I think it all depends on where the fight goes. Franklin will take the stand-up while Hamill definitely has the advantage on the ground as far as takedowns are concerned. However, I don’t remember that he has great G & P and I don’t think his submissions are anything special. I think this fight will be one where Hamill, if he wants to win, keeps taking him down and doesn’t do much once he gets there. Does anyone know what camp Franklin trains with, I think he kind of has his own right? I would like to seem him train more with Couture’s camp or something. I think his training growth has gotten stagnant.

This fight should still be interesting, but when you finally get to see Franklin and Hendo on the same card and they are not fighting eachother?-It just pisses me off..

The fight should be good but we could have seen Franklin fight Hendo,Chuck or even Rashad would have been better..

PEZ, Franklin is trained by Jorge Gurgel, and YES it is time for him to move out of Ohio and finally go train with an elite camp.

JOHN, How can you keep dissing this fight??? Hamill was very one dimensional against Bisping, it was all stand up. Also, his fight agaisnt Boetsch was not one dimensional either, he laid the smack down!

I see this as a competitive fight. I already got Franklin on a parlay. The only way he loses is if he get bullied by Hamil for 8-9 minutes and loses a decision. On most of Hamill’s takedowns, his head doesn’t get too low, so he isn’t that susceptible to knees while shooting. I think that I have rooted for both of these fighters so far in every one of thier fights. If I didn’t have a vested interest in Franklin, I would be rooting for Hamill as a fan.

Well said Mike, the only thing I have a problem with is you think the only way Hamell win is by decision. Hamell is such a GREAT wrestler he can get him in a rear-naked choke, triangle choke, well any choke for that matter. And his stand-up is MUCH better, not better than Franklin but in this sport it only takes one shot. He may shock the world!!

This fight will only last if Hammill can lay ‘n pray on Franklin. Franklin’s stand up, and submissions are simply far superior (well-rounded). Can Hamill take him down? Probably, but even in the mount he has shown to have a relatively weak g ‘n p, while Rich would likely catch him in a submission. While I respect what Hamill has done, he simply isn’t ready for Ace.

I hope so Negation as he is one my favorite fighters! Hopefully we get to see some of the pre-Silva Franklin, taking the high profile, high risk shots, and knockin’ Hamill out! I have to agree with john partially about Hamill, I don’t see him being a truly well rounded fighter…….well, ever. He’s a powerful, determined, respectful guy who can take some punishment so I’ll wish him luck, but not against Ace!

My point exactly, he isnt well rounded. If you are going ot be 1 dimensional, I would prefer you be a Striker like Kongo or a Jits guy like Almeids…1 dimensional wrestlers like Hammil just Bore me to death! Hopefully Ace taps him on the chin and puts the BRUTE to sleep!

It wasn’t bad at all, but Boetsch gassed in that mile high altitude and accepting that fight on 2(?) weeks notice. But Boetsch simply can’t be compared to Franklin (I know you weren’t doing that).

Hamil’s stand up isn’t all that bad. He landed some nice shots on Bisping in their fight, and he works dirty boxing in the clinch pretty well too. I’m not saying he can go toe to toe with Rich but he might land a few surprises.

I think Ace is going to atempt submitions, He doesn’t mention it in the clip but i am sure that he working alot of subs from the back. He needs to win, and he’s the favorite to do so.

I also think Hammil’s stand up is underated, in the fight with Bisping he looked crisp and he can only get better.

All he did in that fight was to jab with his chin straight up and just walked down a scared Bisping. They both looked terrible.

IF he decides decides to just TRY to stand with ACE he will get caught. As many has written before me, he isnt ready for Rich Franklin. He will loose the stand-up AND the ground game if Rich tries to submit him (dont think he will. He probably just make some attempts to put Hamill on the defence and then make his way up).

Prediction: KO by a knee to the face after a thai-clinch!

