Every interview I have seen has been the same from both fighters. They just keep repeating the same things over and over. I wish someone would take a different angle covering this fight. Why not go get some training footage. Show how each guy is training for the other. Speak to their traning partners. Probably get something a little more interesting. Just give us something other than the same interview done by different reporters.

+1. Exactly my thoughts here.

This is going to be a great fight!!! Now that Fitch has gotten the title shot, he’s not all that arrogant anymore… sounds like a cool guy. Praising GSP like that, never saw that humble talk in him before…

With that said, GSP via TKO round 3 or 4 :-D

He’s a humble guy, but after getting passed up on a lot of good fights I think he had to “call out” to get the shot.

Fitch via 5 round submission

Won’t be happening.

Even if both their skills cancelled each others out, GSP would win on pure strenght and explosiveness.

I can see GSP delivering a spinning back kick to Fitch’s stomach, Fitch doubling up on the floor and GSP finishing him with a short burst of GNP :)

Probably in the second round ;)

Fitch is too one dimensional to beat GSP. He almost got KTFO’ed his last fight against a no name who took it on short notice.

Totally agree he has almost no chance after that b.s. performance waste of 15 minutes of my life that I would never get back.

Fitch is as good as everyone says he is but………….there’s a huge gap in talent-level when compared to GSP. Much like Lauzon vs Florian, Fitch will put up a good scrap in rounds 1 & 2 but will be unable to match GSP’s elite overall skill-level for any longer than that. A mistake will be made and GSP will capitalize on it.

Also, I get the feeling that Fitch is slightly underestimating GSP. Almost as if he thinks he has some Ace up his sleeve that will somehow overwhelm or confuse the champ. Unfortunaly, it aint so.

No one currently in the UFC’s 170 division can beat a healthy and prepared GSP. It will take someone who is above his ability in at least one category to do so. Fitch is not better than GSP in anything nor is he equal in everything. Heres how i see it-

Cardio: Both have great cardio and are able to fire on all cylinders for all 5 rounds. Although GSP’s explosiveness will give him a slight edge if it goes to the later rounds.

Athletics: Again, GSP has the edge here as well. He is much more fluid in his transitions and overall technique.

BJJ: I give Fitch the nod in this category but I believe GSP’s sub-defense and stellar wrestling will cancel this out.

Wrestling: I’m leaning toward GSP because although Fitch is great at wrestling, training with various members of the candian olympic team is far superior to the level of training partners Fitch has.

Striking: Explosiveness is the key word and the canadian owns this portion of the fight.

Heart: I may give an extremely slight advantage to Fitch here because he has had to grind his way to many more victories than his opponent. GSP has tons of heart as well (see his fight with Penn) but because he is so good at what he does and dominates his opponents it rarely comes into play.

X-Factor: This is that one thing that you really cant quite put a finger on. It’s a combination of the intagibles. Vague? Yes, but I think GSP’s string of elite level opponents gives him a clear boost. Fitch has scrapped with some real talent but has not faced the best in the game like Georges has. There are things that St. Pierre has experienced and prepared for that John has not. Not until GSP gets his hand raised at the end of this fight will Fitch begin to realize how important this is.

So you think Fitch is going to eat several elbows to the back of the head like Lauzon did? I’d never compare K-fag-flo to GSP, I’ve got too much respect for him.

Don’t miss the point here. The comparison I’m making is the difference in skill level and quality of competition. Lauzon did eat some questionable elbows but if u thinks that’s what cost him the fight then I’d suggest you go back and watch that fight a couple more times.

I’m shooting for Jon Fitch. Let’s just hope that GSP doesn’t make any MORE excuses this time he gets knocked out. I’m sick of hearing why he lost the fight to Serra. YOU LOST, deal with it and move on.
