I would say randy is considered one of the ‘greatest’ fighters of all time. Regardless of his lack of title defenses and somewhat lack luster heavyweight division.
What makes him legendary is his age and winning a title in 2 weight classes along with 5 championship titles in a span of 10 years.
GSP won his 1st belt in 2006, who knows whats going to happen 10 years from then, but imagine if he won another belt in 2016?

I’m going to blame it all on the wife. I’m thinking a whole lot of “baby, why don’t you get paid more. You shouldn’t take that from Dana. You’re your own man. Sometimes you have to fight outside the ring.” and lot more of that type of stuff. anyhow, when fedor became heavyweight champion, randy had already lost to Barnett and Ricco, and then moved down to light heavy and beat Chuck and Tito, so there wasn’t any tension there, he’s just a fan of mma in general and has always liked what he saw from Fedor

Last I checked Couture never lost the Heavyweight Championship and never formally vacated it. UFC insists he is still under contract for 2 more fights and White has reiterated over and over that “UFC president Dana White said Thursday Oct. 18 and 25th 2007 that Couture remains the promotion’s heavyweight champion despite his announced plans to quit. The fact that UFC has dreamed up this ‘interim’ championship and adorned Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira with the belt after beating (laugh) Tim Sylvia and prior to that Heath Herring, adds very little legitimacy to that. So as far as I’m concerned Couture is UFC Heavyweight champion. Therefore, to your comment ‘he can beat us bloggers to a pulp but not the current UFC Champion’ I ask you “Why the fuck would he beat himself up”.

For the guy who made a stupid statment in the first place I’d have to say congrats on making another one. Nog has already faced Fedor and shown his stuff and if you want to take away from his win over Sylvia I would say the same can be said for Randys as well. Sylvia has won how many of his last 4 fights? Also Gonzaga is very over rated IMO so this does not help me to solidify Randy’s place as the number one HW. Maybe if he were the one to beat Cro Cop, Arlovski, Mir, Nog… any guy who deserved to face Randy more than Gonzaga. Anyway Randy being a paper champ does not make him champ. The UFC may state this but that is because they are leaving the door open for Randy. Randy would lose to Nog, Fedor, and Arlovski. Who has he beaten that would tell you otherwise?

At the rate the justice system moves, the lawsuit from Zuffa is going kill whats left of his life span as a fighter. Plus we all know that Zuffa has deep pockets to keep fuelling those legal costs to keep his fighting future on hold.
Seriously, I just don’t see in fighting anyone at all for such a long time. Nobody cares anymore. I feel like I’m never going to see him a meaningful fight again really. What are the odds we’re going to see him vs. Fedor before he’s 46? I really think the UFC will be willing to make the Fedor fight happen within the organization. If he means it to be his last fight in anyway just do it in the octagon and call it a day.

There are some things I’m curious about regarding Couture. I’d certainly watch this biography, but it’s likely to gloss over the recent events, about which we really don’t need to hear any more.
As a HUGE Randy Couture supporter and fan I guess I am in the minority here and I could care less because randy is the most decorated champion in history and he will always sell out arenas and pull huge PPV #’s.
Im really looking foward to this show im pissed though because the UFC refused to let A&E use fight footage which is BS. Those are his fights his accomplishments and they should be able to show at least clips.

Other fighters praise him because he is a great fighter and a swell guy to be friends with. However he is not the greatest HW in the world. This UFC fiasco is only good for the other fighters because they may get a pay raise out of it. But he has hurt the UFC HW division and many of his own fans with these antics and thats why on the blogs you see people mad and on the screen you see them screaming. We see the Randy news on Mania and its like a slap in the face the things he says. Its like he thinks we are dumb and will support him with everything he says. Everyone keeps refering to his past like if a guy had once loaned me $50 bucks but just spit in my face I should be grateful damn.

If that’s the case, you’ll probably only see 10 comments per thread if you have it your way. go to cagepotato or 5 ounces of pain (sites that I actually visit often), you’ll get your 10 comments per thread, this way you don’t have to read any ideas that may sound too repetitive… Truth of the matter is that we like to communicate between ourselves here, we post an idea and if someone agrees with it they’ll back it up, if they don’t they’ll address their opinion on the matter. So you have many ppl that posts in MMAMania, you’ll get a lot of comments, and many of those comments will have somewhat the same ideas in it… It’s quite easy to understand actually, I don’t get how you can’t see this. BTW, you’re trying to get someone to agree with you and back you up on this issue? wouldn’t that be… I don’t know… REPETITIVE?

Ive said it before and ill say it again The people posting negativity about randy are just upset because thier going thru Couture withdrawal they want to see him fight so bad they need him to fight its a little similar to a smoker waiting for his after lunch smoke fix. Please don’t comment on things you have no understanding of. No smokers start talking bad about their stash because their stash isn’t there. To say that I pail in comparision to a Randy fan is also something I don’t take lightly. I don’t care if I ever see Randy fight again. A friend gave him a hand after he had retired and he stabbed that friend in the back. He publicized his dispute with this guy and then lied to his own fans face about his salary. The guy also disrespected fighters like Mir, Nog, and AA by saying that Fedor was the only fighter worth fighting. I’m sorry buy seeing as how he only beat Sylvia and Gonzaga, I don’t think that leaves the floor open for him to lay his claim to the best HW fighter in the world. Sorry pal but Randy showed his true colors after he came back out of retirement and this is why so many people are upset with him. Also I’d like to take this point to say that if you asked even half the people who don’t like Randy now, they would all still say the respect him for helping the sport get to where it is now. The point is we have not forgot the past but that does not mean we have to like him now.

thirdly I know for a fact that sites like these published all the facts in October of 2007 nobody did randy a favor when he came out of retirement He was offered 3 million from bodog for one fight against fedor and he randy as a loyal fighter of the ufC who was fighting as a champion before zuffa ever bought the company went to dana and the fratitas and told them about the offer he received from Bodog so they didnt want to have thier biggest star do that so they offered him an immediate title shot against tim so who the hell did him a favor. To me it sounds like he did them a favor and he still had to go in there and fight tim who not many people thought he even stood a chance at his age.

It’s amazing how White has turned you into Randy haters, and all based on what, shitty interviews where White slings mud at Randy for retiring from the UFC as a Champion because he didn’t want to fight there anymore, because he wasn’t being paid like he felt he should, just like tito, and huerta, and starnes. Just like Fedor, who refused to sign with them. Just like various other fighters who want to be released or begged for their final fight, so they can go make decent money elsewhere. You all hate Randy because he thinks he deserves more. Here’s a reality check. Couture was the face of the UFC because of his talent, there was a time he was the best fighter in all of the UFC. Second Dana asked Randy to come out of retirement to fight for the HW belt.
