elitexc show
Elite XC has apparently canceled its upcoming Showtime show from “The Pit” at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., on September 20, according to The Fight Network.

No reason was given for the sudden decision.

Here’s the snip:

“EliteXC has canceled their September 20th event that was scheduled to take place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.”

Jake Shields, Nick Diaz, Joey Villasenor, Paul “Semtex” Daley, Dave “Pee Wee” Herman and others were all expected to compete on the card.

No more details are available at this time. Stay tuned.

I just read on Sherdog that Cyborg Gina might have been on this card, that is truly depressing as this could have been one of the womens fights that I actually appreciated. Don’t get my wrong I respected Young and Brazler but there are only so many female fights that are possible… like maybe 6 female fighters that count in all.

is this the begining of the end? I doubt it since they have a deal with cbs, but if cbs cancels the next show, then we could see nick diaz and jake shields back in the ufc. Hoe bour lesnr absolutely putting a beating on kimbo…we can only hope!

Lets not jump to conclusions. Its not like this was supposed to be a CBS card. I dont think EliteXC is ready to fold just yet.

2008-08-15 16:30:05

john, do you have reading problems? I said I doubt it’s the end, so what conclusion would I be jumping to? you love to jump to disagree with me so badly, that half the time you don’t understand what I say. I realize italian is probably your first language, but drexel is a good school, so I’m assuming your a smart kid, so what part of “I doubt it since they have a deal with cbs” don’t you get? One other thing, you jump on guys for “judging” and “hating” but yet I read the other day yet another yoko coture comment. How do you know your Girlfriend isn’t with you because of your inheritence? And your hypocritical comments are funny, you bash the rest of us for judging, and in your next comment do just that!

The saying “jump to the conclusion” is a figure of speech and isn’t always meant to be taken literally. Boy, you really got bent out of shape over John’s comment. Smoke some weed, you’ll feel better… I know this.

This could quite possibly be “the first shoe to drop”. The situation with CBS is tenuous at best.

Slowly starting to fold. Meaning it’s all or nothing on Oct 4. Sucks for Cris cyborg. I was hoping she would get another KO. But everyone else on that card is irrelevant in the scheme of things in MMA.

That is a terrible move, no company should ever cancel without giving reason. This just goes to show that Exc still has not progressed all that well in management even without that bag (you all know who I’m talking about)

probably has something to do with Strikeforce having an event on the same night.

Elite has been in trouble since the beginning of the year! I had read on yahoo sports that they were 27mil in the hole. And this was back in like Feb. I think.

yeah. they are in a big hole. if the next big free card they have with kimbo and gina doesnt live up to expectations ratings wise, you can probably stick a fork in them. no matter what though it doesnt look good and i dont see why they would cancel a show a month out unless it was from money problems.

This show is on the same night as the Strikeforce Playboy Mansion show, maybe that is part of it??? I thought the last CBS show was way better than the first one so this news is a little dissappointing. The ratings should go up for the next show with Kimbo, but an organization cannot surive off of 1 big name fighter. I am sure Affliction will find this out soon as well.

why the hell would they schedule 2 events at the same time. everyone knows that elite/strikeforc are together, just like the ufc and the wec. it would be like the ufc scheduling a ufn the same night that the wec aired a live event. so its a schedule problem, wich is just as bad. (nobody needs to remind me that spike aired a ufc show the same night as the wec, that was spike’s decision not zuffa’s)

Wasn’t this the venue we heard about a while back that had way more seats then the venue in Stockton that didn’t even sell out. They are little ambitious with so many shows scheduled and not so much talent.

Honestly, I’m not all that torn up about it. Yeah, yeah, I know, Competition is good for the fans. I agree, but I assure you, Coca-Cola has never felt threatened by the “Sams Choice” line of soft drinks. One would actually have to compete in order for there to be “competition”, and I’m not sure EliteXc is [competing].
