AS much as I like Herring, Brock may be on to something. Herring lost all his biggest fights except for the Kongo fight. THis fight really interest me. I want to know if Brock can take a punch. Herring is the perfect guy to find out!

If Herring fold under pressure, then this fight is a lock for Lesnar to win. I dont think theres a HW who will pressure as much as Lesnar? And Ive also been saying for a while that it would suck if Lesnar had no chin!

I don’t see Herring foldin’ under pressure. He’s fought the best in the business. Brock really wouldn’t be somethin’ new for him. The question really here is that if Brock has new tricks in the bag so as to confuse Herring…You know what I mean? Like HErring has already saw almost everythin’ from fighters. From cans to the top of the foodchain, this guy has seen it all. the thing is, he hasn’t seen anythin’ like Brock so far IMO…

Brock wont have any tools that could surprise Herring. THe questions are:
can Brock Control and POund out Herring on sheer FOrce, and Brute Strength? Will Hearing be able to deal with his combination of size and athleticism?
Can Brock’s chin hold up? Unless Brock immediately shoots (which he probably will like the Mir fight), Herring has pretty good stand up and I would actually like to see Brock’s chin tested by a Herring Punch or a knee.
If THe fight drags on, What kind of Cardio does Brock have?
These are all questions that sooner or later will need to be answered about Lesnar. Hopefully this fight can shed some light on a few questions.

Well I guess the only thing that could surprise Herring at this point is Brock’s sheer strength and agility for a guy his size. That sums up the contents of Brock’s tricks in the bag I think, hehe!!

John, Lenar shot righ in on Mir at the start of the fight. Then after the BS back of the head call, 3 consecutive hammer fists with no warnings does not constitute a standup and point deduction, and they got stood back up, Brock dropped Mir with a straight right.
Call me crazy, but I think that the heavier, a little out of shape Heath Herring would have a better chance than the new slimmed down version.

I see the same sort of thing happening here, with Lesnar taking Herring down and finding that Herring is a lot more experienced than he thinks. The eventually get back up and throw some bombs but IMO Lesnars sheer athleticism will get into Herrings head if he can’t push the pace before Lesnar does. I like Herring based on KO Kiss but as it has been stated he had his chance against the best and flopped, its time for some new blood. John I replied to your post in the Couture thread

Negation and john, it shouldn’t be a surprise to Herring at all, as Lesnar’s main weapons that anyone knows of are his size, strength and quickness. Although, it might be one thing to see a tape of it, it could be something else entirely to have it coming at you in person! I know this is supposed to be a “new” Crazy Horse, but it better be light years ahead of the old model. I just can’t see him enforcing his will on Lesnar, who I think will win via TKO late first round.

the thing that sticks out the most is that herring says that he has faced bigger, stronger, better wrestlers than brock. who? maybee bigger girth wise in pride, fedor is probably a better mma wrestler than brock is now, but stronger, no way heath has faced a strong a wrestler as brock. i think obrien may be the best colligate wrestler heath has faced, and look how that turned out. heath has improved his cardio and conditioning alot but i dont see this fight lasting long. i see heath coming out with the high leg kick quick, trying to test brocks chin and try some hard leg kicks as well. brock will catch one of these kicks and put heath on his back and he wont get up. heath is crafty, but sometimes size does matter.

B.W. I agree here, its like this is what Herring will be saying after the fight.
“I’ve faced one guy who was bigger than Brock. Then I faced another guy who was as strong as him. Then I faced another guy who was as fast and explosive as him. And I faced a wrestler that was better than him. Turns out when you put that stuff into one guy its something I’ve never faced before…”
I like Herring in this fight big time. Mir shouldn’t even be in the top 15 of heavyweights! I will say it again just like Kimbo you can’t learn the biomechanics of a new sport as challenging as MMA in your 30’s…Brock seems to have a good personality and is a nice guy but he has done nothing to let me know he can win against the crazy horse. I could be wrong though…..anything could happen…..

