You’re certainly very welcome MMAMania for all the info here…WEll definitely, Gamburyan will take this one. And so are the following:

-”Brute” Brock
-Roger “The LAtino HEat” Huerta
-Ben “Berserker BArrage” Saunders
-I just don’t know how to call the Maia-McDonald fight. Both for me, have the tools to beat each other. I just don’t know who will screw who…Any thoughts on this folks?

Maia has vastly superior BJJ. I don’t think J-Mac or Da Aflete or whatever MacDonald calls himself is dangerous enough with his striking to threaten Maia on the feet. I’m going to call it Maia in round two by some sort of unusual choke, something other than a RNC or guillotine.

2008-07-30 10:07:56

Absolutely Maia’s BJJ is lightyears beyond J-Mac’s and he is no slouch on the ground. Watching the last MFC event they interviewed MacDonald and he said he predicts that they fight will end by 1st round KO. However, he didn’t say WHO would win, lol.

Mac is going to try and keep it standing but Damien will get him down and submit him.

There is 3 SOLID fights on this card. That can’t be said for all of thier events. But when it comes to second tier matchups, this event falls short.

what ruins this event for me is that Manny “the british prostitute” will be televised! What a joke! I would much rather see the Cheik Kongo fight, or the Ben Sauders fight, even the Cummo/barn cat fight. Any of these fights will be better than manny vs. the “orange County homo thug” Rob Emerson!

I dont want to see many fight on televised pay per view cards, especially in a fight where he is the favorite!

I would much rather see:
Kongo fight
Gusmao fight
Commo/barncat fight
and the Ben Saunders fight!

VM, don’t you think there are 4 solid fights on the main card? The only bad one is Manny/Emerson, but even then Manny is my new favorite guy to hate so at least I can cheer for Emerson to hurt him, bad.

There is no way MacDonald wins this fight. He will be totally outclassed where ever this fight goes. I have also noticed that he has no heart. He basically gave up agaisn’t Franklin. I think he can be broken very easily. And how good could his BJJ be, he was submitted by Patrick Cote! Someone with Maia’s level of BJJ will have MacDonald tapping real quick.

I would rather see the Barn Cat’s fight with cummo, that has a chance of being fight of the night. Kenflo and Huerta will probably get it.

This fight is to justify more TUF series. And LOL at The Talented Fairy. Thirdly, I propose that Emerson be known as “Tha OG from tha OC.” Also, if British Prostitute rips one of OG’s limbs off then he may get to pass his nickname to Jesse Taylor.

Because of his M.O. of humping his opponents until the bell on TUF 5, Manny Gamburyan was given the nickname “British Prostitute” because he gets on top of people and moves around just enough not to get stood back up but not enough to finish the job. Like a British prostitute.

Manny has looked good since TUF. He rips people’s limbs off. Emerson should be an EASY fight for Manny, that is, as long as Manny is injury free.

This is a fight that I’d like to bet a decent chunk of change on because if they are both 100%, Emerson doesn’t even have a puncher’s chance. However, Manny and his fragile collar bone are a big question going into every single one of his fights, which scares me away from betting a good amount on him.

I do have him in a parlay that I placed a while back. I got him at -280 and I got Maia at -200!!!!!!! A few days later Maia was up to -300. If anyone else is interested, GSP is the 3rd guy on that parlay and I got it paying out at about 1.7 to 1

My Bets…
Fitch - Brock - Kenny - Manny - MacDonald

Fitch haters jump on board, but you need to re-check the odds. I’d still do dollar for dollar on Fitch but with his odds I’ll risk a little more.

I’d say Brock has the most risk due to his odds unless you bet on GSP…

Wow Arnold, I have almost the complete opposite.

GSP - not sure but prob HH - Kenny - Manny (even though I hate the dude) - Maia

Does anyone know a site where you can bet parlays? I wanna throw some cash on GSP - Kenny - Maia.

You’re right about Kongo. He’d better be a lot more improved by now, or else!!

As for Ken-Flo, I just feel that Huerta will be able to withstand every trick on the book. He’s fight some pretty tough BJJ guys and he’s handled himself pretty well on the ground against them. So I don’t think any of Kenny’s tricks would surprise Huerta. Huerta via TKO![strikes]

“The misconception is, and the thing that people are getting wrong, is that (I realize) I’m blessed I was part of the UFC and I’m blessed with what they’ve done for me. I wouldn’t be in the situation I’m in if it weren’t for them. They’ve done so much for the sport. They’re the guys in the forefront, sanctioning MMA and showing everybody what we’re like as MMA fighters and that we’re professional athletes, too. They’re the ones who were once $40 million in the hole and they’re the ones who are putting up the money to build this sport.

“All I was saying is that from an economic point of view, I have to think of economics. I was a business major. You have to think that way. I think about taxes and my Roth IRA and my retirement plan and, ‘How long can I do this for?’ I know I’m not Randy Couture and I know I can’t be 44 years old and still compete. I gave myself a five-year plan to do what I can and that’s what I was talking about.”

He finished by saying he wouldn’t take back anything he had to say on the topic.

I am surprised so many people are going for Huerta. I do not think Huerta stands a chance. I think Ken Flo is was to well rounded with his Muay Thai and BJJ seriously outclassing Huertas. The only place I see Huerta with any advantage is the wrestling and lets be honest, As small as Flo is he took Sherk all the way. He hurt Sherk througout the fight, on a few occasions. That wresling advantage I think diminishes seriously once Huerta gets a few clean elbows to the dome. I think Ken Flo wins this fight by the end of the second round. Kenny Florian will prove to be way to gifted for Huerta.

Personally I like to see GSP’s standup game with Fitch because he has been somewhat “gunshy” since the Serra upset and focused mainly on his wrestling.

i love how Kongo, who was less than 4 months ago rumored to be fighting for the title contender spot is now on the undercard

kongo should have won that fight he was robbed! I re-watched that fight luike 10 times and it was a terrible decision that still bothers me to this day!

Hearing only won about 4 out of th 15 minutes of that fight…check the tape and look atthe time and you will see that it was a terrible decision!

Then again, Kongo had the worst gameplan possible for that fight, so I guess he got what he deserved!

I would rather see ANY of the undercard fights over Manny G. Luke Cummo always shows up and puts on great fights!

Don’t worry Manny’s fight are usually over in the midway of the first round with a submission. it will take little time and have ample time to watch the undercards. I personally like the little tazmaian devil. He is full of energy maybe he has ADHD or something.

Go Manny

I’m a little surprised at the line for the Lesnar/Herring fight - I’m surprised that Brock is such a large favorite.

That was a one-sided beating. I don’t even think Herring threw a punch. I would have liked for Brock to get the finish, but he’s still really new at MMA and Herring is one tough sumbitch.

I put this up 3 days ago, it was a small (20 people) presser in toronto…good find john, he had a lot of interesting things to say, he said forget rankings, UFC is going to put on fights the fans want (BJ/GSP) among others. He said alot, it was on sherdog too, a guy had all the quotes, he was actually there!

Yeah, I agree with Dana!!! Sylvia couldn’t last a minute with Fedor - he couldn’t even handle the “old man” Randy - so glad to see him gone!!!

Tonight everyone will see why Florian will never hold the LW belt. Not saying that Huerta ever will, but he will break down Florian big time.
