I thought Fihlo vs Sonnen was on this card. Either way it’s still a pretty solid card.
looking forward to this event as well.
Absolutely! The WEC always puts on solid events.
Hiromitsu Miura should be a pretty decent opponent for Carlos, although his record wouldn’t indicate it. Miura has fought against Mayem Miller at 185, so I would guess that he is a rather large WW. He went the distance with Miller and Mayhem even went for a twister and a banana split! But of course, you gotta go with The Natural Born Killer in this one.
Stann already KO’d Cantwell, in the WEC, so I see this fight ending no differently. I don’t even think lasted 1 minute the first time…
Marcus Hicks is a SERIOUS threat to Varner and his title. His nickname is appropriately “The Wrecking Ball”. He is a rather short ball of solid muscle and can grapple like a mother. Varner has his hands full for sure. I have bet on Hicks in his last 2 fights, and if the odds are anywhere near +200, I will be doing so again. Although, I would still say that Varner is the favorite to win the fight, but I see Marcus taking it 3/8 (just under half) of the time, justifying a bet at +200.
Brian Bowles has devastating standup and everyone has like Demacio Page since his appearance on TUF. Gangster! LOL. No matter what, this fight will entertain.
I’ve been a fan of Micah Miller before I knew who Cole Miller was. Crazy long with great BJJ. Micah should be back on a winning streak after this one.
For the prelims, they have some pretty big names. In fact, I think that this card is star studded enough that they could have split it into 2 events and had them 3 weeks apart. 2 titles one night, 1 title the other. Cub Swanson was a star in the WEC before getting choked out by Jens. Since then, he has been on the prelims. Brock Larson has fought for the title (lost to Condit) and has since beaten John “The Un-Naturally Blonde” Allessio. Prater owns a win over Carlos, and has also since lost to Carlos in his last title defense. Even Alex Karalexis (TUF 1) can be on the televised part of a WEC event and not many would complain, its the WEC afterall… Dave Terrel vs the Casino Employee? Don’t sleep on Blas, he got solid submissions, but he should lose this one.
Very good night of fights. July and early August is simply loaded with QUALITY MMA!!!!!!!!
Yes Sir VM.. Marcus Hicks has some real good BJJ. The first time I seen him was on an episode of Tapout..and he tapped out the dude the Tapout was sponsering. I was real impressed with his ground technique.
YES he did! Against Sergio Gomez. That too, was my first time seeing him in action!
wasn’t Demacio on Tapout, not TUF?
Yes
LOL, my bad. Luckily you knew what I meant!
I just punched myself in the face 4 times for such a DUMB typo.
go Damacio!
Micah Miller takes home another ‘W’!!
gotta go with the fluke here.
I hope they move Condit up if he is successful in defending his title, which is likey. His next fight would probably be against either Larson or ‘Thug Jitsu’ Prater, which would be kind of boring considering Condit sub’d both those guys already. I want to see him fight Kos or Diego.
Nice!! Great week shaping up. WEC 35, my b-day is 8/7, pineapple express comes out 8/8 and then UFC 87. Cant wait!!!!!
That Condit is cocky as hell, but he is good. I can not figure him out though. I would REALLY, REALLY like to see how he would do with the UFC WW division. I just cant get a handle on him, whether or not he could also contend in the UFC????
Would love to see!!!
In the UFC, I would consider Condit to be equals with Diego Sanchez as far as the “ladder” is concerned.
Anyone in Canada, I think that means it will be live on TSN that evening as well, 6pm pacific 9pm in the east. As last WEC show, Faber vs Pulver was on live but they didnt have it in the guide or tv schedules as being on, so look out for it! Dont wanna miss this card if you can get it live and free!
laylow…thanks for the heads up. I missed part of the WEC show last time. DON’T want to miss this.
Damacio Page at 135 lbs should be a wrecking machine.
Condit stann and jamie should all win. i wonder if stann will have his last wec fight then to the ufc seeing how the plans are to move the mw and lhw to the ufc.
Condit will win. A bet on Stann is practically stealing money. And Varner is going to get smacked around and choked out by Hicks. As much as I like Stann, I don’t think he’s even top 10 in the UFC.
top ten hell he’ll be lucky to be in the top twenty
But can he hang with the bottom of the UFC LHW division? That is the question. I for one, see him getting KILLED against the like of a Goran Reljik. And Goran isn’t even considered Top 15 in the UFC.
stann wouldn’t hang with the lower end of the UFC talent, which is why he is in the WEC. right now all he is, is a guy with one punch KO power and that is it.
then again it is hard to say how he’d do since his fights haven’t gone long enough to really see what he is made of.
i think he should fight irvin or houston people who can get random flash knock outs
no way he can! i think it’s a waist of time for the ufc to bring in mw’s and lwh’s in from the ufc except the mw’s champ to beery to remember his name i…. filho! i got it!! yea umm but other than him waist of time.
Comic refief.. clk below. The Lil’ Iraqi Ganster ( Reminds me of BigPun )

Thats some shit hot ground & pound on display, teach the kid some bjj, he’ll be a champ. Where’s Bas?
send that link to Shaw. he’ll have him signed in time for the next eliteXC show.
LOLOL.
My man.
You guys are crazy..hehehehehehehe
I can’t decide if I like him better than that Jardine doppelganger dancing down the German strasse.
i wish we’d get this shown in the uk!
Agreed. They should show this on Senanta. It would be live between 3am & 6am so not prime time veiwing. If im paying for UFC then should get WEC aswell.
hey Vm. Nah stann doesnt stand a chance in the ufc. i think its a bad idea to add the wecs lhw and mw division to the ufc.
wheres SPANKY ?
Brock Larson vs. Carlo Prater is going to be a good fight too. It’s on the undercard so I pray it’s on.
I haven’t been following WEC for all that long, pretty much just catch Wreckage and whatever the WEC puts up on versus. Can someone explain to me why Brock Larson is on the undercard? I see a lot of his fights…a lot of times…and he always seems to be a pretty exciting fighter to watch.
And it’s a serious question. I’m not trying to act like an idiot or anything.
And he beat John Allessio in a nontelevised WEC event recently as well.
I have no idea why. My best guess is that once you lose a title fight, you go to the undercard. That is what has happened in just about every case since I began watching.
