I hope Evens takes this one. IMO he is VERY under-rated. He does need to have a MUCH better fight than his last one(split-decision win over Bisping). This is his chance, Forest beat Rampage, now this is evens big shot.Chuck is not the Chuck of old, but he is still Chuck. 50/50 chance for both to win,I like them both, should be great fight.

Evans, underrated? He’s a tad bit overrated IMO! So overrated in fact, that he gets a chance to face the legendary Iceman for a title shot! MAn Iceman should be fed guys like Machida[w/c will give him fits because it’s gonna be all counter-punching] or Thiago Silva. Unfortunately, these 2 are gonna square off, so they feed him an overrated Evans, who’s gonna get his first taste of defeat at long last!!

Overrated?? I think Chuck may not be in the top 5 or 6 LHWs, you have Forest, Machida, Rampage, Thiago Silva, Rua, Jardine( only adding him because HE BEAT CHUCK), Wanderlei and A. Silva. That is a BIG list. But for you to say Evens should not fight him because Chuck is “Legendary” is insane!!

Comment by TheNegation
2008-08-26 22:24:47

Jardine in the top 5? You’re making me laugh kiddo. Jardine ain’t ever gonna be in the top 5. And you’re placing Jardine ahead of Wanderlei?!?You gotta be kiddin’. Chuck beat Wanderlei, but Chucky ain’t good enough to be on the list? Your list that is.

I think you should edit that list of yours…

I just named them, I did not put them in order. Chuck should be named with them somewhere. Look he had 3 fights in ‘07 and lost 2(Rampage and Jardine) yes Jardine. I have Forest,Rampage, Machida, Thiago, Wandi, ahead of Jardine. Where does that leave Chuck? Look I like Chuck, don’t get me wrong, but the facts prove my point. Evens deserves a shot at one of those names. I don’t know who will win but the looser is screwed!

We really shouldn’t argue about that last part. You’re absolutely right! The loser of this match is definitely SCREWED in the ass, hehe!!…Hope your boy Rashad puts up a nice fight w/the Iceman…

Everyone says he is not the Iceman of old, but the Iceman that fought Wandy was the best version of him I have seen in years. If that is the guy that steps into the octagon with Rashad, it will be a very quick fight.

Comment by Toms Bombs
2008-08-27 07:42:01

I don’t think he is the Iceman of old. Wanderlei stood in front of him for 5 rounds and blased away, which is a perfect style for Liddell’s longer reatch and counter-striking. But he still coudln’t put him away. I could be wrong, but Liddell’s never gone this long without KO’ing someone.

Comment by JV
2008-08-27 09:21:12

“Couldnt put him away” Thats more credit to Wanderlei’s toughness. Did you see Wandys face? Wandy had bumps on top of bumps on top of more bumps! Just wait till Rashad gets hit, then we’ll find out what type of heart he has? It will be a tough fight, but its all Chuck in this fight!

Comment by Chadx23
2008-08-26 20:54:41

technically his last 3 fights were against guys known for striking even though Jardine and Rampage both started as wrestlers….I will agree that if you look at all of Chuck’s opponents, most are ground guys/wrestlers…he lost to Rampage, known for striking and he beat Wanderlei and Alistar Overeem, 2 strikers….I want to see Chuck fight winner of Machida/Thiago, Shogun, Wanderlei again, or A. Silva…maybe even a rematch with Jardine down the road…if Vera can do something I think that would be an interesting matchup as well, but I see Chuck taking that fight if it were to happen. I am dreading the scenario where Chuck beats Rashad, Chuck gets title shot w/ Forrest, Chuck wins title, Chuck defends to Rampage and gets beat again…I do not want to see that be the end of Chucks career. If Chuck can win the title from Forrest, he should defend it against winner of Machida/Thiago.

Thiago/Machida should be ahead of Chuck in terms of a title, but its more about PPV than who is the best it would seem.

I see Chuck beating Rashad the same way he beat Tito the 2nd time.

Guys, how would you call the Marquardt-Kampmann fight. Kampmann has evolved so much, and so has Nate. Nate has changed a lot after the Spider loss and he should’ve won the Leites fight if he just fought smart. My guess is Nate, but I could never count Kampmann out. Fatal move to underestimate a fighter!!

Or say tito when he was in his prime or randy in his prime they are also very easy!! Or even Kevin Randleman or Rampage, infact why not send him to japan to fight the best over there thats also easy!! im fed up with chuck fighting these nobodys in the sport, its ridiculous!!!!!!
Sobralx2, tito x2, randyx2, Wandi, vitor belfort, Bustamante, vernon white, randleman, monson…… bloody hell i dont recognise any of these bums!! he should fight hendo, oooops hes a wrestler that would be too easy, infact he should fight shogun, ooops he injured his knee thats chucks fault that happened. He just dodges everybody doesnt he. Some of you so called MMA fans are a disgrace, slating one of the legends of the sport who has demolished almost an entire division and to use the weakest of excuses like he gets fed wrestlers???? I agree with everything he says though. Somehow Chuck has become “under rated” by a lot of people. I knew that would happen when he lost his title, (pretty soon Rampage will be a bum too), but when he beat Wandy I thought most people would have jumped back on his bandwagon.

Chuck is one of those fightrs I will always be a fan of.

