B.S. I just watched the fight again and Forest clearly won. Rampage got the first round and maybe the fourth and thats it. Plus Forest with a 10-8 second round. Rampage and Juanito (how ever you spell it) are just a bunch of cry babies. Man up and admit it.

i heard that fedors management started the rumor that he was hurt

so that if he looses they have an excuse.

i was thinking that i should lay money on tim before

but after my bad night last event

i will be putting 30,000 on fedor.

It’s not polite to discuss amounts, no one cares (or believes) how much you are going to bet. But anything short of having his arms amputated should make Fedor a good bet.

It still ends up a draw man get over it. At least we have a winner and its the harder working of the two so I view that as fair

So just because Forrest ” worked harder..and brought his “A” game on July 5th..and Page with his “JV” game.. the fight being as close as it was..Forrest should get the nod..just cuz..oh..he worked harder. I never knew you get points for that.

Actually yes you do get points for that, its called Octagon control. Anyway yes Forrest does deserve the win because he did come to fight, and the fight was very close but during the fight I saw Forrest as the aggressor the whole time and the controller in the fight. At no point did I really think Forrest was in any trouble other than the first round which Forrest answered back in the second. With no clear answer to Forrest’s style and no work really shown I don’t think Rampage won that fight or deserves to even call himself the champ. What kind of champ doesn’t respect the number one contender and says he’ll respect the guy after he makes it past the third round? Really the number one contender has to make it past the third round for you to respect him? Well Rampage didn’t respect Forrest and lost his title. Rampage lying on his back for a full round kinda peeved me as well so no the guy doesn’t deserve the title and no he doesn’t deserve a rematch immediately. He should go face Wandy, Rua, Machida, or Thiago. You know nobody even looks at Lets see if he even would have been a consistent champ becaue I see Wandy and Rua both smoking him and Machida is such a wild card I wouldn’t even know who’d win that one.

Rampage landed 11 power shots to the head in round one, including a knockdown, while Forrest landed only 5. Power shots to the head are by far the most effective technique in MMA. No way that round should be scored for Forrest, no matter how much time he spent standing in the middle of the ring.

Round three was admittedly a lot closer, with Rampage landing 5 power head shots to Forrest’s 3. Forrest really did little other than land slapping leg kicks in that round, so the edge, again, should have gone to Rampage.

Rampage is a counter-puncher, and Forrest used that to his advantage by “pressing the action.” It was the same strategy that Jardine used against Chuck, except that Forrest actually landed fewer big punches than Jardine. When “controlling the Octagon” is worth more points than punching your opponent hard to the face, and being busy is more valuable than being effective, you are dealing with a deeply flawed scoring system.

No your seeing it all wrong…So what now we only count power shots? Why dont you go back and count all the other body shots and leg kicks in the first and third round and add that to your totals. You cant say that “Power shots to the head are the most effective technique in MMA” because those little slappy leg kicks that you talked about put a deep bone bruise on Page and limited his mobility. Thats huge! All these things add up to a more controlled fight…AND POINTS! So that fact that you think power head shots are the only way to score effectivly is obviously biased…dont be made if you wanted Page to win and he didnt.

Plus your a part of the minority…you should go check the poll on Yahoo Sports.

Question:

Who thinks the judges were wrong at UFC 86?
Forrest won that fight?
Should have been a draw.
Rampage clearly won.

The results after more then 30,000 votes is

A) Forrest won that fight…it got more the 65% of the vote.

Rampage clearly won…yeah it got 15%. Even Page himself said it after the fight…HE WHOOPED MY ASS!

I agree with you that round 1 should have been Rampage’s but I don’t agree that 2 more power shots should give a guy a round when he does not have control of the octagon and is not pressing the pace. You know they are fighting for 5 minutes each round, if you throw 5 big punches and land them in the first minute I suppose the last four don’t matter as long as the other guy can’t throw more than 5 big punches? Your going to give a round to a guy because he punched him 2 more times than the other guy? Not to mention your completely writing off the leg kicks which clearly showed Rampage discomfort in the second and now when he doesn’t check those leg kicks it tells me Forrest is still in control and that he is floating in this fight. Again though I don’t care how you score it because it is impossible for you to score that fight in Rampage’s favor, you can make it a draw but forget that let Rampage fight and prove himself against Wandy or somebody. But I guess since Rampage made more three point attempts than Forrest he deserves to still be champ (basketball refrence)

When I judge a round I ask myself whom would I rather be in that round. Outside ofthe 2nd round. Forrest did not put Page in any danger..was never at the point of putting page away. The end result..it is what it is. I will always question the scoring system that is in place today that gives round 1 to Forrest..until that changes..my opinions on the matter will remain the same. I agree with Juanito. Sit with the NSAC..the 3 judges..watch the tape..and explain how they gave round one to Forrest? How is it Forrest won a lopsided decision? I’m for all fights to end before it gets to the card..but realistcally that will not happen evertime. With how this fight was offically scoreed..scares me. It can happen again. It can take away the much needed intergerity that MMA needs. This is an issue that needs to be addressed and rectified. Page will get has chance to fight Forrest again. This will not change that fact something is wrong with the scoring system if it’s allowed to give a round like RD1 of Page /Forrest to Forrest when he just survived the round.. that is like giving Page the 2nd round.

