I can’t believe that the UFC is harping on the ‘black vs white’ theme so blatantly. I thought as a society we had progressed past this. If I have to pick a side, I’ll go with Liddell.

Oh…First.

Looking forward to 87, 88 & 89.

Look at who’s fighting in 88…Chuck, Evans, Ace,
Hendo, Palhares, Karo, Yoshida, Carneiro, Stun Gun Kim and Chonan.

I’m predicting some classic fights.

I am actually not all that excited about UFC 88. THe fighters are great, but I think that they could have matched them up a lot better…for Instance Franklins vs. Hendo

chuck vs. Rashad is a joke of a main event. I have watched Chuck destroy fighters with Rashad’s skill set for years now. of course Rashad has better hands than Babalu or Tito, but he is still a wrestler because I give him 0 chance of getting the better of the stand up, so he will revert to his wrestling…. Best case for Rashad is that he goes the distance with Chuck. I dont really see any way for Rashad to win this fight….Not looking Forward to watching Rashad and his tasteless showboating!

Liddell vs. Rich Franklin
Hammill vs. Rashad

Henderson vs. Marquardt

great matchups… liddell/franklin is a fight i never really thought of, i like it, potential for an absolute war, i think franklin wins most positions but chin wouldn’t hold up against chuck

That is an interesting match up that I never even thought of, but I can see Franklin getting dropped. Also, Chuck is a bit much for someone just coming back up to the division.

Fine then let Hendo fight Chuck….anytyhing is more appealing to me than Chuck vs. Rashad

Liddell has to be aggressive like he was againt wanderlei. Wanderlei has a better chin then Rashad, so if Liddell can stay aggressive this should be another TKO or KO for Liddell sometime in the second round. Hendo needs to win his fight.

HOw the hell do u know that wanderlei has a better chin then Rashad? What a stupid baseless statement! How the F would u know? When did u ever see Rashad get KO’ed? oh yeah thats right….NEVER since he is still undefeated.

I am not a fan of Suga Shad, but I dont make baseless claims like that either. Find me 1 single fact to support your claim!

I’m thinking the same way. Prepare for us to get blasted for this opinion. I’m not even sure why I’m picking Rashad, no disrespect to Chuck, but I just have that feeling, and every once in a while you HAVE to pick an underdog, cuz there is rarely such a thing as a sure bet in this sport. I know Rashad is boring, but he can take some punishment and is always in great shape. It’s been a while since Chuck had to go 3 full rounds (I can’t remember the last time), and , I don’t know……….just have that gut feeling this goes the distance with Rashad taking a split decision.

This is the most dumb, crazy, stupid….. Just kidding guys :) Im not going to bash your posts cause I think Rashad is no pushover! chefdaddy, Chucks last fight was three rounds with Wanderlei! So if Chuck could go 3 rounds with Wandy, going 3 with Rashad should be no problem. Chuck should take this fight (hopefully by KO) but who knows maybe Rashads chin can hold up?

I just looked at my reasoning for this, after a cup of coffee, and found it to be moronic. lol. I’ll stay with my pick for now, but had completely forgotten the war Chuck and Wandy had. If for nothing else, I’ll pick Rashad : Cuz underdogs HAVE to win once in a while, and to mess up the “easy” road back to a belt that the UFC has for Chuck.

Just reread my reasoning for this (after a cup of coffee) and found it to be borderline idiotic. I’ll stick with my prediction, but not for the same reasoning. It’s just that sometimes you have to go with the underdog, and I don’t like the “easy” road the UFC has for Chuck to get his title back.

I know it’s completely out of the blue, but does anybody know when Nate Quarry is competing again? He hasn’t fought since UFC 83 and to be honest I think he can be a factor in the middleweight division. He only has one loss in his career and it’s against Rich Franklin. Since coming back from servere back surgery he has looked great against Pete Sell and Kaleb Starnes. How about a matchup with Martin Kampman? They’re two guys in simmilar situations. Both have had great success in the UFC before devistating injuries forcede both of them to stop competing for a very long period of time and both looked good in comeback fights. Just somthing to think about.

Comment by Jeremyjackson
2008-07-27 16:32:14

Yeah, he looked great getting beat up by the remarkably unskiled Drago until he finally landed something. And beating a coward like Starnes is something to be proud of.

It’s about time someone other than me remembers “The Hitman” but i think Kampmann would trash Nate. Quarry’s got good power but is about as slow and lumbering as Tim Sylvia with absolutely no head movement. if you thought the Franklin KO was bad Kampmann would handle that fool.