KEYS to Victory:
Brock:
-Avoid standing up with Herring as much as possible. Take him down right away!
-Once Brock gets the takedown its crucial that Brock controls Herring from rolling out of bad positions. Herring is a master at rolling out of positions on the ground and creating scrambles. If Brock doesnt control him, in a scramble, Herring could catch Brock in a bad position and slap on a submission.
-Stay Under control! He gets his adrenaline pumping and just goes Bezerk as soon as the fight starts, which is cool but he has to stay under control while trying to pound out Herring so that he doesnt punch himself out or leave a leg or arm out there for Herring to catch a submission on!
Herring:
-KEEP THE FIGHT STANDING! If he just gets taken down at will, it will be a very long, or should I say short night for Herring. No one has seen Brock’s chin, so Herring has to try and test it. His confidence will grown and Brocks will diminish every second that the fight remains standing.
-come in with the same conditioning that he had in the Kongo fight. If he doesnt, he will have nO SHOT whatsoever!
-He BETTER HAVE improved takedown defense. Kongo is anything but a good wrestler and Cheik was taking him down at will. I know that Heath wasnt anticipating takedowns in that fight but through out his career, Heath has never shown good take down defense. That has to change if he wants to have any chance at winning this fight. His best chance of winning is to come into the with in great shape and drag the fight out as long as possible, since Brock hasnt fought more then 10 minutes through out his entire mma career.
-Create scrambles by rolling out of bad positions on the ground. He needs to create scrambles to get brock in a bad position and capitalize by catching him in a submission or standing back up. If he could some how sweep Brock and put him on his back, Brock may be like a fish out of water, but I wou7ldnt count on that scenario.
My only comment regarding learning the biomechanics of this sport for Lesnar (compared to Kimbo) is that Lesnar has a very solid collegiate wrestling background, where Kimbo has street fights.
Keeping that in mind I believe Lesnar is ahead of the curve compared to other mma fighters with 3 pro bouts who have no background in one of the martial arts.
seriously. This guy is massive, he has the most potential in the UFC. He moves like a WW yet is 265 pounds.
He will hold the belt within 1-2 years if he can just learn some solid submission defense. Looks like the dude trains hard, he knows how to win, and has proper psychology.
This guy is a competitor and just needs to learn this discipline of MMA and he will hold the belt for a lot of title defenses.
Solid submission defense may be a good idea for Brock but I think Lesnars sheer skill and size will intimidate people into not wanting to take him to the mat. If he wants to win he’ll want to learn stand up. This is one thing that I think Lesnar might be a little worried about, with his massive size his reach might be a little limited so to learn proper striking would probably suit him best instead of trying to be a brawler on the feet. All I can say for Herring and any other HW facing Brock is learn the Sprawl and Whizzer techniques because your going to want them in your arsenal against a wrestler with the explosive-ness of Brock.
From all apperances, Lesnar has the athletisism, skills, work ethic and attitude to excel at MMA. I have to say that I like his relative humility as well. I never watch pro wrestling, but he’s definately not what I would have expected.
Herring wins 3rd round TKO. I’m not a Brock hater but he needs more fights before fighting a fighter with the experience of Herring.
Rashad boring ud victory over Chuck.
You lost me when you said that Rashad beats Chuck. Anyway, I think if Brock can put on the pressure early, Herring will be in a world of trouble. If the fight is a long one for some reason, I think it leads more towards Heath.
I have seen a lot of Herring’s fights and I have never been impressed with him. I have always thought he has trouble when being pressured. He backs up way too much and that makes it really hard to land a finishing punch. He really needs to become a better finisher. His best areas are that he has a really good scramble on the ground and a good high left kick.
When Brock takes it to the ground, I personally feel that Herring is going to be in a world of hurt. I see no way that he will be able to handle Brock at that point. His chin hasn’t been tested, but I have a feeling that it isn’t soft. He has no neck. That has to help some. haha.
Anyways, I totally disagree with you on that. We will just have to wait and see.
Now, I am totally baffled that you actually think that Evans will beat Chucky with a decision after a boring fight. I cant even think of one fight of Chucky’s that was boring. I personally don’t like Evans at all. I have always thought he was a mediocre fighter. He doesnt really have any dominating skills. His standup is ok, ground is lazy, and his submissions are, well, just whatever.
Chucky by KTFO. Wont be surprised if it is the first round.
I don’t think Herring is any sloutch, but I don’t think he’s got what it takes to handle a monster like Lesnar. Unless he can take it deep (who know’s what Lesnar’s cardio is like?), I don’t think he has much of a chance.
Maybe too early to talk about Lidell/Evans, but I think Chuck will own Rashad. Rashad is over rated.
Heath sure has kahones for taking this fight. There may not be anyone in MMA right now as powerful as Lesnar. His punches with those massive fists are devastating. Frank Mir withstood the punishment long enough to get a submission win. The question is, will Heath be able to do the same? Like Mir, Herring certainly has the MMA skills and experience to defeat Lesnar, but I think Brock is against a wall, has been training like an animal and will defeat Herring by a viscious knockout.
Heath sees him as inexperienced. I don’t think he is all that worried about Brock. I think it will be an upset if Brock wins. I would lean towards Brock if it was the old Heath Herring, but being as he has upped his game, I am not all that sure who will win. Best of luck to Brock because he needs this win and he is exciting to watch.
I think Heath has up his game also, but come on now, he got owned ( Jake O’Brian) not that long ago by a MUCH smaller and NOWHERE near as good of a wrestler as Brock. Did Jake even throw a punch in that fight? I think it’s fair to say, Brock is a more dangerous striker than Jake also. Heath cracks under presser and Brock will bring it early. Heath looked good against Kongo, but Kongo wasn’t pressuring him. Maybe Heath improved his game a ton in wrestling defence, but I just can’t see it being enough for a monster like Lesnar.

