Evans, on the other hand, didn’t do too bad either, hauling in a nice $120,000 payday.

Former Pride FC middleweight and welterweight champion picked up a cool $250,000 for his first win inside the Octagon since 1998. And former 185-pound champion Rich Franklin wa rewarded with $100,000 for his move back up to the light heavyweight division.

For example, the UFC often hands out extra cash for “Fight of the Night,” “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night.” To check out these figures for UFC 88 go here.

The total base fighter payroll for UFC 88 was $1.27 million.

i hope matt brown got alittle under the table, performance bonus money. his fight with the donger was close, but i thought brown won, therefore not getting a win bonus.

THORAZINE Stop it. This is not the worst decision. This is actually the correct decision. I was worried Stun Gun would lose because of favortism but for once the judges got it right. He had Brown in all kinds of danger that first round that I don’t see how anyone could score it in Brown’s favor. The second round Brown definately won but still not a 10 8 round. The third round was closer but Stun Gun got the take down and GNP till the bell. Granted he wasn’t smashing him, but he was still winning the round. 2 rounds to 1 no matter how many times you replay it.

Still, how is rashad getting paid more to show than Rich Franklin? I’d have to say even with the losses to Silva, Franklin is still a more popular fighter…

yes, but Franklin is still a better and more popular fighter than Rashad…..did you notice Forrest’s salary for defeating Rampage? think it was like #350,000….150 to show 150 to win…thats a better contract than Hendo….

Franklin has never been paid that much… I’ve always felt he was due for a big payday… I’m pretty sure White gives Franklin big bonuses on the side… He’s got to make close to what Hendo makes. Right?

Comment by chefdaddy

Yeah, I’m sure he gets the bonuses. Last year, he pulled in over a million in sponsorships and appearance fees according to CNBC, so he’s not hurting.

Chuck must still be riding on his “rockstar” status in the minds of the UFC to get paid that much. That should have ended after he lost to Rampage, and especially after Jardine. They are so out of touch. Chuck should take that money and buy some more shit and feed that huge belly of his some more. Out with the old, in with the new!
And who has Matt Brown blown over at the UFC to be treated like a spoiled prince? He got all the hype on TUF then got his ass kicked, and still got fight coverage after he dropped down the ranks, and now he gets a post fight interview with Rogan as an under undercard? Seriously, he must be somebody’s relative.

Comment by sawyer

Keep in mind that when fighters sign contracts, they are usually multiple fight deals. Chuck lost 3 of the last 4. I could research it and see when he signed his last deal, but I’m betting it was a 5-6 fight deal back when he was still on top. Given the current chain of events, Chuck won’t be getting $500k per fight once the current contract is up. Also keep in mind, that the popular guys get a piece of the backend on the PPV buys. Chuck and Franklin more than likely will get additional money for that, where as Rashad and Hendo won’t.

Also, I can’t believe Hamill only made $10k. I know he is still in his TUF contract, but that isn’t much for a co-main event bout.

I’m hoping Dana will be taking care of the guys behind the scenes so some of this fighters get the money the really deserve, and not the money they signed just to get contracts in the UFC.

stinks for the guys who actually had to fight to become popular like Franklin and not just win a relity show contest…sometimes I think the payouts for the fighters are so jacked up, but this is a contract business and thats rthe key word…”contract”

It will be very interesting to see what Randy’s new contract is…we already know for a fact that he gets a % of the PPV buys like Chuck and some of the other popular fighters…think about it %1 of 1 million PPV buys chuck got for UFC 66 whats that like an extra $400,000?

Comment by Chase
2008-09-08 23:57:45

Well Rashad had to fight also, just on the show. but yeah, some payouts are just so low, like 7k, but they agreed to it, so thats what they make.

just gotta say that this pay per view was sick. it was my first live ufc event that I have attended, and I am not pretending to be an expert…but it is so much louder in the areana than it sounds on tv…they must muffle the sound…anyone else that can attest to that? sick night of fights nonetheless…

No wonder Jason MacDonald wanted to fight again within a month of his last fight, although 44 grand (plus his 60 grand submission bonus) is quite a bit better than that sorry payday of 7000 for that one dude. That doesn’t even cover the cost of his corner man emptying his spit bucket!

They should have taken about 300k from chucks salary and divided it up between the lower tiered guys. Chucks so over rated all his big wins are against wrestlers tito, randy, babal. You put him against a decent striker and he gets beat down. 500k b.s

these are supposed to be THE BEST FIGHTERS IN THE WORLD and they are getting paid like they are pions. Mike Patt only 5G’s to fight in the UFC? man i could get some dope dealers to put up money to make like Kimbo was doing…i feel like the UFC is going to crumble from within soon if this doesn’t stop. we need a ‘Gene Upshaw’ [RIP] type of guy for the UFC cuz this is beyond ridiculous.

let’s do the math:

ufc 88; $2,200,000 gate [admission prices]

let’s just say only 1 million people ordered the pay per view…that’s still $40,000,000 (that’s just bare minimum…we all know how many more fans watch pay per view)

so that’s $42.2 million in gross earnings…

the UFC only gave out $1.27 million TOTAL for the fighters!!! that’s sad

I’m sure Tyson, Holyfield, Foreman, Mayweather, and even Butterbean would laugh their ass off if they got offered $7,000 to show up and $7,000 if they win, even before they were the main events!

Rousimar Palhares only got $7,000 from doing what many think was a co-co-main event [even though it was a relatively boring match, Palhares is one of the best in the world, and so is Henderson]…and Henderson gets a quarer-mil for his share??? something’s definitely unfair about that. It’s sickening in my eyes; these guys work wayyyyyyyyy to hard and put wayyyyyyyyy to much time, hurt, agony, pain, blood, sweat, and tears to get paid a measly $7,000 for fighting one of the toughest guys on the planet!!! FANS WE NEED TO TAKE A STAND!

Any ideas on what we can do [build a website, start a petition, things of that nature] send to pducemc@yahoo.com

I’m serious, it’s sad that these fighters have to take this. It’s basically like spitting in their faces while Dana White is laughing all the way to the bank!
