UFC 90 tickets for “Silva vs. Cote” at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., on October 25 are selling fast, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
In fact, more than 80 percent of the nearly 19,000 seats have been gobbled up for the first-ever UFC show in the Chicago area just hours after tickets went on sale. The gate, according to the report, has already topped the $2 million mark with “only about 3,000 of the higher-priced tickets remaining.”
It’s not UFC 83: “Serra vs. St. Pierre 2” type movement, which sold out the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, during an exclusive presale, but it is impressive nonetheless.
The good news does not come as a surprise to UFC President Dana White.
”This is a bold statement in a town with the White Sox and Cubs and the Bears, but I guarantee you this will be the most exciting live sporting event you have ever seen. I can’t explain it to you. You have to experience it. Chicago is the biggest pay-per-view market for us, and ratings for Spike TV’s ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show are huge in Chicago. We’re going to beat WrestleMania as the highest-grossing event ever at Rosemont.”
For those who may have missed our post last month, here’s the UFC 90 tickets sales schedule:
UFC Fight Club presale: Friday, August 15 at 10 a.m. CT
UFC Newsletter presale: Sunday, August 17 at 10 a.m. CT
General ticket sale: Monday, August 18 at 10 a.m. CT
UFC 90 tickets can be purchased through StubHub.com. REMEMBER: StubHub often has seats available even if the event is “sold out.” That will likely come into play for this event.

i will be attending this event live
i had to miss the last event.
it is a shame cause it was a good event.
beijing is beautiful. even with the smog.
i will b back in cali 2morro.
how r my fans holding up with me not around?
say word!
Stinky my man!!!! Did you catch any of the Phelps’s races?? Did you try to watch the opening ceremonies from a distance??
the ufc will be lucky if they can get half of the intensity that a cubs-white sox game brings, and half the intensity considering the comparison would be as much as they’ve had at any other show
If they want the penn vs GSP fight to be history making i suggest they go to montreal cause that will be HUGE.
same could be said if the fight were to take place in Hawaii! GSP alreday has had the luxury of enjoying home field advantage. I wouuld like to see him go fight someone else on their home turf to see how he does in HOstile territory.
gSP vs. Penn 2 in Hawaii would be amazing!
GSP has had homefield advantage for 1 of his 13 UFC fights and we all know it wasn’t against Penn. At least Penn fought in his home country before.
Anyway, aside from that. I kind of wonder about the article. I just went and checked and there are still tickets available in the 100’s. That’s kind of weird. If 80% are sold you would think that all of the floors are gone. I could have got section 110 row FF. Does anyone know if that’s near the front or the back of the 100’s in that arena?
Crap…I just read the part about only high priced tickets remaining.
john- Penn wants the champ, so he needs to fight the champ where ever it may be right? You just know deep down inside that BJ needs every advantage he can get! When they do fight BJ is in trouble!
what the hell are u talking about? According to your strange nonsense logic, then GSP shouldnt have gotten a title shot against the champ Matt SErra in Montreal?
Terrible argument JV, try again!
I see what your saying, But I think that was more for the sale of the arena. Do you think that would have sold the same in the states? I dont even think Serra could sell in NY?
Serra may not be able to sell NY, but GSP could sell out any city in the USA!
Financially it makes even more sense to have the fight in Hawaii, those people go CRAZY for MMA and BJ is a GOD over there!
Having the fight in Hawaii is a no loose situation for the UFC, just dont know if its a good idea for GSP!
Damn it, lets stop talking baout this fight, I am a huge Penn and GSP fan and this match up is making me choose sides and I dont want to bash GSP anymore, but Penn will WIN!
Dana’s right about our loyal sports fanbase, however if, IF the Cubs have a game on October 25th, I will definitely sell my tickets. Go Cubs Go!
It would have been nice to have AA on this card.
It’d be worth going to watch this just to see Alves v Shanchez
i got my tickets thank god paid a bundle but i am sitting only two rows from the floor near the middle
