paulo filho

“… everybody was really sorry about it, we were training hard and it happened. It’s sad for some, and good for others, Good for Sonnen … we were stronger and ready to get his left arm again. He has now more one month to get ready.”

– The trainer for WERC Middleweight Champion tells Tatame.com that the postponed WEC 36 event will benefit Chael Sonnen because it will give him another month to prepare. Hurricane Ike threatened to hit South Florida last week, forcing the Zuffa-owned promotion to move the show at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to November 5. The first match between Filho and Sonnen ended with a second round Filho armbar after Sonnen dominated the Brazilian in round one. It was somewhat of a controversial finish and the war of words has been on ever since. Let’s hope it all comes to a head on the new fight night — enough delays.

I for one am not sold on Sonnen, like many of you guys seem to be. Everytime he has faced a UFC type competitor he has lost. on the other hand Filho is UFC ready right nOW.

Im with Kama Kaze on this one, Chael is getting his arm ripped off.

I can let Filho’s lackluster WEC debut go. Even Rampage had jitters his first time in the Octagon. He has not impressed me at all so far. Sonnen won’t make the mistake of leaving his arm in a second time, even if he didn’t actually submit the first time.

Filho was out of it that first fight. Probably going through withdrawls from the drugs because his post fight sample was clean. Then shortly after, he is in rehab. How do you piss clean with a drug problem? And wasn’t he battling depression? If he has this behind him and is in the right frame of mind, then Chael has no chance of winning this fight

Sonnen is a bit arrogant for me, he thinks he is better than he realy is. I hope Paulo catches him in a nasty arm triangle and puts him to sleep. Good night!

Actually he really is better than he appears…hes got great potential but he seems to fall apart when it really matter…to be honest im liking Filho and his team less and less…he is running his mouth way too much about Sonnen i Hope sonned GNP this fool till he relapses back to depression. The people who ran their mouth about Filho were Fans like Kahaluu who wish pain and injury to be bestowed on another fighter. as you can see me saying those thign about Filho just reflect ignorance more than intelligence and any real knowledge of MMA…take note Caz!!!!!

An intelligent poster understands that Filho “running his mouth” is a form of fight hype; a marketing technique used by promoters and fighters to draw interest to the mma bout to simulate an everyday physical altercation that often result from an argument or dispute. The excitement level is elevated because it is easier for fans to relate and grow an emotional attatchment to personal rivalries, fabricated or not, as opposed to a professional contest in which no grudge is involved. An elevated interest usually equates to more PPV buys. I believe this is why MMA has been much more successful in America than in Japan. In summary, gaining knowledge and intelligence is what schools are for. MMA is a form of entertainment, not necessarily education. Fights that draw excitement, and even negative criticism, is beneficial for the dealer and the customer.

Man, after the way Sonnen whined and complained about that stoppage I want nothing more than to see Filho do it again twice as bad. I mean, he looked like he was in excruciating pain the moment the fight was stopped, did he want his arm broken?

yeah its really silly when fighters act like that. I dont look at him as a tougher man because he wouldnt tap, I ook at him as an idiot! Whats the point in getting your arm snapped? You still loose the fight once it gets broken, you dont get any extra opints for not tapping. All it means is that you wil probably have surgery, rehab and be on the shelf for a long period of time. What a dipsh*t! He should thank the ref that he ended that fight and saved his arm from being taken back to brazil as a trophy. Not to mention it was just an ordinary armbar. It was an armbar being executed by one of the best Jits mma fighters on earth who has finished a bunch of tough fighters with the same move. If they all tapped, what makes Sonnen think that he is getting out of it? Then he had the audacity to complain about it. F that dude.

this fight is ending the same way only this time I hope Filho just snaps it right away to leave NO DOUBTS. Dont even give him the chance to tap, JUST SNAP IT!

I look to this fight as the fight Filho shows all the American fans why he is so highly touted!