I hope your right. I could see it going either way but I definitely rooting for Lesnar.
I wonder about his chin too, but he said he’s not afraid of getting hit. The only way I see Heath being able to win this fight is landing a huge shot right on the button or landing a big left kick right on the button. If he isn’t able to do that, I don’t think there is anyway he is going to be able to stop Brock from taking him down and getting a GNP victory.
Brock could always lose via submission. Herring has submitted opponents before and even if he hadn’t, he would still have much more experience with it than Brock Lesnar does.

The only way to submit Lesnar is the way Mir did — with an ankle lock or knee lock. He has no neck to get an arm around, and his arms and shoulders are just too massive. There are maybe 5 HWs in the world who could have pulled off the sub that Mir did.
anyone who refers to themselves in the third person or refers to themselves as “we” is crazy in my book. i can’t bring myself to actually do that.” rob is gonna do some damage like you never seen, be aware of the wrath of rob”. sounds silly but i’d do it for shot cash.
Put perfect, I wonder what will happen when Brock gets hit. The man has a head as big as a grizzly bear and probably just as thick, so I am thinking he can take a punch. Who knows though until the real thing and its going to happen Saturday night.
I see Brock shooting early, getting the take down and punishing Herring until the ref stops it.
With all the hype surrounding this fighter, his chin could be glass[ex:Houston ALexander, far comparison though in relation to size and what not]…Well anyway, I really doubt it because a chin from a monstrous bein’ like Brock seems malleable!!!
I feel bad for Brock. He is up against tremendous odds to be fighting anyone in the UFC. This is the top UFC heavyweights that he is being fed. He may be a beastly fighter, but he is still a rookie and you can tell that his loss to Frank Mir bothers him. I hope he pulls out a victory. He has plenty of potential. This is the right sport for him win or lose.
Even crazier is that Brock is “up against tremendous odds to be fighting anyone in the UFC. This is the top UFC heavyweights that he is being fed.”
I agree that the odds are against him, yet Vegas sees him as more than a 2 and a half to 1 favorite to win. I wish that MMAplayground would offer the option to bet real money with the odds that they have posted. They are always waaaay different than the real lines. For example, Brock is like -105 compared to the actual -260 he is right now.
Is anyone else having trouble getting to BetUs.com right now?
I’m sure that he has worked on his takedown defense since then, but your right, it would be hard to block Brocks take downs. Lets face it, he’s a beast and a great wrestler. He isn’t unstoppable but I don’t think Heath Herring will be the guy to stop his takedowns. I think Heath knows this and I would bet anything that he will try to knock Brock out with a knee when he shoots in.
I agree that he will find his way to the title. Frank Mir really had his hands full yes it ended quick but it could have very easily went the other way if he just pushed off of Frank. He is a frigin HOUSE.
WOW. what a hypocrite. heath beat cheick kongo. lensar tapped out on mirs ass like a bitch in your insanely overhyped ufc debut. who fails under pressure?
I don’t think pressure had anything to do with it. It was about his inexperience. If pressure had anything to do with it, he wouldn’t have been able to launch such an insane attack om Frank Mir.
john, in response to our football conversation, I tried to mentally picture a stadium full of quiet, respectful, “golf clapping) Japanese fans at a football game. Got a HUGE laugh! Can you picture a big play and being able to hear a pin drop? LMAO
If he can stick to a good plan this fight is his to lose. I just don’t see Herring stopping the takedowns, and I don’t see him sweeping Brock when it happens. I’d love to see a good battle though. I’d love to see Herring win.
Brock should be fighting weaker fighters. He will probably lose on sat. He has alot of potential but very little experience and he is facing very experienced fighters. Bad matchmaking I say. Dont feed him cans like Kimbo but dont throw him in right away with guys that have been fighting at high levels for years. Thats just stupid bro.
Well in the long run, this will be good for Brock, win or lose. The experience itself is valuable. And an individual in sports won’t become the best until he plays with the best. Though Herring ain’t the best in the division obviously. But the point is that Heath is not getting any freebies from the UFC and that’s what he really wants.
Why does MMA Mania rearrange the posts and put people who posted this morning higher on the list than people who posted last night? I like to read posts before bed and the next morning, but I end up having to re-read posts since they are re-arranged.
Heath Herring by face to the fists until Brocks hands hurt!!!! But seriously this fight is going to be sweet and I can’t wait to see it.

