Should be a long, entertaining yet grueling fight for both fighters. THis fight will not end before the 3rd round.

Anyone know the opening odds for the matches at UFC 87?

The BJJ guy out-striking the kickboxer. Gotta love it.

Credeur is pure class (outside of his homo-tendancies on TUF) and I look forward to him being in some exciting fights in the future.

How about a Tim Credeur vs Ed Herman fight next for Tim. And if Ed loses, he is out of the UFC.

Cale is a tool, who should not even be fighting in the WEC! Iguess it pays to be friends with the LHW champ of the UFC.

VIOLENTMIKE and PhilQNY: I hope to see u guys in Atlintic City on November 8th for Affliction 2….ATLANTIC CITY…CAN U BELIEVE IT!!! Thank you, nerdy computer guy for bringing Fedor to my backyard! I love this nerdy fellow!

Long LIVE DONALD TRUMP!!!! He should run for us President!

Fedor, Arlovski and Barnett are all without a doubt fighting again in November. They hope to get Aleks, the rumors of the hepititis are false and non medically related. Buentello will probably fight again as well.

No word yet on tim, they definetly cant feel like they got their money’s worth out of him. I mean he couldnt even last 40 seconds! Pathetic Timmeh!

TUESDAY MORNING CONVERSATION WITH KEVIN:
Are you guys all stupid? We knew Tim was making 800,000, months ago. Where do you think I came up with the 96 million an hour. It was widely reported that Fedor made 2 million to step into the ring. They filed that under the clothing line to not show that he alone will bankrupt the organization!
I had a request a few weeks ago to break down the LHW division. I’m glad I waited a few weeks. After the Title fight, I would have said instant rematch as well as put Vera right up there in the mix. Hate to say it, but Rampage won’t be fighting in the near future, maybe years, and Vera looks like crap!
There are so many fights I want to see at LHW, the belt shouldn’t matter. Does a win over rashad make chuck the #1 contender, no, but he was the champ for years and is the face of the UFC, so it’s to be expected! As much as I don’t care for his style, Machida is the obvious #1 contender. He’s just not a marketable champion.
If I were Joe Silva, the NYE show would have Forrest defending the title against anderson silva! He is a true champion, and is most deserving a title shot at any weight he fights. I would also love to see Wand/Chuck 2, Hendo/Wand and I really like the Thiago/Machida match up.
I truly believe there are more interesting and fun fights out there for Fedor at 205. There is no reason he can’t shed 25 pounds. This BS about Vera not being right after cutting weight is lame! He isn’t that big a HW to begin with, and he’s a professional athlete! Give me 200,000 and I’ll cut to 185 in 6-8 weeks no problem (currently I’m at 207-210).

Comment by roy

why would fedor cut weight when he has never lost at h.w.

I don’t even think he’d be able to, or if he did, he would not be the same fighter that he is.

If Anderson wants a piece of Fedor, it would have to be at HW, both coming in at their natural weights. Fedor would be 230 and Anderson would be 215. That is only a 15 lb difference. Fedor just defeated Tim who outweighed him by over 30 lbs.

When some people talk about the best lb for lb fighters, they often discredit the HW’s. However, HW is the only division where you can fight someone that outweighs you by up to 59 lbs.

Comment by kevin

U dont drop down to 205 when u r Fedor! Only reason people drop down in weight is cause they cant compete at their Natural weight. If anything, a fighter trying to prove himself MOVES up in weight like Silva is doing, Why would Fedor drop down, when he can kick any heavyweight ass regardless of what they weight? Makes No sense! U r dreaming
if you think Fedor will drop to LHW. Not going to happen, so talking about it is just a pipe dream!

Kevin-

Thiago/Machida is a great matchup. You are being too hard on Vera. Reese is no can. An ugly win is still a win.

LHW-I would like to propose Wand/Shogun, Vera/Franklin, Chuck/Hendo and Griffin/winner of Machida/Thiago.

HW-Fedor/AA or Barnett/AA or Fedor/Barnett.

Thoughts?

Vera was really affected by the weight cut. Hopefully it goes better for him next time, or he’ll be in trouble.

