At just 21 years old — and only four months of professional mixed martial arts experience — it’s safe to say that UFC light heavyweight fighter, Jon Jones, has some serious upside. He knows how to handle himself with class outside the cage, too:

Jon “Bones” Jones could be the real thing. I hope he doesn’t fizzle like Alexander did.
Alexander who??? (lol) I thought this guy was a LW at first. But dam, 6′4″ at LHW, 7-0 he is definatly a good prospect! I liked that spinning back elbow he tried.
He is pretty damn skinny for a lhw.
Coz of his height.
I am on the “Bones” Bandwagon!
I don’t remember seeing his fight. Was it a prelim?
Yes, against a very tough veteran, Andre Gusmao.
it looked like Kongo wanted to make out with him lol, in all seriousness though Jones does look like he has some serious potential… I definitely wouldnt want to fight him, and ive been training longer than him! yikes!
mma that is at least, dont have a very long wrestling background at all
congo is the man haha
haha ya, hes usually such a boring person, but with this he seems like a funny guy
and im not sure about jon jones, i wanna see him fight a tougher guy, not taking anything away from gusmao
I think it’s extremely impressive that he was able to beat Andre Gusmao in his first UFC (was it his first pro?) fight. The UFC continues to upgrade their enormous stable at LHW.
His is now 6-0. The week before they announced that he was fighting on the UFC card, Inside MMA was recapping some local shows, and they showed highlights of Battle Cage Xtreme 5 and showed Jones in action against Moyses Gabin. I thought to myself, WOW that KID looked very impressive. Then like three days later I find out that the UFC just signed him. I bet that some member of the UFC brass was watching that same episode!
Thanks. I was relegated to watching 87 online. I’m downloading the fight from UFC as I speak..er type.
Just watched the fight. The kid has potential for sure. His frame kinda reminds me of A. Silva’s. Easy guys, I said his frame, not his skill.
If he gets with a top notch training program, he will be around for awhile, and probably beat up a few guys while he’s at it.
Did anyone catch Rogan’s “Jones is the black guy, Gusmao is the white guy” comment? Pretty funny actually, and I was thinking the same thing.
kongo!!! what a nutcase! didnt get to see this fight but have not got time now so maybe tomorro
I like this guy already.
+1.
This guy has serious potential. Won 6 of his fights since April 2008. That’s a lot of wins and fights in a short time.

he looks Hollywood!
He is the same height as Kongo! 6′4 is tall for a LHW and Kongo even said he needs to work on using that long reach.
If he can take a shot i think he has great potential and at 21 years old he has a long career ahead!
Give Kongo the tit-el…or not!
He looked pretty impressive for a relatively inexperienced guy. And I thought Kongo was way taller than that, he looks beastly when he enters the cage. I thought he was 6′6″ or 6′7″, but Sherdog lists him at 6′4″.
But what exactly is a “hardcore” Christian?
maybe a crusader, or a puritan.
kid has a bright future! hopefully he hooks up with a good camp & im sure he’s gonna go places he moves very confident 4 being so green! his fight was excellent considering he was up against a veteran!
When I saw him at the weigh-ins I was immediately impressed by the kid and thought right then and there that I should keep an eye on him. He and Anthony Johnson are the upcoming stars in their respective divisions. It’s going to be really cool to see how they progress.
Good kid. I hope he’s in it for the long haul and does well!
his size surprises me. I thought he looked like a welterweight similar to anthony johnson until congo stood next to him.
Just so everyone knows I was in wrestling tournaments with this guy, he was awesome.
