GSP will win a unanimous decision. Fitch has only been submitted once in his 1st fight and is one tough MF. However, I think GSP might find 1 chance to submit Fitch and I think that will be GSP’s opportunity to end the fight.
Sorry dude but John Fitch is just too lacking. i agree he’s one though SOB but when it comes to the tools to breakin’ down GSP, this guy is just gonna get tooled by MAndy Moore’s boylet, hehehe!!
So what will the excuse be if Fitch handles GSP the way he did Diego?

That GSP wasn’t mentally ready for the fight… same as always.. You never know which GSP is gonna step into the ring, but I have a feeling he’s on track, if Fitch beats GSP at the top of his game I’ll be very impressed.

Barely eeking out a split decision win can hardly be termed “handling” someone, and comparing Diego to GSP is ridiculous.

all this stuff about not knowing which GSP will show up to fight, is just CRAP! The ghuys has ran through the entire division. Grant it, he lost in the biggest upset in UFC history, but that was like 1 mental lapse in like 15 UFC fights. He also already avenged his loss to Serra by dominating him. His other loss was to Hughes in the 1st fight. GSP was still young and idolizing HUghes and he made a mistake and got caught..no shame in that and he avenged the loss twice already in dominant fashion.THe guys has beaten:
Sherk
Mayhem
Karo
Hughes 2
Serra (dominated him after avenge a HUGE loss)
Trigg
Bj Penn
Heiron
Koschek
just to name a few
All he really needs is a couple of successful title defenses, a win against Fitch, Sheilds, Alves, Sanchez, and I guess Marcus Davis, Swick and Condit, and there wont even be anyone left for GSP to fight…..IMO he has had an extremely impressive career and is about 3 title defenses short of surpassing Hughes as the most dominant Welterweight fighter that the UFC has ever seen.

John, I’m with you. I don’t understand why everyone questions GSP’s mental state. It seems very rare that people question the mental state of any of the other fighters. EVERY fighter has to deal with their mindset at the time of the fight. People pick on GSP the most because he is more high profile, and because he has openly admitted to having struggled with the mental aspects of his game. I think there are a LOT of other fighters out there who struggle with the same emotions that GSP does, if not more. You just don’t hear about it. Georges is confident enough to admit to his flaws. The importance of an athlete’s mentality is nothing new to competions of every sport. Any athlete knows this. Get used to it. And stop pointing fingers at Georges, as if he is the only fighter who deals with this!

Well said, Georges is just open to what he thinks. As for the ignorant that STILL go on about the mental BS ,I won’t waste my time. GSP could win his next 10 fights and they would still be using PLURL terms for ONE event. “He always uses the mental excuse”. The one I really like is ,”which GSP will show up”? Well it’s pretty obvious. It will be the one that beat EVERY guy he has EVER fought. Listen to GSP’s last words, he’s focused on the most important thing, WINNING.
I hope I can bet the overs on this GSP/Fitch fight. I doubt this fight will be over before the 3rd round because both GSP and Fitch are 2 sturdy fighters! Should make for an amazing title fight!

Maybe he is best suited right now to sign a non exclusive contract that wil let him bounce around from DREAM, WVR, EliteXC, and Affliction for like another year or two and then jump over to the UFC!
Either way, chris is an exciting fighter and win or loose he is usual involved in ve4ry exciting fights! Can u guys imagine this kid when he is 30 years old? thats a scary thought!

Well way over my natural fight today. I’m weighing about 240lbs today. I’m 6′0. I will have implement strict diet so I can come down in weight healthfully. The weight I’ve competed in the past have been at HW, LHW, MW. I done with the big boys.. It’s time to run with the LHW’s and MW’s.

If Fitch get’s dominated the entire fight and it has to go to decision that implies GSP can’t finish Fitch. If Fitch gets dominated it will end in a submission or TKO; but that’s not going to happen. GSP will have yet another failed title defense…
I hope Fitch can force GSP to stand and slug it out a bit. I wanna see where his stand up is at. Been a long time since I’ve seen him nail anyone with that spinning back kick. Hughes doesnt’ have stand up so he doesn’t count.

