2008-08-08 13:10:15

for those of you who missed my picks in the cream thread, thanks for posting again mania!
FRIDAY MORNING CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN:
I debated all day yesterday, I’m going to get a little personal guys! My wife and I have been trying to have a second child for almost 2 years now. I was absolutely sickened by Rampage and Dana having a grand old time in that interview. I’m 100% sure him being god was a direct affect on that womans miscarriage, and he’s training and having fun. I really hope that Wand is his next opponent. this time I hope those knees leave Rampage in a coma. To think he used to be one of my favorites!
*
UFC 87 predictions:
I think this is the only card in a while that looks great on paper, but could go either way. It has the makings of a pretty boring night of fight!
GSP will win, I can’t see him losing, and if we’re lucky, we’ll see the exciting GSP and it will be a KO, rather than the scared of getting KO’d wrestling gsp.
I got Herring in one of two outcomes. Catching lesner with a knee when he shoots, or weathering the initial lesner flurry, and submitting him! IN a perfect world brock tries to stand with him, but I doubt it!
I think Florian will win quite easily! I think he is overall more experienced and has better skills! I’m one of the few guys who loves Kenny’s elbows (I refuse to call them Hell bows)
Manny gamburian…why is he televised other than for the guys who nut for TUF. Congo is finally fighting a stand up guy, and should have an exciting fight, and we’re stuck with Karo’s cousin (mini Karo), a bit disappointing! Manny wins!

When I hear more, I’ll give my opinion, until then, it was kinda wierd to see Rampage acting normal after such an abnormal event… I don’t know if he should be acting any different.

yeah rampage is a good guy. Its not like he just caused a woman to have a miscarriage or anything.

2008-08-08 13:21:23

did you guys see the interview on yahoo? “she had a miscarriage a week later, he only hit her mirror” is what dana whit said. He’s a doctor now. older woman have tougher pregnancies, it’s been reported she was having a normal healthy pregnancy prior to being side swiped by a monster truck. No, a monster truck hitting you isn’t stressful or harmful to an unborn baby!

another quote from rampage…if i were a fighter of his caliber, I would care about wins/losses. I’m losing respect by the minute!!

“It is what it is. I don’t care about fights because I’m a fighter. That’s not going to be the last fight I lose. Who cares about that? I don’t care about winning the fight. Who cares? I’m going to come back, train hard and make more money.”

Have you heard of the saying “Innocent till proven guilty” why don’t you wait and see what the courts have to say before judging rampage and assuming it was something to do with him. I know Rampage going on his rampage was wrong and he should be punished for that but im still skeptic about the whole miscarrage thing and i doubt he even attributed to it but we’ll see. And what do you want from Rampage? Just to be thinking and saying sorry 24 hours a day all the time for something he most likely had nohing to do with.

I think you guys are missing Kevin’s point completely. Its the fact that instead of apologizing about his misdeeds he is making excuses. What Rampage did was not only incredibly illadvised on his part now he is working spin control with Dana.

First why was he delusional from not eating and drinking energy drinks? didn’t he do this in preparation for the Forrest fight, why wouldn’t he eat healthy after the fight? Second because he is in a bad place in his life and he is delusional its ok that he went on a Rampage through the city. and Third why couldn’t he appologize to the people he affected in his delusional wake and just say we will address the miscarrage in court but I do want to say my prayers go out to the woman who lost her child? It shows sympathy and responsibility but whatever he can act like a child. “I don’t care about winning, just making money” Geez man why don’t you just kick your fans in the balls?

*If a miscarrage is caused by anything other than emotional trama (meaning it was physically caused) the doctors would be able to tell. It seems that Rampage could be more at fault more than he is claiming and he should instead issue an apology (which he has not done as of yet to anyone) for such a crazy act (one f’ing apology seriously)

Why does Rampage have to issue a public apology just to make you happy when you aren’t involved? You are talking about things of a private nature and have no clue about other than speculation. Do you want access to the woman’s medical files also so you can really climb higher on your pedestal? You don’t know and have no need to know the details of Jackson’s legal affairs and the woman’s medical history. Moreover, I am glad you are not Rampage’s lawyer advising him to run around and film apologies. Donkeys!

