ufc 85 bonuses

UFC Fight Night 14: “Silva vs. Irvin” at The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 19 is in the books. And on a night when some of the biggest — literally and figuratively — fighters in the sport were in action just up the dial, the participants on the Spike TV card held their own.

Especially Rory Markham. The gritty International Fight League (IFL) and mixed martial arts veteran — who was making his Octagon debut — had a SCARY knockout via head kick over Brodie Farber in round one of their welterweight tilt.

Hopefully, Farber is fine. We know Markham is — he’s $25,000 richer because he scored the “Knockout of the Night.” It’s well deserved.

Here are the special fight bonuses for “Silva vs Irvin:”

Fight of the Night: Frank Edgar vs. Hermes Franca
Submission of the Night: CB Dollaway
Knockout of the Night: Rory Markham

Each fighter received $25,000 for their efforts in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as humanly possible.

It’s good to see Franca earn some extra scratch even in defeat. He’s a good guy and a talented fighter. And that 12-month suspension must have hit him hard in the wallet.

Hope to see him back in action real soon … Edgar, too.

CB submission of the night??? I think this fight should have been over by DQ with the knee to the head of a downed fighter. All the more reason I continue to hate CB.

Silva belongs at 205. Looking at his 185 pics he just looks too thin, not AIDS thin but close. He caried all of his speed into 205 and clearly we’ll need to see him fight someone better who can put up a better fight.

edgar vs. Franca fight of the night? I dunno about that one! THey shoud have thrown Cain Vallasquez some moneyt for being so damn dominant and they should pay Rumble his full salary for cheating him oout of a win!

Damn right about Rumble. I hope The Moustache has to answer for that decision. He might as well have announced Moe of The Three Stooges as the winner of that fight.

they had to call it a tko because the ref hadn’t seen the eyepoke to jump in for it,and we all know the ref is NEVER wrong :/.. they’ll have a redo elite xc style

The guy was throwing open-hand jabs all night and had already poked Johnson at least 4 times. He did it enough to draw at least two warnings from The Moustache, including a threat to deduct a point. And in all the fights The Moustache has seen, when has he ever seen a simple jab send a guy flying across the cage and leave him screaming in a heap in the corner of the cage and covering his eye? History of this fight, history of every fight in general and an ounce of common sense should have told Moustache that Johnson got hit with yet another illegal shot and either sent the fight to the judges or just given it to Johnson by DQ. This is officially the worst refereeing of the year.

How could he havce thought rumble was out cold? Rumble was screaming at the top of his longs, instantly! That doesnt happen when a guy is knocked out! Just utter stupididty shown by Maz time and time again. this year he has cheated Rumble and Brock Lesnar out of wins….When will it stop? THe guy is pathetically garbage!

That was really infuriating. Being able to cheat your way into a victory is not a good thing.

Worst case go to the cards or something. Lame!

I agree. Bad call and how does a fighter who can’t make a fist get medical clearance? … and the win for fouling.

I know the UFC doesn’t look at things this way. That was a big win by Edgar. Gray Maynard beat the bricks off Edgar. I haven’t heard any rumored fights for Maynard. Anyone hear anything of what is next for him?

So are all illegal moves now going to be allowed in the UFC?

Next time - if the eye gouge doesn’t work - just kick the guy in the groin, then when he falls down because of it - kick him in the head. I mean if you don’t disqualify Burns for the eye poke - why not just break all the rules? Come on UFC judges - and refs - do what is right and reverse this call. If not, I think Johnson should get a bull dog lawyer and sue the UFC for being crooked.

Anthony Johnson needs to protect his legal rights ‘groin area’ cause the UFC sure ain’t doing it.

WTF John. Yet another stupid post. UFC doesn’t pick the judges. Its not football dude, there is no instant replay. The poke was not called, then Rumble tapped, and said he was done. How did “they” rob him. Hopefully Nevada reverses it. PETITION AGAINST JOHN AND HIS MANY, MANY, MANY POSTS. THAT ARE MOSTLY USELESS.

Ummmm that was not the first eye poke in that fight bro. If Mazzaghatti had any common sense and was watching the fight as closely as an MMA official should he would have noticed what happened.

Well, raetsinner, this is the first post I’ve seen of yours and it’s pretty moronic. John never said UFC picks the judges, or ran with any of the assumptions you put up. Did you watch the fight? That was a MINIMUM of 4 pokes to the eye received by Rumble. And PW had it right, since when has a ref with that much experience ever seen a wead uppercut cause that kind of reaction? Whether it was Maz or just the situation, that fight should have been ruled at worst a no contest, at best Burns should have been DQ’ed.

That Peruvian Neck Tie was sweet.

I hate CB, but he has got some skills. I gotta give him credit. Once he learns how to defend an armbar he’ll be tough.

It was an interesting move, but not one that could be put on a decent fighter with any frequency. I’m just happy those two guys didn’t lay ‘n pray. Quite frankly, I was expecting Brokeback Mountain 2.

Yes he got Rampage with it……albeit screwing around in practice. Do you honestly think he’d get him in it in a real fight. My point that I didn’t elaborate on is that (as Rogan puts it) MMA has revolutionized martial arts mainly by way of finding out what techniques work and which don’t. If the Peruvian necktie was such a powerful finishing move, we would see more guys using it and more guys getting subbed by it.

That’s the thing. Two wrestlers usually make for a good match because they can’t lay and pray each other. Wrestler v. Striker that’s got potential for a real boring fight.

CB’s knee was not as bad as Burn’s eye pokes but same level. JT and CB are just “B” level fighters, I think they’ve got a promising career in WEC… maybe.

I agree Rumble didn’t get a fair shake and would have won a decision, but Burns was straight up about it. He said he broke his hand 3 times in 16 mos. If I just got my first break in the UFC, I’d be a little apprehensive to start throwing haymakers and risk breaking the hand with the momentum he has from the previous fight. Worst thing for him right now is not a loss, its an injury. They both handled it with class, Burns even looked like he felt bad and offered another shot (which he should then look to take down Rumble more than he did-he’s better on the mat and got into a slugfest at times…to Rumble’s advantage) Blame the ref but layoff Burns, he showed well….

Great headkick ko by Rory Markham. It was very much like what Pete Williams Did to Coleman many years ago.Rory seemed like a nice guy in the post-fight interview.I wish him well in the future.

man! i was routing for franca…. even if he is a sted head. i hate edgar…. there is just something about him i dont like… he can be quite boring but then he becomes exciting again so i cant use that as an excuse but there is definatly something about him that makes me hate him…. like ppl hate koscheck but instead i hate edgar….i hope he gets a beatdown in his next fight against someone like huerta, sherk, bj penn or nate diaz… i would love to see that happen!!! as for franca i hope he gets back on track and starts winning again because he has the potential to be dangerous to the LW division

I thought sandman would put up a better fight than that I think his nerves were rattled going into the fight. Silva made short work of him. Makes me wonder how many guys joe silva hears shit themselves when he calls to offer a fight with anderson, that has to be the one name nobody wants to draw
