OK I changed my mind, Kenflo in the Second via big gapping hole to the head. (so hard that Maonte Cox can feel it!)

Huerta Split decision. Is it just me or is Ken-Flo looking a little small? I truely believe this can be a Fight of The Year Candidate.

Kenny has actually been adding muscle mass and getting bigger and looking better physically in each of his last few fights. However, Huerta will still be the larger fighter.

This fight is just soooooooo hard to pick a winner. I highly doubt that I will be placing money on this fight, unless I can somehow get Huerta at like +175. Last time I checked, I think he was +125. I will be intersting to see which way the odds move as the fight gets closer.

Not so sure about that ViolentMike. I think the fact that FLorian fought at MW just fine makes him the naturally larger LW to me. Do you think Huerta could fight at MW as healthyly as Florian did?

I agree with Ken-Flo, I think he is better in every aspect of the fight and think he will win. However that being said, Ken-Flo has never been to a decision and won so we will have to see.

Definately agree with you Open24hrz, I am expecting Fight of the Year.

The only decision he’s had in UFC is when Sherk made love to him for 5 rounds. All his other fights have ended in stoppage.

Ken-Flo went to distance with Drew Fickett in his last fight before going on TUF. Thats actually where Dana saw him - he went to check out Fickett but was really impressed with Kenny even in his loss apparently.

I think Kenny definately has the right game plan, but I have learned not to count Roger out. And I’m sure Greg Jackson has put a great game plan together for Roger as well. I’m just going to sit back and enjoy the ride. The energy should be insane at the Target center. I can’t wait. I’ll bring my laptop so I can post when I get back to my hotel after the fight.

I agree! It should instantly become a fight of the year candidate. I am starting to think that huerta will win as well but I will probably change my mind 10 times by the time the event actually takes place. As most of you know, I am a gambling man. In this fight, I will just let the odds dictate who I am going to bet. Huerta should be the dog, which probably means that my money will be on him, but I am not sure though. I havent even looked at the odds yet.

I like Kenny, but I am sick of seeing doctors stoppiing fights for him. I hate seeing fighters win by cuts and at times it seems like Kenny is trying to get the fight stopped by a cut and I HATE that!Kenny is always running his mouth about how he stops fight, but how many people has he finished with out the doctors help?

I think the improvement Huerta is going to show against Kenny will BLOW OUR MINDS! I feel that he will be so much better than he was against guida now that he has spent time training with Greg Jackson, and doing extensive training with GSP. Huetra has also been using GSP’s strength and conditioning coach which is really SCARY! Think about how much GSP improved physically in the past year since he started working with his strength coach? Huerta shoud come out like a completely different fighter! Kenny is in for a rude awakening. GSP and Huerta are the perfect training partners for each other because they have the ability to push each other athletically. Its really going to show in Huerta’s game.

Ways that each fighter can win:
Kenny’s Best chance at ending the fight is by a cut. thats a big part of his game. He doesnt throw elbows to try and KO his opponents, he throws them to cut his opponents and hope that the doctor stops it. I feel that this is his best chance of stopping the fight.
-Submissions: Kenny has amazing ju jitsu but I really dont think he will be able to submit HUerta. Huerta defended every submission that Alberto Crane through at him and Crane is a very skilled jitsu fighter. Huerta will also be physically stronger which should make his submission defense even better. Basically, i dont think either fighter wil win by submission.

KO: No way Kenny knocks out Huerta, thats just not going to happen. only way I see Kenny TKO’ing HUerta is by sweeping Roger when roger is on top, mounting him and dropping bows and elbows till the doctor stops it. Huerta can not let Kenny mount him because Kenny has an excellent mount. I also think that leg kicks will be a HUGE and crucial part of Kenny’s strategy because he HAS to SLOW Huerta down. I do think that Huerta has the ability to KO kenny. It wont be easy, but unlike Kenny I feel that Huerta can actually win by KO.
-Decision: I would have to think that HUerta would win if it goes to the judges because HUerta is very active and like Kenny said, he is a terminator who just keeps coming forward.
Not saying it would be a dominant decision. AS a matter of fact it my prediction right now is Huerta via split decision.

Its really a shame that this is only a 3rd round fight. I dont think 15 minutes wi do this match up justice. I think 25 minutes would be much more appropriate for us to find out who the better fighter really is and who deserves a shot at THE MAN, bj Penn!