Then this will be a battle of 2 crazies then. But my prediction here is that only one crazy would win, and I believe it won’t be the “Krazy Hoarse”.
You heard it boys! He don’t care ’bout Frank Murr.
HAHHAHAHAHAH Priceless
I thought he learned how to pronounce it correctly but no… still on the whole Frankensense and Murr thing.
its a midwest accent thing. you wouldn’t understand.
Right from Brock’s mouth. ” I don’t give a f**k[censored] about Frank Mir”. Another classic line from the UFC! There you have it!!
Lesnar via GnP. Herring has no takedown defense. Watch the O’Brian fight and tell me how he is going to stop Lesnar?
I’m sure that he has worked on his takedown defense since then, but your right, it would be hard to block Brocks take downs. Lets face it, he’s a beast and a great wrestler. He isn’t unstoppable but I don’t think Heath Herring will be the guy to stop his takedowns. I think Heath knows this and I would bet anything that he will try to knock Brock out with a knee when he shoots in.
Knees to the face.
“Fails Under Pressure”
He said the same thing about Frank Mir
I think there’s a good chance he’ll say the same thing about his next opponent
Yeah I noticed that he said that both times too. He might be right though.
i have a feeling this animal BROCK LESNER is gonna be he the next champ…….lesner vs. big nog
I agree that he will find his way to the title. Frank Mir really had his hands full yes it ended quick but it could have very easily went the other way if he just pushed off of Frank. He is a frigin HOUSE.
maybe heath does buckle… but from what i’ve seen so does brock
WOW. what a hypocrite. heath beat cheick kongo. lensar tapped out on mirs ass like a bitch in your insanely overhyped ufc debut. who fails under pressure?
I don’t think pressure had anything to do with it. It was about his inexperience. If pressure had anything to do with it, he wouldn’t have been able to launch such an insane attack om Frank Mir.
Yep, right Ryan. Brock was still green back then like the Incredible Hulk. Now hopefully, he’s the “Gray Hulk”.
i didnt like the grey hulk (joe fixit). he was smarter, but not nearly as strong. im wierd!
bw-
I liked Mr. Fixit, he was deviously smart. Brain and brawns.
john, in response to our football conversation, I tried to mentally picture a stadium full of quiet, respectful, “golf clapping) Japanese fans at a football game. Got a HUGE laugh! Can you picture a big play and being able to hear a pin drop? LMAO
LOL, I know Chef, I was thinking about it yesterday and it would be really really weird. Almost like something is wrong! lol
Its what he wanted so thats what he got!
Well in the long run, this will be good for Brock, win or lose. The experience itself is valuable. And an individual in sports won’t become the best until he plays with the best. Though Herring ain’t the best in the division obviously. But the point is that Heath is not getting any freebies from the UFC and that’s what he really wants.
kick his ass heath!!! fake fighters here and there stay with your stupid fake wrestlinging
…and Brock Lesnar fails when it comes to pure MMA experience.
Brock Lesnar fails when it comes to interviews. What a dickwad…
He seems like a nice guy but hopefully Heath’s experience will prevail.
Brock Lesnar fails at talking.
Brock Lesnar failed under pressure against Mir.
What the fruck is he talking about?

Why does MMA Mania rearrange the posts and put people who posted this morning higher on the list than people who posted last night? I like to read posts before bed and the next morning, but I end up having to re-read posts since they are re-arranged.
the last 8 people who commented should be put down by the the ones that birthed them.
Heath ko him please
