ufc 89 fight card

Props: WrestlingObserver.com

Quoteworthy:

“Dana White is expected to officially announce tomorrow that UFC 89, headlined by Michael Bisping vs. Chris Leben, will air for free on Spike TV. Show takes place October 18th from the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England.”

During recent commercials that aired on Spike TV, UFC President Dana White teased that a “special announcement” would be made during the replay of UFC 84: “Ill Will” tomorrow night, which will air on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET to counter the Elite XC: “Unfinished Business” show that will be telecast live on CBS at the same time. It’s news that has been batted around for sometime; however, the promotion and the network have apparently finalized their plans. To check out the latest UFC 89 card and rumors click here.

Hey Kev, how’s the new namen comin’ along?…WEll anyway, I’m with you for the quality free type events! And I’m also mad as hell here in my place because UFC 87 will be aired I think 3 days later due to the fact that Spike TV was bought out by some other cable company based in MAnila. Now f*ck that shit! Everyone here should have equal rights to UFC events! This is bullsh1t for an mma maniac like me!

Kev:

How did you manage to get your accurate name lol??

Negation:

Where are you from? You should try the raw deal us guys get in the UK. Most people in the UK think MMA is some erotic dungeon practice lol

kevin: what do u have to hate about now? UFC 89 is free and features:

Bisping/Leben
Vera/Jardine
Machida/Silva
Soko/cane
Hardy/Gono

what more can u ask for out of a free card? There is still some talk going around that Silva vs. Cote may be added as well. Until it is either announced for UFC 88 or UFC 90, we can rule it out!

well said! this is a ppv type event for free. to bad thet took diego/thiago off, but if they add silva/cote for a title shot, it will be a huge event.

I like this card as much as I like UFC 87’s fight card. Leave it to Kevin to complain about this card. Like u said, its a ppv type event for Free, what the hell does anyone possibly have to complain about?

BW: Its a long shot, but I do hear that Silva vs. Cote on this card is still a possability. Spike TV was very impressed at Anderson Silva’s drawing power, after he pulled in great ratings for last weekends event, and I hear that Spike really wants the Spider added to this card. Also, Machida is on this card, so I am pretty sure that Silva would love to fight on the same card as his partner and good friend.

not saying its certain, because its far from that, but I wouldnt be surprised if you hear Dana announce that Silva vs. Cote will be added to this free card tonight. If its not added tonight, then it probably wont be added at all…..we will soon find out!

I read it has been sold but they haven’t confirmed it was to Zuffa. I guess it’s just a matter of time before they announce it.

I think the IFL being bought by the UFC is the best thing for the IFL’s fighters.

Now they don’t have to worry about the uncertainty of their future and can focus on being fighters.

I think Rory Markham will be a contender down the line.

Having a few UFC’s for free this year certainly helps my pocket book. Thanks to Dana! Thanks goes out as well to Elite XC and Afflication for spurring the competition. I hope Bisping and Diego both take beatings that night.

Yep, agreed. i wanna see Bisping badly beaten by my boy The Crippler. He’s definitely gonna rain some of those heavy bombs. bisping may look crisp at 185, but Leben’s a slugger and doesn’t care who you put in front of him. I’m definitely rootin’ for Leben!!

And I also can’t wait for Machida vs Silva to get it f*ckin’ on! When’s their match up?! Man I just can’t wait for this Elusive vs Aggressive mystery to unfold!…And I’m also lookin’ forward of course to the Alves vs Sanchez explosion at UFC 89! And of course, the monster that is Shane carwin! HE should’ve participated earlier than UFC 89!

Yeah IMO Silva vs Machida should be for #1 contender, but until Dana White gets off Chucks balls, Chuck will always be the #1 contender until he retires, no matter how many times someone like Jardine beats him.

I hope the real announcement is that Anderson Silva is headlining the event, not the UFC’s marketing sweetheart.