My argument is tough to agree with because a lot of it is based on the fact that I think Huerta will be much improved, which is a statement I can not prove until we actually see the fight. I just think we are going to see a different Roger Huerta!

This is a great fight to analyze. I would like to hear your guys thoughts on the match up~!

To answer your question about Florian fights that ended via cut — the answer is two if you count the fight against Leben on TUF. That one was kind of lame because Leben was dominating the fight until Kill-Flo nailed him with that elbow and split his eyebrow. In Florian’s defense, he hit Leben with the forearm part of the elbow and not the pointy part. The other cut stoppage was against Karalexis when Florian about took his nose off, but Florian was clearly winning that fight anyway.

thats it? just 2? THe way he is always slicing people open, you would think that he has won more fights that way…He also beat Din tHomas because of a doctor stoppage, but that cause Din’s knee buckled.

John, in regards to Huerta stopping Crane’s submission attempts, it must also be said that Crane was 100% gassed after about 3 minutes and 20 seconds into that fight. He was in no condition to be fighting in the UFC, just like every other opponent Huerta faced other than Guida.

And also, I too have been saying for weeks now, and actually in this same thread, that this fight is too hard to pick a winner, so the odds are going to have to change rather drastically, meaning, I’d love Huerta at +175 but I REALLY doubt it will go that far. But if the odds go the other way, and I can get Florian at even odds, then I see that as a smart bet as well, considering he started at -150

The doctor didn’t stop that fight against Din. Kill-Flo jumped on him and pounded on him unti the ref stopped it. It wasn’t like British Prostitute immediately tapping when his shoulder went out against Nate Diaz.

Yeah, but dont try to tell me Din was out cause he wasnt. Anyway you spin it, Kenny Didnt win that fight, Din’s knee lost it.

VM: I agree that the odds will probably didctate my betting as well. I dont want to bet Kenny, cxause I feel like Huerta is going to come out and blow our minds, but like you said if I can get close to even money on Kenny, iw ould have to take it. I am very curious to see how the odds will sway by saturday. who knows, both have tons of fans. Smart money should be on Kenny, but I just think we are going to see a NEW Roger Huerta. Only way I think Kenny will win is if he really damages Huerta with some leg kicks and slows him down first. I have no proof, but I just have a feeling that Roger is going to be Insane!

Should be fun, to tough to call, so just ride the odds. Take the best odds you can ghet and dont worry about the fighter

great point about the Crane fight. I kinda forgot how gassed he was in that one.

It also should be pointed out that Crane clearly hadn’t adapted his BJJ to MMA, whereas Kenny’s is completely. Attempting a submission and attempting a submission while being hit are 2 different things. Crane can’t do both at the same time. And yeah - he was so gassed it was pathetic. Huerta was laughing and joking with his corner before the 2nd round and looked like he’d just spent 5 minutes playing video games. It really did seem like Roger was playing around with the guy and then before the 3rd round his corner told him to cut the s**t and just finish it already and that exactly what he did.

Yea I’m expecting the best Huerta I’ve ever seen to step into the ring, he’s been out 8 mnths training with some great camps. Could be leaps and bounds ahead of where he was vs Guida. And he should be as close to injury free as a fighter could possibly get.

In Roger’s Vid he talks about getting his shot at the tittle. But with only one fight left on his contract and the shit talking about leaving for biger paydays, I don’t think Dana would give it to him.

I say if he can get passed Florian, then he can fight Sherk on his last fight, then sign a new contract going into a Title fight…But I think Kenflo will win.

I honestly think Dana likes Roger a lot. Roger is his kind of fighter. And Dana understands that everyone always want more money. I’m not sure how much damage Roger did, especially because the author of the article himself said that in the context of the interview his statements are not nearly as inflammatory as they seem out of context. What they chose to release to the media will sell their magazine and that’s the point. I think it’ll be evident what Dana’s feelings are after we see the press conference.

i’d say the only thing Kenny’s got on Roger skillwise is his kicks.. wrestling goes to Roger, boxing and punching power goes to Roger physical conditioning goes to Roger and his submission defense is awesome too.. but the important part is that Kenny’s very smart and if Roger gives him a finger Kenny will take the whole arm!

Kenny’s GnP is just more brutal over all, he’s relentless, and his stand up looks great too.

I agree with you 100% Huerta brings the same kind of game Joe did but the difference is that they won’t be fighting at mile high country. FLO by tko stoppage in the 2cnd or 3rd.
