He has matured so much as fighter. i guess the mentor in Nate Quarry rubbed off on the ole crippler here. big fan of leben always in there to fight. enjoyed the part about bringing the bag up cocohead mt.

This could very well be the fight of the night. I think Bisping’s stand up skills and chin are questionable against top talent which we have yet to see. Leben could certainly put a halt to The Counts rise to glory with one of his wild hooks. I would personaly welcome that type of beat down. Leben by a fabulous onslaught.

Soko vs. Cane, Machida vs. Silva and Bisping/leben all have the potential to be fight of the night.

UFC 89 is just an awesome card. Spike TV is close to finalizing a deal that will allow them to air UFC 89 for Free, but I hear that after they say how much drawing power Anderson Silva has during the past weekend, that they want the UFC to add the Spider vs. Cote for the title to the card. This is not a definite but its definetly being discussed!

Chris has come a long way in maturing and becoming a man since his days on TUF.

You gotta love it when UFC guys are still willing to teach beginners classes.

And you all can hold off on the joke about Leben only being qualified to teach beginners clases, hahahaa, but he’s still going to beat down Bisping!

I like Leben but he could knock Bisping out with one shot and it wouldn’t matter because Anderson Sliva is in his weight class.

I love Leban and I know he has matured as a fighter. But all I see is him coaching a bunch of rookies. Where are the fighters/sparing partners to make him better? Maybe they are just not showing it, but that has me a little worried.

I didn’t really think about that before you mentioned it. That’s a serious concern. I also hope that he has good training personnel to get him ready for this fight. I know for a fact that Leben has what it takes to beat Bisping, it’s just a matter of getting prepared.

Right now the episodes are merely establishing Chris, the gym, and the team. Leben will start bringing in the big dogs soon for some heavy training, we’re just not at that point yet. Coming soon though!!

Good Point man. eh it maybe be an issue. but most high caliber fighters these days have their own gyms and when they haven’t been signed for a fight they usually have time to run thier seminars plus leben is just a part of the gym staff as a team fight member. if he owned their gym that could be a real issue. when it come to training time im sure icons main coach wil have a good training regiment waiting for him..plus we dont know when this vid was take..we just know when it was posted.

Leben doesn’t posses the strength Matt Hamill has, but he could take 1 page or 2 from Hamill’s fight with Bisping. I sure hope Leben has been working on bobing and weaving his head.

Hamill also doesnt have the punching technique that Leben does. Leben knows how to get the most power out of each of his punches.

I think Leban has heavy hands and lots of power and he uses technique within his physical abilities. He is very stiff and his lack of head movement is odd. However, his KO record speaks for itself.

lol, if u don’t see the ‘little’ drama in that video then that video suits your tastes, and I don’t mean to be offensive, because I do like that video. I just thought the intro of him skydiving, jumping off the cliff with a flying kick pose, the flexing was a ‘little’ drama. I realize the name of the gym is Icon, but I think the title Evolution of An Icon is kinda’ grandoise.

Coach Chris is better than that video shows him to be. He gives so much of his time to the fight team, always a phone call away and he’s at the gym Monday-Sunday pounding out our kinks and honing our strenghts.

Fight Team practice and regular practice is fun. He breaks things down simply “…Fisher+Price my first guard pass,” and doesn’t carry the cockiness/machismo that you’d expect someone of his stature to present. Coach Chris is there with us, sweating, patching up our cuts, and looking out for our interest both in and out of the gym. If you’re ever on Oahu, come in, drop in for a class, just don’t volunteer or or hope you’re not voluntold to be the class example when he’s running through the BJJ flow drill… New Pain!!

More on Coach Chris.

Okay when I first came to ICON, I barely knew of Chris. I knew he was in the UFC, but didn’t get to see him on T.U.F. since I was on military deployment, and returned in time to catch the final fight of the finale.
As I stated earlier Chris isn’t cocky. He knows he doesn’t know everything and won’t hesiate to bring in someone to further break down the lesson. I think he tends to beat himself up for when he thinks he teaching isn’t up to par.
Chris runs most of the classes at ICON. He is in the gym all day. From open 7AM to pass closing during the night Fight Team Sessions. Chris Teaches the Muay Thai, MMA 101 and Submission Grappling Classes. He also frequently shows up to our Sunday Open Mat Sessions (A great time to drop in 11-1 to improve you No-Gi game and hang).
As Chris ramps into fight mode either Matt Humme comes to us or he goes to Matt Humme, and we are treated to a who’s who of guest instructors. One of the sickest nights ever was when Josh Thompson came and ran grappling class. Chris Wilson, Eddie Yagin even Matt Hughes have even come to run class or subbed for a week or more when Chris is out training.
No word on who is coming into sub this time. And I better have made it off the editing room floor in episode 3…

wow i cant w8 4 this fight

now that every 1 is watching lebens videos and gaining a new belief in him, a belief that he can stop bisping. its great!!!

because now ppl are starting to underestimate bisping and overate leben so when bisping wins it’ll be a shock

I am soooo with you. many people dont know bisping also has a more extensive grappling background that he’s made it out to be, lebens only true advantage is one punch knockout power… but I doubt that matters againt a bisping flurry! sorry chris… ya gotta nap. lebens gonna be “down for the count” lmao

I strongly disagree. Even if Bisping wins, it aint gonna be by TKO in the first round. Leben has a chin of concrete, who knows about Bispings chin, but it looked like Hamill rocked Bisping and I bet Leben hits 10 times harder. I think Leben will take this one. Bisping has only looked bada$$ against guys who suck anyway.

bisping doesnt get his TKO’s by badly hurting his opponents, i mean dont get me wrong he probably does hurt them but he makes you stop defending yourself properly, he throws punches from all angles and not many ppl can block them and its very clever how he gets his wins.

hamill could easily of knocked bisping out if it wernt for his great head movement and general boxing skills and footwork

Does this clown expect anyone to take him seriously when he’s calling himself an “icon”? And people think he’s changed from his TUF days? Oh, for the interviews where he’d declare himself the greatest fighter ever. EVER. The veritable Bret Hart of MMA is Chris Leben.

Bisping is going to knock his head off and I can’t wait.

Dude, he works for Icon gym. That is why the title is that way. This is basically an advertisement for the gym and their most popular coach.