I think he’ll try and keep it standing, Fitch was even saying at a press conference how he thinks GSP has become afraid of the stand up ever since getting knocked out and been leaning more toward wrestling. Not saying that thats true (the part about him being afraid of striking isn’t but maybe the part about leaning more toward wrestling definatley is), but it kinda makes it sound that thats what Fitch is planning. Personally I hope the fight stays on the feet, I know GSP’s wrestling is through the roof right now but I haven’t gotten to see his stand up lately.
ok, I can never see Jon Fitch finish GSP.. Jon doesn’t have the power or technique if he wins it will be by decision.. I say GSP wins by a 4th round TKO!
mEX: R U HONESTLY NOT GOING TO WATCH eLITExc’S FREE SHOW THIS WEEKEND? I think it will be one of its most complete MMA shows to date (not much of a freakshow factor that taints its other shows).
i commented this to him on the elite oct thread. unless he’s a neilson home his watching it wont affect the ratings and cbs seems to be trying to do all the right things like putting gary shaw in the background, no more long entances with rappers and dancers, much better fighters, hopefully more educated doctors and refs (no mirigliotta). i think he should give up his boycott for at least 1 night, but if not, i cant say that i blame him.
i dont see how people can say bj will beat gsp ever, gsp is on another planet from any fighter plain and simple.. bj is a 155 for a reason i say the same for gsp against silva at 185,and silva against a guy like rampage or machida at 205 (i see him beating forrest) and forrest vs big nog or frank mir.. they’d beat some lower tier fighters at the higher weightclass but NOT the best
yeah but gsp wasn’t the gsp he is now he’s more well rounded and gets better by the day, bj just got into better shape which really is only because the cut to 155 kinda forced him into being in better shape
Because the way the first fight went. BJ did not train for that fight the way he trains now, and in the eyes of many BJ won that fight. GSP LAyed and Prayed that fight to the end. BJ looked fresh at the end of the fight and GSP looked like he got hit with a frying pan. BJs top level, in shape, I think is superior to GSPs. BJ right now takes GSP, in my opinion. Hopefully GSP still is not afraid to go in the cage and bang. Since getting KO’d by Serra, he has been afraid to be the Explosive GSP of old. I know he has won 2 of his 3 fights quickly but he just seems afraid to bang. Now we just get safe wrestling GSP, which is nowhere nearly as exciting or entertaining as the OLD GSP that we all grew to love watching fight.
PhilqNY Good luck with your first Pro-Fight! Give details of when and who, what promo…..
LOL, BJ trained for 4 months for the first GSP fight. BJ just isn’t ripped at 170 because his frame is not that big.
And LOL at BJ being fresh at the end of the fight. He could barely stand, and couldn’t even celebrate to act like he won while waiting for the judges decision.
We’ve seen BJ in shape at 155, never at 170. GSP is way better than he was 2+ years ago.
Dana “Tito’s b1tch” White always has those “big announcements”. Just don’t pay attention to those and just watch out for the next explosive fight. And UFC 87 is waaaaay too explosive! 2+ weeks to go!!!
George will compete with Jon Fitch on the ground, standing, wrestling, and show pure class while dominating his opponent. GSP has far more usuable tools to his advantage. This bout ends in the championship rounds with GSP winning by Ko/TKO ref stoppage due to strikes!
I’d say that if GSP is the totally “Complete Fighter” that he is, Jon Fitch may not even be seein’ the 3rd round. But if Jon Fitch lives up to his hype as the best fighter not in the mainstream, then this fight may as well go to the judges’ scorecards.
GSP all the way Fitch is going to get schooled in this fight. Fitch just doesn’t have the tool to beat overly talented GSP, my prediction 2nd round TKO for my boy GSP
If you think just a wrestler could get to where GSP is, you know very little about MMA. Maybe back when the UFC started (Dan Servern did OK),but now if you aren’t well rounded, you will get NOWHERE. The fighters have evolved and the days of a single disipline fighter doing good are LONG GONE.
Fitch?! Honestly, he doesn’t even deserve a title shot if the decision was based solely on the quality of his opponents. His biggest win is over an unfocused Diego which he barely made out with a decision win. GSP is going to dismantle Fitch. GSP is better than Fitch in wrestling and definitely a lot better in striking. Fitch has no chance. Fitch’s undefeated record against some nobodies is what got him here and that was before Thiago Alves started tearing things up. Fitch would lose even against Alves. Think about it.
Congrats on your fight PhilQNy. A lot of fighters from my gym is competing at Mohegan Sun, Aug 3rd as well. My team’s name is Wai Kru. Good luck on your fight!
So Thiago Alves, Roan Carneiro ain’t good either? Fiorvanti is promising but i’ll concede a win over Luigi doesn’t carry that much weight. Not that I’m taking Fitch in this fight I’m very certain GSP is coming in at %100 this time, but I still say Fitch has earned his title shot.
I’m hardly a Fitch fan, but he’s 8-0 in the octagon with some good wins. Several of them weren’t exactly decisive, but a win is a win. He’s earned his shot. GSP will completely tool him, but he’s earned the right.
the difference between gsp vs. serra, and gsp vs. fitch is simple. gsp underestimated serra. he did not take him serious and he thought there was no way he could loose. BELIEVE ME gsp is taking fitch very serious both fighters will be at the very top of their game. I have no idea who will win or how or when but i do know that this will be one BADASS FIGHT. for sure one of the biggest fights of the year. I just hope there is not a freak ending in the first exchange, I want to see this thing play out. cant wait!!!
I love Jon Fitch.
I think if GSP is not on his game he is gonna lose. However, if he is on his game he will win a decision.. Barely.