I have no idea how Hammil is the underdog. I love Rich but he is not ready for 205. Who did he beat at 205 last time SHAMROCK and TANNER? Hamil is a beast and has a HUGE advantage. I think being able to block but the crowd and that kind of focus is going to get him straight to the title.

He is undefeated (Bisping buls%it!)

Hamil wins this tko in late 2 early 3

Comment by GSP4Prez
2008-08-26 21:53:45

You don’t see how Hammil is the underdog? Maybe cause Rich is the man and has only lost to Anderson Silva and Lyota Machida in his whole career and Hammil has 4 or 5 fights total in his career. Rich was a huge 185 pounder he will not have the size advantage at 205 but I think he will be plenty strong to deal with Hammil and his standup is way better than Hammil’s although I will admit Hammil’s was much improved in his last couple of fights.

Hammill has sloppy and predictable stand-up that’s tailor-made for a more technical and diverse striker like Franklin. Do not make the mistake of counting out Franklin just because he looked terrible in his two fights against Silva. He is still among the elite fighters in the world, and Hammill will have no answer for him.

The only reason why Chuck is being fed to Rashad is cuz dana white wants Chuck to be champ again…. thats why Machida is fighting Thiago silva- so that one can drop the ladder and would never have to face the “iceman”.. whatever i guess being talented and being to win doesn’t work with UFC no more its all about PPV sales now..

i dont hear anyone bichin about silva being fed cote.

and seeing how forrest just beat page i dont get why people are saying chuck is just gonna be able to cruise to another title because of Dana.

Comment by chefdaddy
2008-08-27 06:25:54

The only reason Silva is fighting Cote is that he is WELL on his way to mopping the floor with his entire division. And they have to find someone to fight him. I used to think Chuck was given the easier route to a title fight, but have since changed my mind, cuz I have a p*ss poor memory. He was going to fight Shogun, but his knee blew out. Then he went to WAR with Wandi. I think people are saying that simply b/c he’s fighting Rashad, rather than Thiago or Machida. Rashad, on paper anyway, is a FAR easier match for him. That being said, Rashad deserves his chance to see if he can hang with the big boys. Let’s hope he doesn’t attempt a lay ‘n pray, which, with Chuck, is next to impossible. However, just for the fun of it, I’m picking Rashad in this one.

Brazilian bruiser Anderson Silva is happy to fight British bulldog Michael Bisping in his own backyard.

Silva says he would be happy to travel to these shores and defend his UFC world middleweight title against ‘The Count’.

It’s the kind of mouth-watering match-up that will give Bisping even more of an incentive to beat Chris ‘The Crippler’ Leben at Birmingham’s NIA on October 18.

Silva said: “I would like to fight Michael Bisping in his home country in front of all of his own fans.

“That is the kind of challenge I would like to take on. I would enjoy going somewhere overseas like Britain to fight.”

Silva is one of the most feared men ever to climb into the octagon, winning all of his seven contests since joining the UFC just over two years ago.

The 23-year-old has been thinking of moving up to the light-heavyweight division but is now likely to stay a very considerable force in the 185lbs ranks.

He makes the next defence of his title against American Patrick Cote at UFC 90 in Chicago on October 25.

Silva is a firm odds-on favourite to win, but Cote insisted: “I think I have the best style to beat this guy.

“I have a good chin, I’ll go forward and I won’t be scared of him like many of his opponents have been.”

Meanwhile, Marcus Davis, the American of Irish descent, will be aiming to make it a hat-trick of wins over Brits in his next fight in October.

The former professional boxer tackles fast-rising Scouser Paul Kelly on the UFC 89 bill topped by Michael Bisping in Birmingham.

Top British UFC fighters Jason Tan and Paul Taylor have both failed to go more than a round against Davis.

But Kelly said: “Beating Davis will really get me noticed in the States and underline I am here to stay.

“I fear nothing and nobody and I always come to fight.”

1. Chuck ( this fight will go similar to chuck/tito (1 & 2)
2. Lyoto Machida (BUT I WANT THIAGO SILVA)
3. Karo
4. Franklin
5. Palhares
6. Nate
7. Tavares
8. Kim
9. Mcdonald

THIS CARD IS STACKED, this has the potential to be the best card of the year.

You Have huge stars who have been main event draws on previous cards

Lidell
Henderson
Franklin
Rashad
MArquart

Then you have Parisyan Hammill Kampmann

The reason this card has so much potential is because you have several fighters with thier futures riding on September 8. Dan henderson is on the verge of dropping 3 staight he will be fighting with everything he has, Marquart cant aford to drop two straight and go 1 for 4 in his lat 4 fights. Franklin must win his return to LHW . Chuck is 1 for three in his last 3 fights and if he loses to rashad he will have dropped 2 fights to TUF alum. Its a must win for chuck. And when you have great fighters with thier backs to the Wall expect fireworks on september 8. THIS PPV IS A MUST SEE ON A TV MINIMUM OF 40 INCHES AND IN HD and not on a 15 inch blurry CPU screen. can anybody say HERE WE GO.

I also like the Jason Lambert (23-8) vs. Jason MacDonald (20-10)fight. Especially after the show Madonald put on in his last fight. That guy is a gamer. I’d like to see if he could actually put a few wins together. He has the skills to start making a legit climb to the top if he puts his mind to it.