It’s too bad. Rashad is undefeated and I still don’t feel like he’s done much. Admitting to my blatant bias against his boring style, but geez, anybody that goes without a loss in the UFC for this long, ought to have a buzz around him. I’m just not feelin it.

There will be after this fight. He will come in with a game plan similar to what Jardine did and he will stand in the center of the ring and throw smart punches and kicks. Jardine squeeked out a win against him and Rashad is a better striker, not as unorthodox, but is more athletic as well. Rashad by split decision, watch and see.

Comment by naturalshadow

I think its more or less people saying that he will win a very close fight.

After watching a fight live on tv, my friends and I try and predict the judges scoring. For example, the Cote/Almeida fight, immediately after watching the fight, I saw it as “Cote by split decision”. Usually, the response would be something like, “Fighter A, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28″

Comment by halljam2
2008-07-28 17:03:03

Absolutely, most Rashad’s fights are that way. One judge sees a round slightly different.

Jardine was alot taller than Rashad and I think a longer reach, so it was easier for Keith to use that gameplan. I do not think Rashad will use the same game plan, thats stupid. Its not like Chuck wont expect that anyway, thats insulting to his intelligence man.

I’m planning on going to this one and I have to see Karo fight, that sucks, plus I can’t believe he’s not on the undercard. Fat boy is done beating anyone good. Yes he’ll probably win this one, but the UFC has given him an easy fight for a win.

Rashad may be just a wrestler, but how many different ways has he won a fight. The guy has a lot more skills than most wrestlers and if he applies them and doesn’t stand there dancing or hopping about I think he will take it. Chuck looked extremely impressive against Silva because he just wanted to stand in front of him and bang he did not have any sort of gameplan, so it was easy for Chuck to look impressive. Rashad would be an idiot if he tried that, and I am sure he won’t. I am not a big fan of Rashads, but the guy is extremely tough and has some of the most explosive take downs in the division. I think he will be able to take Chuck down, keeping him down is the hard part. Again because of Rashad’s annoying habit of dancing and bouncing around, his actuall fighting skills get overlooked. He has never faced anyone like Chuck before, but I do think that he displays more visatility and is less one dimensional. I can see him rising to the occasion and taking this. To me this has the making of a very interesting fight which I think Rashad will take. It all depends on if the Rashad who wants to fight and not dance turns up. And before you say I am crazy, I picked Jardine to beat Chuck.

Comment by Chadx23
2008-07-28 09:13:43

First off, Chuck had an obvious gameplan against Silva…stand and bang, shoot for the ocaisional unexpected takedown, because he felt he lost the Jardine fight because he didn’t score any takedowns which may have swayed the decision his way. You cannot underestimate Chuck’s wrestling ability, in fact you may as well look at him as a very good wrestler who prefers to just use all stand up. Randy had problems with Chuck, Rashad definately will too. Plus the height and reach Chuck will have just makes it harder for Rashad. (I know underdogs in MMA have a strange way of pulling off wins, but I dont see Rashad beating Chuck in anyway ther than a freak accident) I suspect Rashad will for for Chuck’s legs and try to work them over since he had a pulled hamstring…

Im getting fed up with all the crap being posted on here by people who clearly have no idea what the hell they are talking about!! 1st, chuck hasnt went 3 rds lately??wtf!! 2 of his last 3 fights have went three rounds, so where do you find your fraud stories??! (idiot)

secondly all the bullshit talk about chuck getting an easy road to the title, rampage had 1 fight agaist a dump fighter in eastman and got a title shot, nobody complained then!! Chuck dominatd the damn division for years beating all in his path, hes ducked nobody in his career and infact went to japan from the ufc to fight the best so stop talking utter crap!!

Finally why is it always hate on chuck, everybody moans that rashad hasnt fought anybody? well he is now, hes undefeated so to say its a walk in the park for chuck is ridiculous! There are not many poor fighters came out of the reality show, rashad included so stop talking pish!! Oh and thats right Liddell lost his title lost to jardine and then wanted to fight the axe murderer, he just ducks fighters all the time!!!

Cool down man. The reason why no one complained about Rampage after he beat up the Beastman was because Rampagae is a legit contender, right off the bat! He beat up Chuck’s ass back in Pride so it’s just fair enough for him to have a crack at the Iceman…That’s just my theory, hehe!!