Alot of HW fighters are coming in at 6′4 and up..Definitely some “big boy” out there..
–”The Life and Times of PhilQNY”–..i like it!
War Phil…Who-Rahh!!
Hopefully GSP’s mind is where it needs to be for this fight..
Notes on Afflictions Future shows:
Here are some Key Points regarding the next Affliction show, told to us by Affliction Entertainment COO, Michael Cohen.
Venue will be Thomas and Mack Center, Las Vegas.
Affliction will continue using a band for entertainment and intermission. Band is not yet set.
Fight card has been already set.
Afflicition 3, will be on the east coast. (I will be there)
Affliction has signed a great number of new fighters to be added to the Afflcition Roster.
GSP is right, Fitch has no training partner like him. Fitch will be dominated the entire fight. GSP pure domination, but it will go to decision.
No way in hell Fitch wants to stand up with GSP. Hughes and Koscheck are both better wrestlers than Fitch, and GSP tossed both of them around the cage as he pleased. Fitch will be no different.
Personally I hope the fight stays on the feet, I know GSP’s wrestling is through the roof right now but I haven’t gotten to see his stand up lately.
i’ll definitely bet on GSP with this fight!
HOWEVER…… i’ll put the “BIG-GREENS” on BJ when both, BJ PENN and GSP, meet again for the second time!
ok, I can never see Jon Fitch finish GSP.. Jon doesn’t have the power or technique if he wins it will be by decision.. I say GSP wins by a 4th round TKO!
GSP will do to Fitch what BJ did to Sherk, maybe even worse. Guaranteed.
mEX: R U HONESTLY NOT GOING TO WATCH eLITExc’S FREE SHOW THIS WEEKEND? I think it will be one of its most complete MMA shows to date (not much of a freakshow factor that taints its other shows).
i commented this to him on the elite oct thread. unless he’s a neilson home his watching it wont affect the ratings and cbs seems to be trying to do all the right things like putting gary shaw in the background, no more long entances with rappers and dancers, much better fighters, hopefully more educated doctors and refs (no mirigliotta). i think he should give up his boycott for at least 1 night, but if not, i cant say that i blame him.
I guess I won’t fly to MN to see the fights since you already know what’s going to happen.
Dude, no one cares what you guarantee….or me or anyone else for that matter.
What was your guaranteed prediction for Rampage/Forrest, Chuck Liddell/Keith Jardine & GSP/Serra #1?
Did you guarantee the Patriots would win the Superbowl too?
There’s a reason they strap em up and get in the cage.
There are no guarantees.
GSP TKO 3rd or 4th. That’s all there is to it.
i dont see how people can say bj will beat gsp ever, gsp is on another planet from any fighter plain and simple.. bj is a 155 for a reason i say the same for gsp against silva at 185,and silva against a guy like rampage or machida at 205 (i see him beating forrest) and forrest vs big nog or frank mir.. they’d beat some lower tier fighters at the higher weightclass but NOT the best
i wud think so too but bj almost beat gsp b4..
yeah but gsp wasn’t the gsp he is now he’s more well rounded and gets better by the day, bj just got into better shape which really is only because the cut to 155 kinda forced him into being in better shape
I’d say for now, it’s a 50-50. Bj is a freak too, you musn’t forget that…
Because the way the first fight went.
“BJ looked fresh” HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Was that a joke, or are you delusional?
did anyone see the commercial for ufc 84 on sat?? whats up with this “big announcement” from dana??
Dana “Tito’s b1tch” White always has those “big announcements”. Just don’t pay attention to those and just watch out for the next explosive fight. And UFC 87 is waaaaay too explosive! 2+ weeks to go!!!
GSP is one of my favorite fighters, but I thought it was so funny when talking about his last title defense, he said he “blew it up.”
LOL I think GSP is a terrorist. He’s talked about how his training gives him an “explosion” during a fight lol.
He’s ready
GSP will dominate and finish
I really hope GSP KO’s Fitch standing
We haven’t seen a strong standing display from GSP in along time
It’s gonna happen b/c:
GSP is keeping the main the thing the main thing
and the main thing is winning
GSP GSP GSP GSP!
….Joanne Spracklen
George will compete with Jon Fitch on the ground, standing, wrestling, and show pure class while dominating his opponent. GSP has far more usuable tools to his advantage. This bout ends in the championship rounds with GSP winning by Ko/TKO ref stoppage due to strikes!
I predict round 3 or If I’m wrong I would say earlier, but only time will tell.
I’d say that if GSP is the totally “Complete Fighter” that he is, Jon Fitch may not even be seein’ the 3rd round. But if Jon Fitch lives up to his hype as the best fighter not in the mainstream, then this fight may as well go to the judges’ scorecards.
GSP by TKO RD 3….
GSP all the way Fitch is going to get schooled in this fight. Fitch just doesn’t have the tool to beat overly talented GSP, my prediction 2nd round TKO for my boy GSP
i hate gsp he so overrated not a true champion
What are your reasons for thinking GSP is overrated???
Is your other name Chase???
I think is stand up is worse than people give him credit for, in my mind he is just a wrestler.
Anyone know a good site to bet parlays on? I wanna throw down for GSP, Florian, and Maia (over McDonald). Think those fights are locks!
It will be pleasing to see Fitch get dominated by GSP. GSP is too strong, fast, skilled, and well rounded of a fighter for Fitch.
the difference between gsp vs. serra, and gsp vs. fitch is simple. gsp underestimated serra. he did not take him serious and he thought there was no way he could loose.
