“The first punch I threw. It was a straight left. I knew right away it broke. But I had to keep going. I couldn’t throw my combinations I had worked on. Coach Tompkins was yelling at me to throw my combos. At the end of the first round I went back to the corner and Tompkins was yelling at me, ‘Why don’t you throw your combos?’ I said, ‘My hand is broken.’ He said, ‘Ok’ and Randy said, ‘Just go first. Go for it and finish the fight.’”
Former UFC champion Vitor Belfort talks about a hand injury that he sustained early in his bout against Terry Martin over the weekend at Affliction: “Banned.” It didn’t appear to affect his performance — “The Phenom” connected with a crushing flying knee in the second round, which set up a fight-ending combination that put Martin out for the count. It was an impressive middleweight debut for the Brazilian.

Vitor was playing it a little conservative that night, but the KO was pretty sweet. Its potentialy the start of a great comeback for him, since he’s only 31 and he is training with Xtreme Couture now.
when did this happen? I thought he was training with Chute Box now.
The talent is never a question with Vitor. THe question is where his heads at. When he is in the right frame of mind he is as tough as anyone, when he is not, he is extremely boring!
Hopefully he can get that head of his in check!
Vito vs. Lindland…anyone?
Tito vs. Rogerio Nogueira….would be dope! I just like watching Tito get outclassed!;….This fight would help sell an affliction card for sure!
I really like tha idea of that fight John. Nog is pretty much thier only LHW and it ‘looks’ like they will be signing Tito.
Vitor did look conservative in his fight, but I just thought that that was his new style. I’m happy to hear that his hand was broke and that that was the reason he wasn’t throwing those lightning quick combos.
yeah, at this point, I will be shocked if Tito isnt on Afflictions next show…Nog is the perfect opponent to outclass him!
I too am glad Vitor’s hand was broke, because if not, I would have just blamed his non attacking style to his mental block….Hopefully the Vitor of old will eventually come back, but I wont be holding my breath!
Will the REAL Vitor Belfort please stand up!
I can never see vitor being part of chute boxe cause he’s originally from BTT. but I was surprised also to learn he’s part of xtreme couture now, I wonder if wandy and him get along LOL.
when he originally signed on to fight at Affliction he was training at Chute Box…I am 100% positive about that (i even watched a video of hjim training there). when did he make the move to Extreme Couture?
that’s weird, I’d never guess he actually went to train there. Rudimar is very thick headed and keeps his beefs up to date, it just amazes me.
During the PPV Randy was in his corner (obviously), and Trigg was saying that Vitor was training at Xtreme Couture, that he personally was sparing with him that week, and I dont specifically remember if it was Vitor or Trigg hat said this, but he is considering moving to Vegas.
John.. Iwould not want to see Vitor vs Matt..unless we se the Vitor of SEG.. cuz MAtt would smoother him to a decision win. Vitor’s game is stand up. Wne was the last time he tapped someone?
true that!
This is a thread Jack MOve! Hands in the air!
“Randy Couture had indicated that a court is expected to rule on the status of an emergency stay filed by the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He added that if he wins his appeal, the decision on his contractual status will revert to a Texas court and that a declaration of his status would be made soon after.”

