Thales Leites (14-1) and Goran Reljic (8-0) will lock horns at UFC 90: “Silva vs. Cote” at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Ill., on October 25, pitting two up-and-coming talents up against one another to determine who will rise to the top faster within the 185-pound division.
Leites was supposed to take on Dean Lister at UFC Fight Night 15 in Omaha, Neb., on September 17; however, the “Boogeyman” sustained an injury during training and was scratched from the showdown.
Fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Leites has rattled of four straight wins inside that Octagon. And that includes a controversial split decision win of perennial contender, Nathan Marquardt, at UFC 85: “Bedlam” back in June.
His only career loss is to Martin Kampmann in his promotional debut back in 2006.
Reljic is a 23-year-old undefeated Croatian fighter who stopped Wilson Gouveia via technical knockout in his debut performance for the promotion at UFC 84: “Ill Will” back in May. He trains with the Roger Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy in London, England, where he is a purple belt.
In addition, he is the protege of former UFC heavyweight fighter, Mirko Cro Cop.

Reljic looked bad ass in his last fight. His kicks were brutal. I hope he’s the underdog in this fight and I can get good odds to bet on him.
i agree. at least the part about him being a badass. goran looked like a natural in his last fight.
Wait till the fight hits the ground. Goran is known as a BJJ guy and trains at Gracie Barra UK.
I’m suprised this fight is at 185lbs. Goran walks around at 230lbs and is massive.
Damn iT! Leites is my Dude, but Reijic scares the crap out of me (I am a fan of his as well) Its really a shame that one of these 2 will have to loose.
I expect Reijic to be a MONSTER at 185 lbs. He is really tall and lanky!
I would like to see:
Kendall Grove vs Goran Reijic two of the tallest middleweights in the UFC go at it! Kendall would get knocked out for sure, but It would feature some exciting striking.
Speaking of Kendall Grove, I havent heard any news about him. He last fought in June, we are due to hear about a match up involving him!
This fight better be TELEVISED! this us the 3rd best fight after Sanchez/Alves and Silva/Cote!
If this gets bumped to the undercard in favor of:
TYson vs. Sherk
Melvin vs. Spencer
I will be really, really pissed off! I do not want to see 3 lightweight fights on the same ppv main card!
If the UFC doesnt air this fight I will throw a major Bitch-Fit!
Actually, I saw a replay of the Wilson/Goran fight and Goran was getting his lunch eaten.
He actually pulled guard because Wilson was getting the better of him in the stand up.
He got a lucky punch in because Wilson got cocky and knocked him out (2nd round?).
Anyway, I am not convinced by Goran yet. I got Leites in this one.
was the gouveia/reljic fight at 185? i thought it was at 205?
205
yup, therefore, Goran will be bigger at this weight class. He’s a future spot for the div definitely…
Reljic fought at 205 and impressed big time. This fight with leites should be a sleeper for fight of the night.
Why the hell would Goran drop to 185? He look pretty big to me at 205, and he beat a top contender.
Goran walks around at 230lbs, and is massive.
doesnt make sense to me either….and it would make even less sense if Leites went to 205…Im not sure I get this match up.
Massive because he’s 1 tall motherf88k!
No reason for him to drop down…..Guess Dana is bitching that no one is left to fight anderson…Goran Reljic is the shit but they better not try and rush him to fight for the title he needs some more experience first strikes(punches) were not to great. Hope to see him improve before he gets a title shot and we all know a win over this guy is gonna get him real close.
Yeah, I noticed too that the punches that were landing on Gouveia didn’t seem heavy enough. But his striking style impressed me nonetheless. He just nees to add more power!!
this should be a great fight!
This fight disappoints me. Hopefully Leites gets his knocked off.
This is a solid fight but i see Reljic taking this by TKO in the 2nd. And if he’s fighting at 185 he’s going to be a GIGANTIC 185er.
