UFC 88: “Breakthrough” from the Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on September 6 has come to a close. The main event of the evening had perhaps the most shocking upset of the year and will definitely be talked about ad nauseam through the next event and beyond.

Despite a couple of other one-sided contests, the promotion rewarded Kurt Pellegrino & Thiago Tavares, as well as others, for their outstanding performances with cold hard cash.

Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 88:

Knockout of the Night - Rashad Evans

Submission of the Night - Jason MacDonald

Fight of the Night - Kurt Pellegrino & Thiago Tavares

Each fighter received $60,000 for their efforts in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as humanly possible.

Congratulations goes out once again to Rashad Evans for doing what no one else expected him to by knocking out Chuck Liddell. “The Iceman” is definitely going to feel that one in the morning.

Good Job For Rashad, I was to see Lyoto VS. Rashad Next for the LHW Crown.

Then who will Forrest fight in the meantime?

Rashad should receive double or triple that :) Highlight reel knockout for sure.

Rashad .vs. Forrest would be an awesome fight. Especially since they’re both TUF alumni. Could be good marketing for one of the upcoming seasons of TUF

Thiago - he’s the lightweight vitor, and i’ll keep saying that he will be the old thiago for his next fight. Keep collecting those checks though i think that’s 3 Fights of the night + 1 sub of the night. Not bad for a 22 yr old

People at the restaurant that I was in were asking if Chucks neck was broken when he had gotten knocked out. Then they thought that his jaw might be broken.. All of the talk got me a little worried. That was a brutal punch.

I knew Rashad was able to KO Chuck, he just needed that confidence. Tito Ortiz was lucky that Rashad wasn’t confident at that fight because he could have KO him too.

The LHW division is so stacked and cluttered right now, its crazy. Just about everyone you name in that division is capable of fighting for a title.

Wanderlei
Rampage
Vera
Evans
Liddell
Franklin
Hendo
Griffin
Franklin
Machida
T. Silva
Jardine
Rua

I’m sure Ive left out a few but there’s just so many combinations and match ups I would still like to see. Even some of th other guys that arent at top level competition are still fun to watch at 205.

Frank Mir was the heavy weight champ before 90% of the fans jumped on board. He was in a motor cycle acciedent and broke is leg. That is how he lost the title. Unlike Randy, Mir did not get a shot at HIS title immediately upon returning. He did beat the vanilla gorilla in less than 2 minutes and broke Tim Sylvia’s arm, submitted a young Tank Abbot and deserves a title shot a hell of a lot more than Brock who he beat.
