“Chuck is probably the most popular fighter in the UFC. I went to see a movie (Pineapple Express) the other day to relax and clear my head for the fight and I see Chuck on the screen. You can’t escape him anywhere. He’s really popular. I’m trying to get away and think about something else, and Chuck’s beating up this black dude. I’m like damn.”
-The Ultimate Fighter 2 champion and undefeated light heavyweight “Sugar” Rashad Evans talks about being consumed with his upcoming fight against Chuck Liddell at UFC 88 on September 6. Thanks to “Mr. Sunshine” Steve Cofield for the quote and also the hilarious headline.

Who is that guy he is punching there? What part of the movie is he in? Chucks looks like he has a major gut in this pic
Chuck is punching Vernon “tiger” White in this photo..
This fight happened before Chuck won the LHW belt..
And Chuck fights Vernon White in “Pineapple Express” – hence the pic
Oh that makes sense. I never saw that movie. I really want to though haha.
Do they just show the fight on a TV screen in the back??
Or is Chuck Liddell actuallly in the movie??..
WAAAAAY off topic…I saw “Redbelt” and “Never Back Down” recently (two MMA movies) and I thought they both sucked. Redbelt seemed more the legitimate film but from the middle to the end of it the whole thing fell apart. Anyone else see either one? I’m curious what fans of mma thought of the movies.
I saw Never Back Down. My girlfriend liked it but she isn’t a really big MMA fan. I was pissed when I watched it. I wasn’t impressed at all. The fight in the parking lot at the end? Stupid.
HAHAHA Dumbest ending ever! I’d rather watch the karate kid 1 or 2!
Reddog, I actually watched both films for the 1st time this week. I thought Never back down was a very cheesy movie that did not do mma justice. I hated it!
However,I was pleasantly surprised with Redbelt. It was much better then I had thought. I just dont like how in the end they say that mma was fixed. But it was much better then I thought it would be.
Sadly, some MMA seems to be fixed. I only hope that it doesn’t get any worse like boxing. Boxing became so corrupt. I hope that the UFC keeps MMA clean. I have even seen some flaws in the UFC. Like with Bisping vs. Hammill. I don’t see that as the UFC’s fault. Just the officiating. There needs to be something done to ensure this doesn’t happen. But needless to say, it is going to happen in sports. With the recent news, you can even see the corruption in the NBA. Luckily MMA is difficult to fix being as we have been able to weed out various cases and to voice our opinions about it.
I saw neither. I knew they would suck. I would watch the first 3 Karate Kid movies all day long before I’d watch “Redbelt” and “Never Back Down.”
redbelt was a great movie but the fixed thing was shitty but i think there point was to show some if it is *cough elite xc cough* but never back down was just a love story that girls could get guys to go see and was insanely stupid redbelt wasn’t terrible its worth a netflix or a download at least
Amir Sadollah said that he expects to fight on the UFC 91 card in Portland and that we will find out his opponent within the next week or 2
anyone see BOBBY Z. it has both chuck and tim sylvia in it. it stars paul walker and laurence fishbourne. i’m only posting this to warn you not to see it. be thankfull if you have’nt. never back down was wretched, kinda like a low budget fast and the furious meets mma. ive heard good things about redbelt and will check it out on dvd.
B.w: Earlier this week I told you that Brock would fight Randy and that Randy was back in Extreme couture training for a fight. NOw Extreme Couture has made arrangements to bring in some really big and Strong Heavyweight training partners for Couture to fight! He is fighting BROCK and I am sure of iT!!!!!
Also, it has been reported that the UFC is event considering to co-produce a show with M-1 global early in 2009 to put on the Randy vs. Fedor fight! If Dana does this, it will show that he is putting his ego in check and doing what needs to be done to further the sport.
I smell a HEAVY Lorenzo Fertita influence on this entire situation! THank you Lorenzo….GET-R-Done!
Yeah john, if this is all true in the end, Lorenzo definately had a big hand in it.
