce is virtually the only org making profit and they do not even have huge ambitions like ELiteXC.
they are one fight organization that GETS it.
Great News…Watched Against Me last night…Just had to throw that in there..
Good News. Now, perhaps the UFC can answer why WEC is only being broadcast in the U.S., while EliteXC and BoDog continue to be carried by CBS and The Fight Network in Canada.
TSN in canada usually shows wec.