Randy is expecting a ruling from the courts later this week!
I have a feeling..Randy will get the chekerd flag.. he’ll KO..Zuffa’s attempts to control his own fate. Randy should fight Fedor..when and where he wants..by Dana and boys doing this..and saying Randy is our friend.. is beneath me. I don’t get it. Like most of us..I’m pulling for Randy!
Phil: U met Randy yesterday, tell the site about your experience! Phil i also meant to ask you, what belt are you? By the way, that picture u sent me of you submitting that dude was awesome…Good stuff phil!
Sounds alot like AA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really knew Vitor would take this one. I also am hoping that he gets into the right frame of mind pretty soon before the clock runs out. As you’ve mentioned, the guy’s still young. Remember that Randy Couture made his MMA debut at around 33. So it’s good to see the Phenom get back on track.
I thought it was funny seeing Randy get on his ass in between rounds. Maybe thats what he needed all along. Its just funny it came from the guy who gave him his two worse losses. Either way, it was good to see him get that win, and push through the broken hand.
vitors fight was great.
i was trying 2 get to meet him and this is prob why i did not see him around.
well my mma nerdz! stinky is back.
sitting 3rd row at affliction was great. i was far away from megadeath.
so that worked out.
i thought the fights turned out pretty good.
especially the last 3.
my affliction bets turned out great as i won 95,000 big ones with my picks.
just to get back to the hotel to find out i got crushed on my ufn bets.
all in all i still came out 30,000 profit.
but i was hoping to get my 57,000k i lost on the last ufc plus profit.
oh well- i am certain i will do good on the next ufc.
Lucky for me, I won all the money I lost on UFC 86 + $150 (profit)….I usually like to profit more, but I took a big hit at UFC 86 (only time AI ever got hit hard betting mma)…Happy to get my account back up to where uit was before UFC 86.
I will be looking to make at least $700 on UFC 87!
good 2 hear u got ur money back.
alot of rampage betters took a big hit that night.
what was ur bet u would not tell cause u thought it would jinx u?
Duh? KING FEDOR! Who else?
and Barnett!
I had Barnett straight up and right after that fight ended, I went to go put all that money on Fedor straight up, but they already closed the books for the event. WTF!!!!
I lost my small bet on Hermes Franca.
I won my parlay which I wish I bet more than half my account on, Fedor/Barnett/Vera/Silva.
Then I bet a $5 parlay on Whitehead/Rothwell that would have won $40. What a waste!
Then yeseterday I won my bet on Alvarez to win against Kawijiri. Luckily I didn’t take him to win the tourney. I also won a very small amount on Aoki’s semi final win.
But I came no where close to winning back all the money I had lost on UFC 86. If I was left with more money in my account after my losses at 86, I would have won it all back because I would have overloaded on that parlay. It was a lock to win.
Yeah, I too am very lucky that I did not take Alvarez to win the entire tournament because I was tempted to!
VM: i wonder what would have happened if we bet Alvarez to win the tournament. Would we have lost the bet? or would the bet have just been scratched since he did not actually loose a fight?
this is the exact reason i go to bookies.
we lay out all the rules before i finalize the bet.
my bookie would count that as a no bet. and u would get ur cash.
Stinky…I too prefer bookies, but I cant find any in Philly that take mma action….so I am stuck with the Net, which isnt that bad…..hey as long as I can get my action in, I dont really care who is taking the bet!
John, since they weren’t offering odds on Hansen/Gill to win the tourney, I would assume that you would get the bet back, however, I’m not certain. But of course, if they also offered extreme odds on Hansen/Gill to win, they of course you’d lose the bet.
I’d be pissed if I had a bet straight up on Rumble Johnson!!!!!!!
That would be a great fight, the winner gets Anderson Silva
I saw the picture at tatame.com.br, it was nasty, it looked like a baseball was underneath his skin. I was actually thinking the vitor of old was long gone when I was watching the fight, but this definitely brings more hope to me.
Sorry to bust your bubble, but Vitor was getting his ass handed to him for all of 30 seconds of the fights.
The Knee was sweet, but up until that point… Martin was winning that fight.
oh cmon, the fight was close before the knockout. i even had vitor winning the first round but i guess it couldve gone either way. it was a pretty uneventful round but vitor was landing more jabs and the good leg kick at the start. and all that with a broken hand. not bad right?
Anyone know how many PPV buys the Affiction card had? Hope it did well. It is good to keep Dana on the edge of his seat.
vitor knocked him out with a broken hand? damnnnn. maybe the ufc should sign him again so they could get someone marketable to fight silva instead of obvious mismatches (cote).

ok off topic. i just watched an interview with frank frank shamrock.
http://mmarated.com/users/video/163/601.html
frank shamrock: 2008 if arm heals as planned, winner of robbie lawler scott smith. 2009 rematch with tito on the works.
Agreed! The UFC should definitely sign him again. It’s just his thinkin’ that he has to fix first. That’s his only obstacle, his ghost shell. Once he gets out of that rut, then it’s back to business!
I wonder if he sparred with Wanderlei at xtreme couture?
It was great to see Belfort back in action - a true talent and one of the first genuine mixed martial artists
That was a pretty good fight. I am not that impressed as Terry Martin seems to be on everyones highlight reel. I will wait for his next fight before I pass judgement either way.
Vitor looked great, especially having to drop to 185 for the first time and it didn’t seem to affect him at all (one more reason to say that Vera is all excuses). I saw UFC 79 and Vitor Belfort was one of the commentators for the brazilian TV and he was cheering very bad for Wandi. They are buddies for a long time now.
Arlovski vs Fedor would be a great to watch IMO.
GET TO YOUR HEAD GUYS FEDOR IS NOT HUMAN!!!!!
If Brock Lesnar is a mutant, then Fedor is an alien! HE just ain’t human!!!
vitor will never fight anderson….i never heard he was btt….i know he was a blackhouse fighter….with anderson and lyoto….hes said in interviews he will never fight machida
I was glad to see Vitor Belfort back in action. This guy was truly one of the best guys of the early years and also one of the first explosive fighters, but he went through some hard times in recent years specially due to family problems. But at least he seems back on track, Terry Martin is was outclassed as far as technique goes but he was a good test for Belfort especially in his MW debut. But i would love to see him back in the UFC at 205 i think thats hes real weight class although 185 is also a good weight for him. The UFC should sign him again and have him fight at Light Heavy Weight, there is a lot of good fights for him VS. guys like Forrest, Jardine, a reamatch with Chuck, Rampage, Thiago Silva, Hamill, Stephan Bonnar, Vera and Rashad. Also at 185 against Hendo, Palahares,Okami, Tanner, Leaben, R. Franklin and Bisping but he will never fight A. Silva cause they used to be training buddies at blackhouse in Brazil. Its good that he trainned with Chute Boxe and now with extreme Couture hopefully he can fix his weakneses and return to his old form. Good luck Vitor The Phenom is coming back.