I’ve said it before…like a year ago, how long is GSP going to rock that same suit? I wear a suit once a year and have more options. I prefer my fighters looking casual, he’s not going to a meeting, he’s going to kick some ass. He just needs to give his fighters a little more respect and appreciation, they all have a part in Dana’s success.

I bring this up because Dana didn’t allow any footage of Randy’s UFC fights to be shown on his Biography the other night. I just thought to myself: The only rational, business resoning for Dana to do that, is to soley prevent any of Randy’s ongoing success.

It takes good fighters as well as good business men to make the UFC successful. And I think Randy did his part as well as Dana. But, It’s the fighters that get the butt end of the stick during and especially after their career at the UFC.

Yes, business is cut throat, and Dana is trying to preserve the integrity of the company. But, Dana owes it to his fighters to aknowledge the success that they helped him to achieve well after they’re out of the UFC.

Randy signed the contract and did not do what he said he would when he signed, so no Randy did not fullfill his obligations.

Comment by Kimura by Fedor
2008-08-08 18:49:50

True, that’s is the business aspect of it… I agree (like I mentioned). But, just like the music industry, the record company’s make all the money and success off the bands, the ones who have the actual talent to showcase, then when it is all said and done, the record company’s get all rights and reep all the benifits.

On the other hand, I do get your point. Randy is the one who signed the contract, and has an obligation to fulfill it. My question is: is there a clause in the contract that says if there is a breach in the contract, Zuffa will not allow any footage of any fights hereon after? Or is it Dana’s personal call?

I have a feeling it’s Dana’s personal call.

Kev….as a father of 4 I too found the miscarriage news disturbing. But…when you are potentially facing civil or criminal charges you do not comment on the issue. You could easily prejudice your case…Especially as a celebrity where everything you say get’s reported and is part of the public record. I am sure he’s “lawyered up” tight right now and has been advised to not say jack about anything specific.

I would bet $$$ that as soon as Rampage knows which way the wind will blow on this he will absolutely issue a statement of condolence. Well…he will if he is any kind of human being at all.

As for his statements about the fight and “not caring”….I attribute that to “getting past” the loss. Stupid thing to say but having followed Rampages’ career for several years I know that’s BS. He cares big time. I think most folks would agree.

I am withholding judgement on Rampage for now because I still believe that “innocent until proven guilty” is the right way to go….

He might have reached out to the family. He didn’t do that to hurt anyone. As of right now there are no charges, he isn’t guilty of anything. As far as were concerned it was a chemical inbalance that created the state he was in that led to the unfortunate miscarriage of the auto victim. I am sure he is dealing with his demons and the aferaffect of that accident. I understand your feelings on life being precious but don’t assume he doens’t appreciate life because of a mistake. dont’ judge dude..

I am sure that Rampage would like to publicly apologize and state that he was sorry if his actions may have contributed to that woman’s miscarriage. However, we live within a legal system that would use any expression of remorse by Rampage as evidence in a court of law that he is guilty. His attorneys probably told him not to mention it in public. However, Rampage does seem to be going a little overboard appearing so happy, which would understandably upset some people. Privately, Rampage certainly feels remorse and is fearful of legal consequences as most people would. His attorneys are probably expressing his apology privately and offering a financial settlement.

Hate to break up all the Rampage talk, but I just wanted to mention something abt Dana: He DOES seem like a really cool guy. He DOESN’T seem to be the kind of guy who would lie to people or try to bully/cheat/manipulate fighters. But the facts are the facts. Many UFC fighters ARE underpaid. The UFC DOES have merchandising contracts which are very unfair to fighters. This evidence is available to anyone who wants to do Web searches and has some initiative. Maybe Dana is a cool person in a lot of ways. But facts are facts. I hope he learns and changes his business practices…
