James Irvin has essentially been in the spotlight in the run up to the main event at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19. Now it’s time for the “Spider” to finally get in on the action:

James Irvins 15 minutes is up tomorrow. He will now be relegated to being a highlight reel.

Silva is a cocky b2stard, “I can do things in certain situations that other fighters cant.” Yes Silva you are a god ok now shutup…… please Irvin knock this cocky b@stard out.

He has the right to be cocky. P4P best in the world, what do you expect. They’re fighters.

THis fight is a JOKE!!! What would u guys say if t he UFC announced that that James Irvin was fighting Forrest for the light heavyweight title? U would all cry BS cuz Irvin doesnt deserve it, so why the hell does any believe that he deserves to be fighting the spider, because Silva is moving up in weight? Grow up, that crap doesnt matter….

True MMA warriors have always been able to win against Tough guys that weighed heavier than them, and I expect Silva to do the same. HE is the best UFC champion, NO WAY IRVIN deserves a shot! Silva is actually a natural LHW, he has fought at that weight plentty of times in his career, so he wont even be outweighted…not by much at all!

Silva is a legend, and like all Legends, weight isnt much of an issue. U got the Great Sakuraba who has never fought a man his own size…Hendo always fights out of weight class, wanderlei fought Hunt/Cro Cop/ Beat Fujita

Weight is over exagerated…if yo got it, then you got it!

Fedor coiuld cut down to 205, because he is a very small heavyweight….dont tell that to the list of great fighters that he has made look Silly.

we have a top p4p fighter and UNDISPUTED UFC/Pride champion vs. maybe a top 15 lightheavyweight? What a joke!

confidence=cocky if you don’t like a fighter. so him saying it’s an honor to have this fight to move up to do this for the ufc means nothing him being humble means nothing? you only look at the fact he showed some confidance and you turn that into somthing bad. real adult of you.

My money is on Irvin. If I’m wrong then I’m wrong. I’m sure I’ll get over it.

I also think Irvin is taking this fight. I just couldnt see Anderson being as dominant at LHW. But the Spider looked solid on the countdown show.

Glad a few people agree with me. Irvin definitely has potential to be a top tier fighter, he just hasnt put it all together yet. Eventually he’ll get there and what better way to start other than beating Silva?

To be honest…I just see Irvin laying him out cold, and like you said above…if I’m wrong, then I’m wrong.

c-war I agree Irvin definatly has the potential to be a top LHW. If he can stay injury free, he wouldnt be an easy opponent for anybody.

I totally see Irvan being able to knock Silva out too. I never bet MMA, but Im putting a little something down on Irvin because the payback would be pretty decent.

Yep, pretty sure you’ll get over it. but my friend, placin’ money on Irvin is like throwin’ away good money. But then again, this is MMA so WTF am I sayin’ here?!?

Well we would really never know who could end up a highlight reel. Could be Silva for all we know. but that’s not where my bet is of course, wehehe!!

Not mine either, but then again, I certainly never thought he would end up on Ryo Chonin’s highlight reel. I think that Silva will win this fight, but it will not be a walk in the park.

yep, I’m getting my name back for sure!!!

And have you guys seen james’s workout from ufc.com? He seems so much slower compared to the spider. anderson will kick @$$!

linx, looking at the countdown show, Irvin did look slow and kinda like a rookie. Dam the Spider looked solid on the show. I dont understand why my gut says Irvin will win. Either way I’m a fan of both.

You will get your name back for sure… I am about as sure about this fight as you were about Rampage. Wait a minute… That doesn’t sound good.

Silva is an outstanding fighter, and a class act. I don’t mind confidence - it’s when it spills over to trash-talking that it becomes cockiness, IMO. That being said, I am rooting for Irvin, but will not have my heart broken either way. I mostly just want to see a great fight.

I think a lot of guys here don’t realize that the UFC MW and LHW class differ in 20 lbs. 20 lbs!!! That’s a huge amount of weight difference regardless of the cutting involved.

Imagine if you gained 20 lbs. of weight. Whether it be muscle or fat, your athletic ability would be vastly different. Anderson’s advantage is his lean, quick fighting style. Adding 20 lbs doesn’t help with his speed.

I’m surprised the amount of guys freely giving this fight to the Spider. He’s among my favorite fighters. But, I don’t think it will be the cake walk for Silva everyone thinks it will be.

I have to agree with u Tabasco, I think Silva has the edge here but he’s not going to dominating at 205.

He’s not going to dominate 205 but he’s going to dominate Irvin…