We all blasted Dana when we found out that the “Big Announcement” was just that Lorenzo would be taking over. But if this news turns out to be true then its hard to image it being possible without Lorenzo ego-checking Dana and his grudges to do whats best for the sport and its fans.
This is not intended to bash Dana, instead I am trying to praise Lorenzo
tHiago Silva on Bigfoot testing positive for roids:
“I live with him here all the time, he’s my brother and I never saw him taking anything. He didn’t used anything, he actually does a treatment to reduce his GH from the body, because of his natural problem… He’s the last person in the world that I’d think that could fail the test”, said Thiago. With EliteXC’s support, Bigfoot and his manager, Alex Davis, started his defense at Athletic Commission.
JOHN. i gave you props for that on the lesnar/randy thread, and i will do it again. props for the info. good stuff!
thank you sir
Randy Couture will be driving the pace car at the pepsi 500 nascar tonight per promma.com. who knows, maybee they will ask him a few questions and some new info might come out. i doubt it though.
John your perspective on the White’s and Lorenzo’s relationship is interesting. I would guess the Fertetta’s & Trump have an amicable relationship being they’re in the same business and casino’s are not in competition with eachother.
The only reason Tito got an offer from the UFC is because the Fertetta’s decided so. If Couture is getting a fight with Fedor it’s because the Fertetta’s decided so.
Despite what fans are saying… I believe Couture’s contract has an expiration date that ends in October. The UFC risks losing some of the best fighter’s in the heavyweight division to Afliction. They need more than a TUF boost to keep fans inspired. I wouldn’t be surprised if negotiations fall through with the Fedor & Couture fight, u got a lot of fingers in that pie… everyone would have to be totally reasonable and greed put aside, I don’t know if that’s possible with this crew.
1 thing at a time, 1st the Lesnar fight, then we worry about Fedor. I could care less about the Fedor fight because I do not think that Randy can last 1 round with Fedor, but the Lesnar fight does interest me.
Big Props to the level minded Fertitas, Dana does a great job, but some situations call for finess and thats not Dana’s strong suite!
It’s in the background during a scene in a motel room. Seth Rogan’s girlfriend is on the phone and was apparently watching the UFC?
It’s on the tv screen during a hotel scene. Same fight that was in super bad.
I thought Chuck vs Tito was in superbad at the bar.
You know what, and in “Knocked Up”; there is a big ass poster of Liddell Couture 3 in the back ground. All of these are seth rogen movies
Seth Rogen is an MMA fan. Look at his Pineapple Express movie…Hehe!!
the movie NEXT with Nick Cage and jessica biel (sucked) had forrest vs elvis sinosic on tv in a motel room as well.
Maybe Pineapple Express 2 can show Chuck kicking the shit out of Rashad?
Stagger Lee – The fight is playing on a t.v. in the background of one scene in the movie…Chuck isn’t actually in the movie himself
Wow look at his gut swang!
That is where he gets his knockout power. haha
Beating up this black dude? Does any one else have a problem with this statement? Chuck was in a professional fight with another professional fighter!!!!!!!!!!! How does black and white come into the picture? Still think Rashad is going to win but after that comment I will be cheering for Chuck…MMA is MMA not black vs white. I never look at color when watching fights. BJ and Anderson are two of my favorite fighters, I never stop and say oh they’re black!!!! Any one have any thoughts, about Rashad’s comment?
of course why not bring race into it
sounds like somthin obama would say
lol shut up mitt
Obama is only half black. I hate when people call him a black guy or the possible first black president. He is a mixed guy that could possibly be the first mixed president. But yeah It didn’t really bother me that Rashad said this. It almost sounds like Chuck is in his head.
Obama Calls Himself a black man
Yeah, Obama ain’t even black. He’s more “light Brown” I guess.
oBama…oSama… A coincidence???
oooooohhh
The only difference is the BS…
ha ha wasnt rampage BLACK or has the world gone colour blind. he beat chuck like a BITCH twice
Rampage is BROWN! not BLACK Like the text you are reading!
why start talking about two crap movies? this movie is going to have lots of REAL fighting in it where the hero is called CHUCK (THE ICEMAN) LIDDEL and the bad guy is called RASHAD EVANS and we all know how this movie is going to end by k.o by the hands of the ICEMAN …..