I understand and agree for the most part. I like the scoring system and I’d like it to stay but there are minor changes I would like made. I put more of the mistakes on the Judges and Refs (no ref problems with the Griffen Page fight) but these people need to know that when they mess up they can’t just laugh it off I totally agree. I think the UFC should have their own judges watching the fight at the same time so that if there is a problem with the Judges that are picked they can just say hey lets look at what our judges saw and see if they get the same thing. I think the problem is that the judges just aren’t as educated in the sport as they need to be. I read on fiveounces that the judges for MMA a lot of times are the ones that are used for boxing and this is not right. I just don’t want people taking away a win that Forrest did earn because the judges don’t know what they are doing. Agreed though man the system does need to change but I like the 10 point system with minor changes. For example a 4th judge in the instance of a draw that way we have no draws

I completely agree, they need to accept that they lost and move on…tons of points are awarded for the fighter who advances the fight. We all know that wasnt Rampage, as far as the knock down in Rd. 1 that was basically nullified by the hobled Rampage after those nasty leg kicks from Forest…it doesnt look good to the judges when you hop around the ring holding your leg. I really think the only reason they are crying so much is because they want an instant rematch. They dont want the road that leads through wandi…why fight a guy who has your number when you can bitch and moan and get an instant rematch?

If chuck wins in atlanta…

Chuck vs Forrest
Rampage vs Wandi or Shogun
Machida vs thiago silva

that should really settle the dust in the 205lbs division.

Just like I said Forrest over Rampage. Styles make fights and I just had a feelin that Forrest would take it. Now for more of my predictions BIG TIM will beat Fedor (UD) I’m not a Fedor hater but too much time off, very weak competition. Mark my words on this one Rashad UD over Chuck again styles make fights. Rashad will stay away from the power and win a real boring UD. Thoughts…….. anyone.

ps where were all the Forrest fans when I was being ripped apart for pickin him?

No excuses from me either.

I said is was 2-2 going into the last round, Forrest edged the last round.

Regardless of the score cards and points given per round, it was definitely 3-2 to Forrest.

I more than anybody wanted Rampage to win, but he didn’t bring it. Rampage must have left it in the cage with Hendo.

Bottom line, Rampage lost. He only has himself to blame. Don’t defend him, think of John’s financial loss lol, Rampage needs to start acting and fighting like a champion, mediocre performances don’t cut it this level.

But in no way is Rampage gonna let that shit happen again,so all the guys arguing in favor for Forrest live it up,this is your moment to say forrest is the man.b/c rampage is gonna murder this guy in a rematch! im not making excuses for Rampage,it is what it is,but it wont happen again, mark my words

Rampage won the fight 3-2 or even 4-1, I totally agree that in order to become champion you need to clearly win the fight, which forrest didn’t do. If it was so clear that forrest won, then why would it be the topic of conversation on all the MMA sites. The match was closer than I ever thought it would be, which I give forrest credit for, but the only way to settle it is for a rematch! Chuck is fightin Evans, Machida should fight Wandi, and Rampage vs Forrest II! Dana make it happen!

Comment by JV
2008-07-11 08:04:39

Butter, the reason its the topic of conversations is that you guys cant let it go. 3 professional judges scored it for Forrest. LET IT GO!!! And to say Rampage deserves a quick rematch is bull. Rampage did nothing in that fight to deserve it. Rampage should work his way back up, like everybody else.

I watched the fight on a giant outdoor screen at the Hooter’s in Daytona, and they had a D.J. playing, so there was no volume for the fight. It made me realize how much the commentary can sway the way people view a fight. I didn’t know anyone standing around me, yet we all scored the fight the same, with Forrest winning rounds 2,3, and 5.

Juanito is not doing Rampage any favors with all of his crying and complaining. He needs to forget trying to get the decision reversed, that will never happen. If anything it will just piss off the judges. He also needs to stop talking about lack of training, injuries, and doing the TUF show factoring into the loss, because Forrest went in under the same circumstances, except that shoulder surgery is usually takes longer to heal from than a broken hand.

Comment by JV
2008-07-11 04:59:54

Juanito, doesnt make sense, he says Rampage won the fight winning rounds 1-3-4 right. Then he admits Rampage did nothing in round 2. So with round 2 being a 10-8 round, doesnt that make the fight a draw? This should go down as one of the sissy-est, p*ssy-est g*y-est thing a trainer has done. And the reason is, he and Rampage did alot and I mean alot of talking. I didnt make out what he said about the retiring part to Kenny. Does anybody know what he meant?
