elitexc tickets
Elite XC today made its plans official for an event at “The Pit” at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., on September 20. Tickets for the show went on sale today.

“The Pit” seats more than 18,000 fans, which makes this a rather ambitious decision for Elite XC, considering the promotion was only able to sling 3,701 tickets out of a possible 8,541 at last month’s “Unfinished Business” event in Stockton, Calif.

Albuquerque is home to Greg Jackson’s camp (Jackson’s Submission Fighting), which includes Elite XC middleweight contender Joey Villasenor (26-6), who incidentally is rumored to be a part of the main event for this card. In fact, there have been some reports recently suggesting the main event will be a rematch between Villasenor and Brazilian Murilo “Ninja” Rua (16-8-1) in a possible number one contender match for a shot at division champ, Robbie Lawler.

That match up, however, doesn’t appear likely. Not on September 20, anyway.

The rumor mill also has Cage Rage Welterweight Champion Paul “Semtex” Daley (18-6-2) making his return to the United States on September 20 for this show. He is coming off a brief hiatus from the sport for personal reasons and hasn’t fought for Elite XC since a January 25 knockout of Sam Morgan on Showtime.

Undefeated heavyweight Dave “Pee Wee” Herman (11-0) is being talked about for the event as well, but no possible opponents have been named at this time.

With events now scheduled for August 15, September 20 and October 4, Elite XC is looking at a very important next couple of months as far as the future of the organization goes. Ticket sales and television ratings need to go up. Can Elite XC deliver?

I have no idea how they plan to sell that place out…especially without their 2 big draws – Kimbo & Gina.

Oh wow Semtex would walk straight through Villasenor, then through Lawler….Unless he signs for the UFC before then.

EliteXC news:

Chris Cyborg will compete at the October 4th event but instead of fighting Gina “THe Sex Goddess” Carano, she will face some Japanese chic.

Gina will face Kelly Kobald on the same card!

Looks like EliteXC wants to showcase both woman on the same card to build interest for a mega fight between the two Ladies on a future CBS card!

Joey Villasenor and Ninja in a main event? Pickins’ are definitely slim in Elite XC. And still no opponent for Kimbo for the event after that? What are they gonna do, give the guy 2 weeks notice? Elite is getting weaker and more rediculous every event.

Rogers took Kimbos manhood. I will be very suprised if they give Rogers the fight! Kimbo should pull out his tail from between his legs and fight Rogers!

It’s cool to see MMA get away from Nevada & California once in a while these days.

Right! I’m not a big elite xc fan but albq is only 3 1/2 hour drive and I might go just to see some MMA. This really would have been better at one of the casinos though. Route 66 casino had an MMA even there, I think it was KOTC. Its also a good excuse just to go to play some poker in Albq.

I live in albuquerque so I’ll probably go just to see if it’s any better than the rage in the cage that was put on last weekend. We have three malls and an outdoor mall kama kaze. We also have a minor league baseball team. We’re practically a real city. Without us, where would they film COPS?

lol. a friend moved out there and she said she had to drive really far to get to the mall. no offense to your hometown, i’m just thinking there are higher density population citys. how was the turnout at rage in the cage?

2008-08-06 15:55:58

Not great and the event announcing was terrible. Edwin Dewees and Diego Sanchez showed up. There were seriously like 30 fights. There were maybe 3 decent fights out of all of them. Drew Ficket was stopped. it was in Rio Rancho. ABQ is the largest city and Rio Rancho is second. It’s just North of here and ABQ and Rio Rancho have grown into one larger city.

Don’t buy your tickets in advance because they will end up paying people to go the show just so they don’t have to show a bunch of empty seats on TV.

30 fights. wow. sounds not too bad. at least your city has live events. i live in the seattle area now and the only events here are in 1 casino. can’t even find a list of fighters on the card anywhere.

2008-08-06 16:18:09

Yeah, Albuquerque has a lot of fight fans and I think some of the organizations are realizing it. It’s largely due to having a lot of hometown favorites coming out of Jackson’s. Even when I go to a bar to watch a UFC here, it’s always packed with fairly knowlegable people. I hope we can get a big event at some point.

Wasn’t there a WEC card there recently?

2008-08-06 20:00:10

yeah, in January there was a great card that I was out of town for. I almost forgot about that because I was gone December-January. I suppose I should say I hope we get another big even sometime soon.

I like Albq. No casinos in El Paso so once in a while I like to drive up there and play some cards. They also have headshops still!

A good matchup for Pee Wee would be Sergey Kharitonov who was rumoured ro be fighting last week but Eilers filled in for him. Either way bagging Kharitonov would be a seriously good catch for Elite XC. If he beats Pee Wee which I think he would but a decent matchup for him he could then get a shot at Bigfoot for the title.

I miss my boy sergey, and he deserves a bit of spotlight again.

Dana white talks Rampage:

“It wasn’t psychiatric at all, it was physical,” said White. “He had a physical condition — exhaustion, dehydration that caused delirium.”

White said Jackson, a California native, had remained in Las Vegas for a week after the fight and was fasting — living on energy drinks alone.

“Bad combination,” said White. “Physically and mentally he’s OK. Now he’s got some legal problems, obviously.”

John, are you going to school for journalism? You should start your own blog. link it from here. I’m not bitching at you for hijacking. I just think with all the stuff you look up, it wouldn’t take that much additioanl effort to have your own site.

NO, I am a marketing student who’s sole purpose for going to school is to land a marketing job with the UFC. so I can market mismatch fights into credible ones, like the UFC does!

I’m an engineer and former novice MMA fighter. I did Military R&D Space Systems and Ballistic Missile Intelligence. It’s all very practical. I wish I would have thought of a way to make money with my hobby. I hope it works out for you.
