matt brownThe welterweight bout between former The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 contestant, Matt Brown (7-6), and undefeated Korean import, Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim (10-0-1), has been promoted to the televised portion of the UFC 88: “Breakthrough” pay-per-view (PPV) main card thanks to Karo Parisyan pulling up lame at the eleventh hour and bowing out of his fight with Yoshiyuki Yoshida.

Brown — who was eliminated from the show by eventual tournament winner Amir Sadollah via triangle choke in the semifinals — bounced back to defeat Matt Arroyo via technical knockout at the TUF 7 Finale last month. It was just his second win in his last five fights and the first inside the Octagon.

That makes him essentially perfect within the eight-sided cage (1-0) just like his opponent when it comes time to throw down in the “Peach State.”

Kim stopped Jason Tan in his inaugural Octagon appearance at UFC 84: “Ill Will” back in May, pounding out his opponent with elbows in the final frame. The promising DEEP veteran will look to keep his perfect record intact and climb the welterweight ladder one rung at a time.

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide complete LIVE coverage and deliver up-to-the-minute UFC 88 results later this evening. In the meantime, to check out the latest UFC 88 card and fight rumors click here.

Yeh Kim is a HEAVY fav with everyone, although a small bet on Brown with those odds might be warranted, just incase of a lucky punch, injury or freak incident.

Agreed, all i forsee is kim takedowns/elbows. Also if you think the lines are ridiculous for this check them out for Silva-Cote: -1150/+650. I couldn’t stop laughing coz i keep picturing cote “pressing the action”!

Stun Gun is already better than:
Swick
David
Burkman
Rumble

He may even be able to beat koschek already….but in about a year or a year and a half, he will make for a great challenge for GSP!

jeez 900 to win 200, thats not a very smart bet… i guess you are pretty sure about your boy kim there… i hate betting favorites

Brendan: A smart bet has nothing to do with how much your likely to win and everything to do with how sure you are that it will win.

I played alot of poker for years and one of the golden rules was to never overbet the pot… example: pot is 100$ and you lay a 300$ bet down, well essentially youre risking 300$ to only win 100$ one of the worst mistakes in poker… but i guess sports betting and poker are two different animals and i guess i have alot to learn about sports betting

yea I agree brown’s only chance is to be unpredictable and try and do something off the wall that no one would ever think of.

I don’t remember Stun Gun beating Terry Etim. That must be Jason Tan you’re talking about because all the other guys Stun Gun has beaten were either Korean or Japanese, not English.

they should have moved up the pellegrino/tavares fight or the macdonald/lambert fight. would have much rather seen one of these two.

Stun Gun is a striker and Matt is a striker that has never been knockout all his losses are via submission or decision the odds would favor Matt Brown to pull an upset. Like stun gun on this one but would not be surprise if Matt Brown pull an upset .