Thiago vs Machida nearly makes me cream my pants.

Wanderlei and Shogun will NEVER fight each other, NEVER.

I would switch up your other two matches as well. I’d have Franklin vs Hendo since that’s a fight that people have wanted for years. Vera does not deserve to be on any of the “biggest cards”. I’d rather see Goran Reljik back in action than Vera.

i don’t think they would look for that fight but if the money is right or its for the belt they will fight and already almost did, if you remember they where in the same tournement together but silva lost to arona a or they would have fought, than shogun knocked out arona for revenge.plus they fought each other in the gym i heard a story about wandy knocking out shogun over a dog

VM-

Why wouldn’t Wand and Shogun fight?

A Brazilian thing?

Vera/Franklin is a better match up. 2 standup guys who prefer to keep it there.

Hendo/Franklin is not a good matchup for Ace, as much as I like his style. Hendo is a brick that would wear Ace down.

Comment by ViolentMike
2008-07-22 14:57:19

Shogun is like Wanderlei’s little brother. He and Maurilo Rua went to school together and became best friends, and naturally, little brother Mauricio often tagged along. They were way more than just training partners.

Vera/Franklin is not better than Hendo/Franklin. Hendo would stand and bang with Franklin and KO him.

Were you really impressed by Vera at 205?

Comment by OJR
2008-07-22 15:09:04

I was not impressed w/ Vera at 205 but I am not ready to bury him, either.

I think matchups that are a toss up are the better ones.

You predict Hendo would win by a KO. I agree. Not a very exciting angle to it, right?

I think Vera/Ace is a striking dream.

You could not pick one as a heavy fav making the uncertainty that much more appealing.

I think thats the beauty of MMA.

We will agree to disagree.

Sure OJR, we agree to disagree - no problem with that. But can you just explain this sentence:

Does that mean you prefer 3 round desicions with people leaning against the cage?

Great card. Fitch will be one of the only WW close to matching GSP’s physcial strength. I think that may translate into GSP working his standup a little. Which is beautiful when he is on, but he seems a little gun shy since the Serra loss. I still think GSP will catch him on the feet then pounce and TKO Fitch on the ground.

Comment by JRK
2008-07-22 13:57:07

The fight won’t be long enough to be boring. GSP is going to finish him in the first round. It will be all defense for Fitch, he won’t get a chance to do anything offensively.

Comment by Arnold
2008-07-22 15:32:44

I wouldn’t bet this fight to end before 3 rounds unless you like giving you cash away… Diego stormed fitch and it did nothing. GSP will try to pick away and catch him but it will take time. I still see Fitch with a submission victory… and yes I know I’m the only one.

Nope, we’re the only 2! LOL!

I think GSP is going to try to catch Fitch in a submission. There’s a reason he went to Brazil to train BJJ right after the fight was announced. Fitch has been caught in chokes in quite a few of his fights, so I think it’s a good strategy.

That said, I think Fitch is going to put GSP on the defensive and make him uncomfortable. He’ll grind him down and choke him out or win a unanimous decision.

GSP by DEATH! In the first round! (whatever). I Just wanted to know what it felt like to make an arbitrary statement colored by uninformed bias towards one fighter or the other simply because he did or said something before or after a fight that made me angry, or because he may have beaten another fighter that I idolized and is now fighting for elite xc, or some backwoods promotion in Shreveport, LA. Not to mention, it’s just a lot easier to pick the guy that I think everyody else thinks will win. Oh, by the way, if my guy loses, I probably won’t be posting on the site for three to four days. Undisclosed reasons and such.

Heard GSP is going to come out to the music of Boy George’s “Do you really want to hurt me” before the fight! Also does anyone know how much GSP has had to cut back from eating his crepes to cut weight for this fight? Not saying either opponent will dominate but picking Fitch on this one. GSP has even said himself that he hasn’t fought someone with no weaknesses like Fitch who’s match up will give him problems. Thing is that GSP has only seen limited action on Fitch as well.

I don’t know if they’re having after parties at a club because the fight will end so late. That’s the problem with having fights outside of Vegas or the West Coast. They don’t get done with the main event until like 1am. Then they have to do the press conference, etc.
