Why Mania? Why?

I watched the A&E Biography on Randy Couture… it was average at best, no film from the UFC (they own the rights) which was subsituted for news paper headlines, weigh-in films, photos and some semi-creative stuff.

Also, they kept saying Couture had difficulty transition back to ‘freestyle’ wrestling while at Oklahoma… it’s not freestyle in collegiate wrestling… it’s ‘folkstyle’… I’m sure most biography professionals or people don’t give a shit… but I laugh that these things aren’t corrected by someone before it’s aired.

I can’t believe they didn’t add Couture and the UFC, dana white beef… that is so relevant to where he is now… they didn’t even mention it!

Randy Coture shows that he will go anywhere to pursue the fight with Fedor, even 3000 BC Egypt.

“Roger Huerta’s a guy who’s been reading the headlines a little too much. You get out there and promote the guy and he’s like, “Look at all the papers I’m in, look at all the promotion I’m getting, I want a lot more money.’ Well he hasn’t fought anybody to get the money yet. He beats Kenny Florian, that’s a whole different ballgame.”

“Roger Huerta has contract problems? What’s his contract problem? He signed a contract, he’s under contract, when his contract is up he’ll renegotiate a new one. …What he was bitching about was doing PR. In his thing he said, ‘They got me out there doing PR.’ Yeah, moron. How do you think you make money? You don’t make money unless people know who you are and want to see you fight. Am I supposed to pay Roger Huerta to go out and do PR? Is that how it works?”

“That’s not how it works. When Oscar De La Hoya fights, he’s on Leno and Letterman. The night before his fight, he weighs in in Las Vegas, and then flies to Los Angeles to do PR for the fight. Because he makes more money. Because he becomes more popular and more people want to see him fight. …What happens is these guys turn into pussies, is what happens.”

JV I too am a fan of Huerta’s but I want him to lose. I think Florian can bring him back down to the realm of realistic. How can you think you deserve more money than a top 5 P4P champ? I would just hate to see Huerta go to any other org (even if he is getting paid more) and fight a bunch of cans. The only org I can think of where he would get a challenge is at DREAM which I believe he would be throughly stomped. What he forgets is that not all the top talent is in the UFC, Penn, Sherk and Florian is as good as it gets your missing Aoki, Gomi, JZ, Joachim, and Caol (don’t diss Caol you’ll be done the guy is a legend). Personally I think he is going to have his hands full with Florian as it is, all these other legends would embarrass him or Florian (IMO).

JOHN, you really need to start including at the begining of such posts

Statement made by Dane White –

“djhadlhgda;lg hdalk gdlfoai; adod dh od iodf dslagalds; hdsladsfs ”

In reading that, there is NO way to tell that that is a quote from Dana.

Pretty soon you’re going to have some of your haters claiming that none of your posts are original and you just copy / paste stuff from other sites. I already seen a couple of your haters make such claims…

Sometimes I dont cite the sources because when I mention Other sites, I tend to get moderated!

Its no secret, I check the usual sites. I definetloy dont make them up. I do have a guy that gives me accurate inside info, but only about 1 every 6 months and its never anything major. Here are the lists of my the sites I check so if you dont believe me when I post it, you can feel free to check for yourself! I definitely dont make this stuff up!

Sites I usually check are:
mmaweekly
mmajunkie
Fightline
Fiveouncesofpain
Cagepotato
tatame
Dreamfighters

But I only do my BLogging on MMAmania, BEST SITE ON THE NET!!!

VM: U think I didnt try to copy and past a more complete article? I did that and tried to post it a million times but mania wouldnt post it. I was in a rush and I wanted to get it up gere so I then tried to post as little as I could and still get the message across and I just posted the “meat and potato’s” and mania finally posted it. I totally forgot that I didnt write who was saying it. When I was able to come back on the site I was laughing my ass off that everyone thought thats was me ranting about HUerta.

I cant really worry about the haters. Getting used to it. dont really mind!

I did just copy and paste it, what are you talking about?
That was word to word from an article. It was Dana white ranting. I didnt right any of that!

I agree that Randy will never fight again. The UFC will keep him tied up in court long enough to guarantee that he will be too old and out of shape to compete. I wonder what could have been if Randy had honored his commitment to the UFC. Would he have beaten Nog? And if so, would he have left the UFC in honor and already have fought Fedor? I think Fedor would have won, but I would not have predicted that Randy would beat Tim Sylvia, so who knows.

2008-08-07 14:43:29

Good point Dr. His greed ruined is reputation as a fan favorite (everyone loved Captain America!), could possibly have cost him the remainder of his career, and it might have ultimately cost him what he wanted most, a shot at Fedor. If he only would have fought that last fight (or two?).

Comment by Cogito Ergo Sum
2008-08-07 14:52:27

He had two fights left, but I would like to point out Dr.Pepper that if he had honered his contract he would have faced Nog followed by Arlovski more than likely which are two guys I don’t think Randy could beat. He was also offered a fight with Fedor on Bodog before the UFC tried to bring him back out of retirement and he choose the UFC over Fedor (Sylvia was the easier fight).

he may have, or he may not have went on to beat nog or a.a. the biggest thing is that they were both very credible opponents and randy’s arguement that there is no one left to fight besides fedor was ludacris. so were most of his other arguments on why he QUIT his job.

2008-08-07 20:17:38

Couture would’ve beat the hell out of Nog, Nog would have to get a lucky submission (which of course he’s always capable of).

Couture would have had more trouble with Arlovski’s quick hands.. but I definitely think Couture could whether the storm and mentally break AA.

You cant blame the guy for expanding. Im sure he knew before he started the film that it would suck and people would think his acting sucked. I would think the same thing if I was in his shoes.. and I would have took the payday too. Its all money.

Saying he wont be back to the cage… he’ll be back eventually. Maybe not the octagon but he will have one last war before he retires. Hes the old lion, its in his blood.

I think Randy should swallow his pride and fufill his contract that he signed. I think people..the fans, media would be able to forget about this and still cheer randy on and his legend would continue. If the fight is so important..then randy should show example that it isnt about the money and let the UFC and Fedor renegotiate without a hitch. Im pretty sure Dana would still pursue Fedor and do whatever he could to make that fight possible and if not…so what.