Hmmm…Rampage is black, isn’t he? I somehow don’t recall Chuck beating him up.
The funniest thing about them airing the Lidell-White fight during Pineapple Express was the fact that the fight kept jumping back and forth in time on the UFC on screen clock, all the while Seth Rogen was having a phone conversation.
I think there may soon be a more recent pic of Chuck beating up a “black dude” come September 6th… Unless age has caught up with him quickly, Rashad should have trouble taking him down, which means he has to strike with him, which could end badly.
Oh, btw, if Rashad wants to get his confidence back up about Chuck and “black dudes”, he should watch the two Rampage fights, lol… Ethnicity doesn’t matter anyway; Evans should have trouble taking Liddell down, and should have trouble striking with him, so it may be a tough fight for him.
I just saw Redbelt for the first time the other day and I thought it was pretty good. The fat guy running the promotion kinda reminded me of Gary Shaw so when he said MMA was fixed, all I thought about was Elite XC fixing their fights. Did anyone else think the same thing?
I’ve seen Never Back Down a couple of times too and I actually like the movie. Most of the fight sequences look pretty real and the blonde chic is hot so that at least held my attention when there wasn’t any fightin goin on.
Yeah, the blond chick was the one positive to me.
Off topic but, they’re making a movie called “Hamill”?
Helen Keller 2
that was wrong on so many levels yet funny at the sametime
what the hell would it be about. pineapple express kicked ass. that movie is the shit. i can pic rashad evens stoned watching that movie think about fruitroll ups and shit. and then he sees chuck in the back ground whopping some ass. good times. hope thats all he sees in the ring. ko him chuck.
Chuck always has a belly, LOL….I don’t get it, does he sap on a keg before he hits the cage?? He was beating up black dudes in the UFC, until Rampage came in the picture…got his a$$ kicked twice!!
Chuck is barrel shaped. If you ever look at the strongman contests those guys have the barrel guts to. I trully believe he generates alot of power by being built the way he is. He has so mch center mass it can only help when bring your hips around for the big hit…
Red Belt was ok. It was kinda cool to see the MAchado’s, Dan Inosanto (one of 3 people in the world who were granted teachersship of JKD by Bruce Lee), Ray-Boom Boom Mancini(also training BJJ for 5 or 6 years), Enson Inoue…I as actually more entertained by the inside mma extras in the special features then the movie but all in all it was ok…
down with that black tuf! Isn’t it the same when black people say, ” that white boy”. Freedom of speech. Down with that black TUF fighter. just kid just kid
lol
that was a good one.
HAHA thats funny as hell
and yea u guys r right never back down was really cheesy but dont get me wrong redbelt was a good movie
toms bombs that gut would knock you out!
Mania – Interview with the man behind the Wolfslair – you might wanna pull out the best bits yourself.
Quinton’s relationship with us started when he was brought over to the north of England a couple of years ago for a seminar that fell through. The Wolfslair stepped in and sorted hotel rooms out for everyone, then let them do the seminar in our academy,” he explains.
“He came over and we did a split camp for when he fought Dan Henderson… we also had Cheick Kongo with us and we had Mike (Bisping) fighting Matt Hamill.
“Half the camp was in Big Bear and half was in England. Quinton and Cheick actually lived with me for a month and we became really good friends.
“He’s come to us, one because we are his friends and two because he knows what a good operation we run. He’s also seen how well Mike has been performing recently and how well conditioned he has been.
“There is no big conspiracy or anything here, he just wanted a change in his training situation and he chose us.”
Some have suggested that Jackson won’t be accessing top level coaching when he trains in the UK, but McGann strongly disputes that.
“He’s very appreciative of our boxing coach Tony Quigley and his son Tony Quigley Jr,” he says. Young Tony won a gold medal when he competed in the Junior Olympics. “He took Young Tony down to London in the week before the Dan Henderson fight to sharpen his hands, because Tony is that good.”