Pez- he trains with the “wizard” matt hume…look him up…franklin should have left gurgel’s dumbass along time ago and joined this guy…we would have seen 2 completly different fights with silva if he had done this…as for hamill ground game..he has nice strong take down but his skill set of just hammer fisting and bodu shot once it hits the ground will not be enough to win this fight. the bisping fight showed he can wrestle you down fairly quick, but he could not hold him down very long and would eat jabs and crosses on his approach to a grapple with bisping also dirty boxing you with his head down in an open clinch. franklins ground game is very solid. (you dont always need a black belt in BJJ to be a great ground fighter) i say hamill will look to take franklin down and eat many shot in his approaches and his clinch takedowns.

and bisping was a small LHW..VM i expected more from you than to make excuses for fighters…dont. hurt or not hurt..a fighter comes in there with his own mind made up to fight. im not taking anything away from franklin, hamill, nor bisping. hamill will take him down for sure…but i see him landing very few decisive shots and just losing top position quickly…maybe getting submitted that is all upto hamill he is strong enough to get out most attempts but with an experienced guy like franklin…expect hamill to be submitted thru his own mistakes…he comes in alot with hand down as well. bisping was cathing him alot with punches hamill didnt have to take. either way i like both of them as fighter and wish the best for both of them. and VM franklin did train with gurgel but he has isnce left that camp and training with Matt Hume.gurgel is still with franklin but only training under Hume as well.

and im not quick to write off any fighter as crappy or one dimensional..im less of a d*ck than most of the guys here…im very unbias to my facts and opinion and i call it like it is regardless of who is fighting. VM do you think hamill has gotten past putting his hands down for shots like matt hughes does? i see that his main issue…to be honest the reason he lost that fight with hamill is cuz he made the mistake of making bispign look good with his boxing by putting his hands down..and he was hurt more than he needed to be by boetch, hamill won that fight cuz boetch was crazy and though he could take down hamill and hold him there.

And Forrest holds the belt without fighting for 2 years as you go through your matchups. That is gayer than Richard Simmons having a hairy nutsack repeatedly smacking him in the chin with an open mouth.

Sorry for the mental image to everyone but Scott…. LOL

Scott, I don’t ever see a “playoff system”, but perhaps you are speaking of a tournament style which the UFC no longer uses. Reference DREAM 5 if you want to find out a perfect example why not to.

That’s why you make the comments and not the matchups Scott. How can the winner of Machida and Silva go anywhere but straight to the title fight? If Rashad wins which is unlikely he should get a shot at the title 3 months after Loyoto or Thiago get their shot. Chuck needs a couple more fights to establish if he is motivated enough to get a shot at getting his belt back. You can’t go 1 from 3 or 2 from 4 straight into contention even if you are the Iceman. It would cheapen the belt and be unfair on guys who are genuine contenders.

By the way, Rich “Anus… i mean Ace!” Franklin will make absolute mince meat of Hamill. Hamill is over rated and under skilled. Hamill has been stagnant in his development which is a shame, because he might have made a mark on the LHW division if his brains matched his brawn.

It doesn’t matter where Hamill takes it because Rich is better in every position. When comparing the 2 Hamill has the advantage it TDs, but can not do anything when there. Franklin on his back is still dangerous. We just don’t see him in that position too often.

I think Hamill may get a TD or 2, but will do nothing with it. This fight stays standing and Rich will bloody him up pretty bad.

Do you all remember the Hamill, Bisping fight??? I still to this day tihnk he won that fight. But my point is he went the distance with bisping,(like I said, I think he beat-up Bisping). So is Franklin better than Bisping at LHW? I say NO-WAY!!! If he stays away from knees and elbows there is no way Franklin wins this one.

I woudnt say Rich is irrelevent. Rich is too strong of a MW gate keeper and thats why hes trying LHW. Hamill doesnt have alot of skill but he makes up for it in stength. Hamill was bustin up Bisping with a jab. Its going to be a tough fight!

he’s beaten every middle weight thrown at him apart from anderson silva.

thats retarded to say he’s not worth anything, he’s the number 2 at that division.

He can beat up everybody except The Spider so it’s not fair to match him up with rising contenders. Rich is stuck with HUGE fights and a bigger, stronger, tougher weight class.

My biggest disappointment about this card is how badly I wanted to see Rich fight Henderson. They’re both on the card, but they’re fighting different fighters! In my opinion, this is a big mistake. The only thing I can think of is that if both fighters win, they’ll fight each other. However, both are fighting dangerous opponents. Franklin risks getting taken down over and over and losing a three round decision, and Henderson risks getting submitted. Bad Joe Silva!
