McFedries Massenzio
Drew McFedries (7-3) has been tapped to introduce talented newcomer Mike Massenzio (10-2) to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 15 at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., on September 17, according to FiveOuncesOfPain.com.

“Massacre” is coming off a very impressive first round technical knockout win over Marvin Eastman at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 Finale back in June — an effort that earned him “Knockout of the Night” honors and a $20,000 bonus for just 68 seconds worth of work.

The hard-hitting Miletich Fighting Systems (MFS) product has yet to string together consecutive wins under the UFC banner … something he will look to change his next time out.

Massenzio is two-time high school state wrestling and a national junior college champion from Bergen Community College out of Paramus, N.J. He is just the latest fighter from the now defunct International Fight League (IFL) to switch sweaters, signing a four-fight contract with the UFC.

He was considered a threat to challenge for the IFL middleweight title before losing to Danillo Villefort via first round submission (kneebar) in his debut for the promotion back in May 2008.

Massacre? well kind of backwards nick name if you ask me..hes cool. but cmon!?! lol cote and kampmann put a massacre on him…mcfedries has too many other tool he chooses not to use or ever improve on…it been about how many fights now in the ufc? 5 fights now and he has not improved significantly. hell probably knock massenzio out and joe rogan will say this guys is as serious contender!

In all fairness to drew, his last loss came when he was dealing with the murder of his mother but I get what u r saying. He is just too talented standing to not improve on the ground game.

In other UFN 15 news, Dean Lister hurt his knee so his fight against THales Leites has been scratched.

Affliction Rumors:
I dont know how true this is but i hear Fedor has a messed up hand and may not fight Arlovski at Affliction 2. if this turns out to be true, Arlovski will fight Barnett instead. Lets hope this is just a rumor and Fedor will still fight the belarussian

WTF!! Thats a devastating thing to deal with, your mother being murdered OMG :( I didn’t know that.

On a lighter note John, you’ll be happy your boy isn’t fighting Lister now lol

And Fedor did damage his hand, it was in the Affliction injuries thread was it not? He did crack Big Tim with a few hard shots

THIS POST SHOULD HAVE BEEN PUT HERE FIRST AND NOT BELOW ;)

Mike Massenzio was from the IFL? Then why hasnt the UFC tried to get Chris Horodecki and Bart Palaszewski?

They should throw them in the WEC at least. Thier 155 or WW div’s aren’t really stacked.

Automation: U r damn right I am happy my boy tHales doesnt have to waste his time on Lister. My only concern is that the match up may be postponed instead of scratched all together. HOpefully, Leites just fights someone else. Yesterday, BNF suggested that they have Almeida step in to fight Leites…That is a fight I would love to see.

As for Fedor, he had a bad thumb going into the Sylvia fight and it didnt seem to bother him at all. lol
Hopefully Fedor stays on the card and fights Arlovski, but if not arlovski vs. Barnett isnt a bad consolation prize at all because its a fight I have always wanted to see but I of course I would prefer Fedor staying on the card.

I agree about his performances when his mom dies, but the only reason he gets fights in the UFC is because he has ties to Hughes and Militech. In my opinion he is B level at best.

only problem with DRew is he lacks a ground game. I dont think he is 30 years old yet so he can still develope a ground game, but he has to commit himself to it. Right now he is a very exciting stand up fighter and IMO good enough for a UFN card, just not pay per view material.

Mcfedries Vs a Wrestler. Hmmm… KO perhaps? :)

But he did not get massacred by either Cote or Kampmann. Especially against Kampmann. He was dominating the standup. And Kampmann is for real. Big fan of his.

And as someone else already stated. He was dealing with the murder of his mum and it really looked like he was looking for a way out in that fight.

2 losses in 5 fights in not so great but considering the circumstances i wouldt count him out yet. Hes really fun to watch but yeah, an improving ground game is a must!

I used to train with a few guys that knew Massenzio, and I saw Massenzio beat Dante Rivera for the Reality Fighting middleweight championship at a Reality Fighting event in Wildwood, NJ back in August of 2006. It was right after a NAGA Battle at the Beach grappling tourney I competed in. The fight was pretty boring. He took Dante down over and over, but the ref would just stand them up due to inactivity on the mat. He won a unanimous decision, but it wasn’t an exciting one. I hope he’s worked on that part of his game, because his takedowns were very crisp and he’s obviously got a great wrestling base to start from. I’ll be interested to see how he’s progressed after 2+ years. Good luck Mike.

Everytime I see that photo of Drew, I keep think it’s Bobby Southward (or Southforth or Southworth or whatever it is)

I was reading the suspensions, and that shit, and it looked to me like some of the guys had (broken hands etc.) pretty serious injuries that conflicted with the Affliction 2 event. What’s up with that?

Mike Massenzio is sure to kick ass. All around fighter- standup, take down, floor. All around class A guy too. but don’t mistake his calm demenor for what he is. A murderer. Have watched him over and over in AC and its about time he hit the UFC. Jersey native who wears his heart on his sleeve. He just opened up his own school too. And his fiancé is hot as hell, slamming.respectfully, his future wife is drop dead attractive. can this guy have a more perfect life. after this win, everyone will remember his name. Drew watch out buddy.