“Quinton is also keen to work with the Sukata brothers, who are the jiu jitsu coaches at Wolfslair. Dave Jackson, our Thai coach, has spent the most time with Quinton out of all our coaches and Quinton loves his style of Muay Thai.”
With Jackson being a huge name and elite-level fighter, do the Wolfslair feel they have the expertise to handle his career from now on? Absolutely, says McGann.
“Managing Mike over the past few years, we have learned the business at a breakneck speed,” he explains. “We work very well with the UFC and in the world of sponsorship we have learned very well and we can compete with any of the guys in America in terms of obtaining sponsorship and brokering deals.”
McGann puts the continuing successes of the Wolfslair camp down to “our humble perspective on things”.
“Me and Lee (Gwynne) are partners in Wolfslair. I do most of the talking and he is very hands-on with the guys, he does a lot of the strength and conditioning,” he reveals.
“Lee never trumpets himself as a great strength and conditioning coach, even though he is. He’s always trying to improve. He spends every night reading every article he can on improving cardiovascular fitness and so on.
“And me as a manger, I always have the thought in my head that I am not the best manager around, which means I am always trying to improve myself. That goes for everyone of our coaches and fighters. When you think you are great, you usually aren’t.
“It is the guy who is striving to be great who usually does the best.”
That said, McGann is by no means painting the Wolfslair as some poor relation to the bigger teams in the mixed martial arts game.
“When Quinton came over for the Dan Henderson camp and he had Kongo with him and four or five other guys, we were a bit daunted by this big American team,” he recalls.
“But our guys trained with them, and our guys were taking them down at will. Quinton said to me “Anthony, you don’t even realise how strong your team is. Your guys are badass.
“We always thought we were doing a half-decent job but now, when we compare ourselves to how the Americans are doing it, we seem to be ahead of the game in terms of management and sponsorship and even training,” he says.
Signing Rampage is another step on a journey that has seen Wolfslair grow from a group of friends training together on hired mats to an emerging force in international MMA.
Since Michael Bisping won series three of The Ultimate Fighter and won, the team has “grown and grown”.
“We are doing main events regularly, we’re getting top sponsorship, we have a great relationship with Dana White and Joe Silva… it’s a fairytale,” laughs McGann.
“We are UFC fans and we started out with MMA as a hobby. Now, we’re filling UK arenas. And let me tell you, there is nothing like walking out with one of your guys – 20,000 people going nuts and you are at the centre of it. It’s a dream come true.”
CHUCKS A SAVAGE
Chuck was in Drillbit Taylor too.
Man thats exactly how this fight is going down, just like the vernon white fight. Chucks gonna catch him with a straight right hand and knock him down and tko him! Man i cant wait for this saturday..its my birthday and im turning 22. Chucks record will be 22-3 muhahaha winner by TKO THE ICEMAN!!
sorry 22-5
thats discrimination!!!!! he also beat up Mexicans and Brazilians
Have you noticed that in every Seth Rogan movie there is some scene with chuck liddel. In Superbad when they are in the bar its Lidell and Horn blurry on the TV, in Knocked up in the earthquake sceen there is a poster of Chuck and randy, and in Pinapple express he fought Vernon White.
He’s got a man-crush on the Iceman
anyone see seth rogans interview with steven colbert? funny stuff, before i saw it my buddy told me he talked about chuck being his favorite fighter. then i watched it and i dont remember that part. would make sense though, with chuck being in the last three seth rogan movies
this fight will go down exactly like Chuck vs Tito
yea just like how he beat up Rampage twice. ROFL.
Since we’re talking about movies, Randy better stick to fighting. I broke down and rented the Scorpion King 2…bad idea, really bad idea.
what ever that movie would be even more of a flop with out randy he did way better than the rock.
I am not sure of that. Randy sounded like he was reading right off of que cards throughout the whole movie. He is as bad as an actor as he is at bullshitting fans…
and I havn’t even see it yet
me either and i have no urge to. haha
